Yep. Stop letting more out than needed, tax foreign owned entities with water rights and/or revise their allocations.

I looked at the water usage for CA and 50% of it goes to just dumping it on construction sites.. there’s plenty of other methods of dust control.

We also waste so much on landscape. I’ve learned what my yard etc needs. I am no environmentalist or blah bla bla. But there is no need like I see in my own neighborhood for your yard to be watered twice a day everyday. And then half of that isn’t even hitting the grass or planters.

The total commercial/residential use of CA water is under 10%. So even if you cut all dust abatement, you only saved 5%. It is a 1000% money grab asking the 10% to cut over 20%. That is a 2% savings of water.

Arguing over golf courses, watering lawns and washing cars is meaningless.

90% is environmental and agricultural.

If there was truly a water supply issue, there would be more action, as nearly all of So Cals water comes from the Colorado and they tell
Is the Colorado is drying up.

And total Ag use of the river’s water is greater than the use of all the states.

Your question? “Is the CO Drying Up”
This article talks about it, you should read it. If you take all the items pointed out in the article, and if you consider them as facts. Then the CO river can stop flowing south of Hoover Dam in 2025…

I am not saying everything listed in the article is a fact. But it does stack up with lots of other articles/data that I have been reading for many years.

For me, I take stuff like this as “data source” and see how it stacks up against other data sources, to form my opinion. Yes I do look at opposing view points for data sources.

If you go back in the RDP archives, I was calling for Ca to build De Sal plants over 10 years ago, due to the data I was seeing.

When I moved out of SoCal, I did not consider Az of Las Vegas as options due to West Coast Water issues. Its one of the reasons why I am in the Reno area. Again, I moved out of SoCal in Mar of 2022…

Then consider: the CO supplys 40 million people with water, and how many homes are being built, with future demand…. This problem is going to get alot worse, unless the States on the Pacific Ocean, solve the problem and build De Dal Plants, and reduce the demand on the CO, which frees it up for So Nev and AZ and lots Ca Farmers…

Agree 1000%, the savings from the low flow showerheads and toilets is negligible; it's nothing more than feel-good virtue-signaling legislation. I'm convinced (anecdotally of course) that these measures are actually costing more in terms of water usage (...but still negligible...) - I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I can't tell you the last time I single-flushed on a #2... Maybe the Poo Poet can come up with a good limerick about this.

If the Colorado stops flowing, LA ceases to exist. Where will their water come from? And why is the Mexican delta flooded today?

Im not asking you, just general questions because if the water was so precious.. 0 would be wasted.

This is hyperbole to tax us more, just like climate change.

I hate the shower heads like all of you. And get the feel good try to make all better.

But as far the double flush. Lol. Since I replaced my three either newer more powerful shitters. I do not need the double flush. Just saying from 20 years ago to a few months ago there is a difference at least the shitters I have now. Lol

Are you saying there is not a water problem on the west coast?

Researching water consumption for every resident of comifornia it deemed to be aprox 90-100 gallons per day
there aproxmently 2.5 million ilegeal migrants in the state that would be aproxmently 250,000,000 gallons of water
consumed per day or 90,000,000,000 anually. This is only 1 state, imagine the consumption being used by ALL of the river states.
AND THIS IS GETTING WORES BY THE DAY

Then why click the thread?
Are you a S&M kinda guy?

As I stated its just another source/ point to be debated.

No one here has fact checked it.

But I outlined my reservations/ concerns when it came to moving out of Ca

If Powell and Mead are at 25% of capacity, and Grand Cooley reducing flow, then most people who rely on Co River water, should be getting more concerned.

By yore numbers, 250,000,000 gallons per day, is ~767 acre feet per day.
The city of San Diego uses 100 acre feet per year. Something doesn't add up.

i agree but look on the internet for average daily useage per person and multiply it by 2.5 million illegals in cali alone
but that being said regardless they use a shitload of water that nobody wants to talk about

Lol! Yeah no. 😜

Truthfully, what's to debate?

We all know the weather is cyclical. We have dry times and wet times.

This too shall pass. To beat a dead horse (again) is just silly.

Just my 2 cents. 😊

Wouldn't desalinization plants be good for everyone? If Elon wanted to do something good with his money, he could have built a few of those!

Stop wasting water for manufacturing power, and fire up the coal even better nuclear plants in America.
Now your talking! They waste so much water spinning the turbines for California peak loading and once the water is released it continues to flow to the end and its more than the farmers can use. You see it every day in the heat. Cut the waterflo till electrical load increases and open the gates. Newsom dsnt want any “non” green generation in the state and Cals import need far exceeds what “green” shiat can produce consistantly and is taxing not only the water situation along with the retail wheeling prices for the rest of us surrounding Cal. Cals power needs stacked on top of water usage is affecting everyone. Gas fired peak load turbines work great and are low emission. Coal and nuke are mega producing back bone needs but not only does Cal not want them, no one wants the build cost and the stranded asset of owning and maintaining anymore. Keep throwing batt vehicles in the mix and its gonna get worse. There is no infrastructure for charging stations. Solar is a band-aid and as i drive thru the Palm springs area frequently how many old leaking ass wind turbines are not even working. Whew. Lol.

Weather and water supply is cyclical:

What destroyed the Hohokam society?

A persistent drought, lasting from about 1130-1180 CE, decimated Anasazis' crops, while a major flood in 1358 destroyed the Hohokam irrigation system.

No, the entire west coast is bordered by….. water.

Over 50% of the LA area water comes from the Colorado river Aqueduct.

If there was a Colorado River supply problem 2 years away, you’d see more action in So Cal than higher water bills, tickets for overwatering, and incentives for removing grass in your front yard.

California is the largest exporter of food in the U.S. and the biggest consumer of the Colorado rivers water. I can't imagine what the tax payers pay out every year in farm subsides...staggering for sure. Just follow the money and environmental policies and there is the problem. The narrative of "support your farmers" is total BS as far as I'm concerned...BIG FARM has taken over and is literally selling our water with the help of the Fed/State governments help. Our politicians are fleecing the U.S. of its resources and treasure right out from under Americans ignorant noses.
