Hey guys,

Figured we needed some boating content in here. Regelcoated my boat last year and really don't want to drill a bunch of holes for Bimini. Don't want a Bimini in general but with a 1 year old its a must. I will be making the bars out of 3/4 stainless tubing. Low pro Bimini is the goal. Just need ideas for the anchor.

Pics of the boat.

theres no good way... just a bad and worse way.

IF you can find a way to mount it UNDER the gunnels, but it looks like your side panels come all the way up, so you'd have to retrofit those. (thats the bad option)

The worse option is to just drill those suckers through that pretty deck. You can use your front and rear buoy pop up cleats as a front and rear attachment, but you still need to drill for the center one.

I vote the just getting them some of these....

The cleanest way I’ve seen is on the inside of the gunnel. I’ve used an umbrella when parked where the ski pole goes.

I had Nordic do the bimini on our Daytona. No way in the world would I have ever thought I would have one, but you are right, with kids and especially toddlers, it is a MUST in the Az heat.
We did a low pro with the HD stainless mount in the middle, and then HD straps on front and rear. We had the option to do all stainless, but it is really heavy. It works great on our Daytona and I have been told 65-70mph?

Just 4 holes, straps to the pop up cleats. It also stores in front or behind.....

If you do it inside the gunnel it will be narrow and intrude on the occupants.
Mount it outside and it looks like it will be in front of the gas fill. Put a dog leg at the bottom of main frame below the first hinge so it will sit higher than the fill cap when layed down. Make it wide enough so the top radius allows it to store flat.
It is what it is.

Don't you worry. This will be a low pro Bimini. Good thing we're a small Vietnamese family. So we won't be hitting our heads. 🤣

I never store it with the Bimini. I'm probably going to install it between the gunnel and side panel. Just trying to find a double shear end.

Similar like this. Most like drill out the bolt hole to 1/4 and use a push pin.

I had Monica at custom canvas do this one a couple years ago. I wanted to try to do inside gunnel mounts but with the seats it wasn’t going to work. I wanted to go lower but she talked me into about 6” above my seated head height. She said any lower then that is extremely uncomfortable to move around inside the boat as you’d basically be on your hands and knees. The rigging on this boat was by Peterson it was basically a show piece. No holes in the deck, even gas fills are inside the gunnels. But there was really no way around the mounts, it was a function over form decision. No regrets though it makes the whole day on the water more enjoyable and has withstanded a couple 100mph blasts.

Works great while floating or hanging out on the beach. I don't have a picture of it on my boat but I didn't need to add any extra holes to my deck. The straps hook to the cleats and the post extend to create the head room you desire. Taylormade anchor shade III.

I Use one of those Taylor anchor shades in my little Bahner boat. Works great and for the straps we use paddleboard suction cups. Just don't drive with it up.

Very nice. Yea I want something that could handle high speeds. Ain't trying to cruise only with a Bimini.

Mine has these little brackets to pivot in the middle, than I’d just use the pop ups you already have for the tensioner straps.

Thanks man! I wanted to buy your boat originally but couldn't spend the money.

Motor is a 300 Promax rebuilt by Hoffman Motorsports. Kinda wish I got a 300x instead.

Full rebuild thread right here.

I’ve got straps that come from under the dash as well as from inside the engine compartment/hatch. Bimini has the double shear ends on it that hook up to these little tabs. No holes.

There aren't "gunnels" on boats. It's spelled gunwale. Don't be a landlubber.

Make a bushing and stick the umbrella in the ski pylon hole

That’s our program right there.

In the inside so don’t see it when looking at the boat. That 90 degree bend is perfect for inside mount.

And as has been said - Black / low profile

Black isn't a problem with the Havasu heat?

It’s cooler. What I mean is it’s so bright out the black color is less reflective and seems like you are really in the shade. The friends we boat with and side tie with have a white magic with a purple and white top. Sitting in our boat vs theirs is much more comfortable.

The black top is not a problem at all.

Yes, 26 Shadow - last one John West built.

Weird how that works cuz when you wear black clothes in the summer you get hotter.
Not arguing just an observation
