THIS WEEKEND.......
That's right race fans it's that time again to haul azz and turn left on the waters of Lake Ming in Bakersfield Ca.
Grab your friends and family and drive, ride or fly your way to watch some great boat racing action. Come watch all the action with the KBOATS, GN'S, CRACKERS and especially the SE'S. Haha
It's going to be a toasty 95 degrees all weekend so come prepaired with shade, sun blocks and lots of BEER.....
Stop by the SE29 pit for a cold bev and say hello, buy a shirt and enjoy all the racing action. It's only a short drive from L.A. and a beautiful setting in the foothils of Bakersfield, the home of a rich history in aiuto racing and racing in general.
Here's a copy of the weekend schedule

Might have to juggle our weekend plans around to come out. Stop at Kern County Fairgrounds for the NSRA Western Street Rod Nationals and then head to Lake Ming for some crackerbox races.

Hoping to bring the new Rescue/Safety Boat out to hopefully just sit on the water and look pretty and need 0 rescuing! I just rebuilt the whole boat and Mercury Racing provided a brand new 300 Outboard, gear & prop!!!!

Is the shoe deal new? last year we didn't have an issue with wearing sandals. or nobody said anything to us.
Either way thanks for the heads up.

Much Appreciated. The P550 is out for most of the year. Hopefully we will bring her back out for the last Ming and Parker races of the season.

I think last time we just got lucky and no one said anything. Normally they always make you have closed toe shoes. They also didn’t charge us for pit passes last time either. Long Beach did and was really strict on the closed toe shoes.

P550 out from the roll over last fall?

How is the leg doing from your rider when they went over? Broken femur if I remember correct?

Eric is doing Ok and getting around. He was in Parker over the weekend helping Randy work on his boat. Eric's a winner not a whiner.

@Clank123 taught him well.

Yup.

His leg is still jacked up. He had to have a 2nd surgery a few weeks ago. Still on a cane, but hopefully going back to work in a few weeks.

What’s the lives lost sign up too now? Almost drove up there a little bit last week.
No idea... my Bako buddy just mentioned idiots have died this season due to those high waters on Kern river that go through his families farm. I was there for Thanksgiving watching the river and it was normal.... not now apparently.

Update…
He has ditched the cane and is walking on his own.
Turns out the knee was badly damaged in the crash since it was just dangling there by the muscles, tendons and ligaments when he was in the water.
Basic orthoscopic surgery was needed to clean it up.
Walking better every day!👍

Good day today, testing went well. The boats hualin da azz, (me) The new cav plate setup is working well. ( Thanks Rankdaddy) Boat rotates so smoothly thru the turn just standing on the down pedal. Little steering input and I can just clip the mid and exit bouy's. Should be a good day tomorrow. Hopefully we can draw a favorable lane choice. Excited to see if we're actually good enough to keep the win streak alive.

I had a good conversation last night with Terminal Velocity. He's a very successful super stock driver and he shared
his experience and insights on this course with me. Really appreciate and enjoyed that. We'll see if I can translate that to a win this weekend.

You won’t go wrong with advice from TV, great guy and racer! Race safe today! PSA, be sure to use sunscreen, I have a new three inch scar from having melanoma removed from my back the other day so I have to take it easy for a couple of weeks!

Well, it's been an interesting day. The boats run very well, too well actually. I seem to be having difficulty slowing it down. I've broke out 3 times, twice in SE and once in CE. I guess the last race really was a fluke. Haha oh well. Learnin curve...
Tomorrow will be better. We made a couple changes to slow her down a little bit since I don't actually " have the feel" like I thought after Parker.
The SE final was kinda fucked up. We had to go around 1 additional lap due to 1 boat having an issue and returning to the pit against the direction of travel but far enough out of the way to return safely. When i saw that I slowed way down expecting the field to also and half expected the race officials to black flag the course, shoot a flare if necessary to stop the boats etc. and get the struggling boat off the course. But that didn't happen. The field continued on with me lagging behind. I expected the field to slow some until I rejoined the group. That didn't happen either so I had to hurry up to catch up going into the last turn before the start zone. I'm in lane 4 with 1 boat to my outside. As the field is rounding thru the middle of the turn I'm approaching the lane 5 "hole" between boats. I'm right on the tails and approaching and the inside boat suddenly moves into my path and I have to avert to my right to keep off his boat @ 50ish mph. At the same time the boat to my outside is moving in some and my hole disappears and now I am running straight into his side so have to dump the throttle to keep off of him. I look @ the flag man and he's holding the green flag up ready to cut loose. I'm thinking no way they can start the race like that and he drops the flag and off they go. The field had 4 or 5 boat lenghts on me and now I'm fuked and fuming. Off I go and in my chase somewhere I broke out. Of course. With the speed limit we run under you can't really chase, you just have to accept the sitch for what it is and run along under the limit and hope others mess up and give their heat away. I thought I was slow enough but as it turns out I wasn't and ended up giving away a second place finish due to 3 other infractions from othe boats in the heat......fuck me...
If that wan't enough I came into the pit fuming and snapping on officials, race director etc. That didn't help the situation 1 bit but I was too hot to care. We got it all worked out and all is well now, well except for my points for the day. That's for shit at the moment...

My crew at work prepping for another heat. Running 2 clases keeps us very busy. Wiping down, checking bolts, refueling, adjusting valves etc
Very little time to watch other races or chat with spectators etc. I stuggle to post stuff during the dsy due to the pace.

Mikeys SE turned gps 105 boat. He roached a eng. Today. Maybe his maintenance program could use some updates? He'll get it figured out and get back out there.

Thanks, was trying to make it to Ming but with my surgery and my wife having a procedure this week we ran out of time to get there. Sorry to hear about the start, I know it’s a judgment call but we have been on the wrong end of more than a few times including once at Burley at a running start to the flag and a part time racer jumped across the next lane and hosed down my BIL at the flag! Larry thru his hands in the air at the flag man and had a conversation with Ross and the flag man when he got back to the ramp! Ross has broad shoulders and tomorrow is another race day! Overall Ross and the SCSC do a great job and sometimes a bad call happens. Good luck tomorrow and race safe.

That’s what it looked like in the final from a video I saw.
The boat going wrong way on course, then not stopping the heat is a Fubar, but not surprising.
Good for you on letting officials know they fucked up and almost caused an accident.

Today’s another day, sounds like the strategy we talked about isn’t going to play out. So today, stick the nose up there and never be behind the nose of another, charge the starts, and smoke them in the turns. Good luck today.

Since Warren is busy at race site, I’ll update as best I can from text messages I’m getting.
Warren finished 1st, from lane 3 in Classic Endurance first heat. Continuing to make tuning/mechanical adjustment changes to dial in the speed. Went from 88.9 to 83.5, going the other way a little, as the weather is getting warmer.

Thank you very much for the updates. Our weekend plans for making it got messed up. Now we have to wait til September to get there.
Hope all the races and racers have a safe day. 👍

Your welcome.
I’m going to have to start paying attention to how the SE class drivers run. The things I tried to talk to Warren about didn’t translate well over the phone, to what I was trying to convey, or we need to modify it to a GPS class, vs a Balls out class like SS/PS/K.
I’ve got some ideas to discuss with Warren as to how we can dial in the speed. Little steps, Warren is doing a great job for as little experience he has. 👍
