Chipmunk Problems

Damn chipmunks are tearing up my vehicles.
Found 3 large nests in the engine valley of my 7.3 over the last year.
They are tearing out the hood insulation and nesting in the wife's Acadia too.
Any suggestions?

that's a problem where we live (in the mountains) My first line of defense is Irish spring bar soap. Scatter chunks around under the hood, rodents and chipmunks do not like the scent at all. If you can find all of the ways they are getting in (if it's a small opening) cover the holes with 1/4" hardware cloth. There are also repellents that work well, google "critter out.com"

Super smelly Bounce Drier sheets is what I put around in my engine compartments. Seems to keep them(rats/rodents) at bay to some degree. Also, wife will dribble some Lavender oil on those drier sheets too.
As @Gramps saids above, it's those odors they tend not to like being around.

Our property was infested with chipmunks when we moved in. Pretty sure the previous owners were feeding them. They would walk right into.my garage and kinda beg for treats.
My Min Pin killed them all. Even got herself trapped under the intake of the acadia one time trying to get those basturds. Had to do some disassembling to get her out.
Now that she is gone, they have come back.
I'll try the Irish Spring and dryer sheets.

Rodents like the dark.. After finding rodents had taken residence under hood of my truck and RV I added a few LED strips to my RV dog house and under truck hood... I also put traps with bait on the other side of the house in an attempt to attract them elsewhere...

I've tried dryer sheets, soap, moth balls, etc. for the pack rats we have around here. None of it helped. Leaving the hood open a foot or so does. I prop it open with a 9" or so board. They must not feel all secure since it's not closed up and dark, but trapping/killing them is the only for sure cure

Yeah we have pak rats. Havent had them in a vehicle. But i had a couple in my toy hauler. When you are fighting these things you must go full retard!! Do every wives tale snake oil and get every trap or gadget that may stop them and thats how i have been able to get rid of them. Couldn't tell you what it was but when i did it all at once instead of trying one method then waiting and the trying another they stopped. Haha best of luck in your hunt.

pellets are my go to for shit within 100yds
slugs are my go to for shit within 200yds.

I am not joking… Head shots on coyotes at 150yds.. .first thing to hit ground is there nose… drops there ass.

Best news of all, its whisper quiet… because its a “pellet gun” not a fire arm. Its 100% legal.

Well need to clarify something… when you shoot the gun its pretty quiet.. but the impact of the pellet hitting the critter… yeah.. pretty damn loud. LOL…..

.177, .22, .25, .30, .35 and larger ones coming.. in addition you can get 500mm, 600mm, 700mm and 800mm barrels in each of the calibers.

Mine easily shoots dimes at 50 yards, nickle size groups at 100.

You are right the upfront cost is alot more than rimfire or center fire… However if you shot alot, LIKE I DO, this is the cheapest fun you can have.

Not everyone spends this kind of money on PCP (pre charged pneumatics) pellet guns, you can alot for under $1000, but your not shooting dimes at 50 yards all day… You get what you pay for.

When I lived in SoCal… we lived right next to the Santa Rosa plataue and there are thousands of coyotes that live up there. Guess where they had dinner… in my neighbors back yard, munching fluffy or ______________ , a kitty in the front yard.. got that one my ring camera. LOL.

Guess what happened to every coyote that ran across my sights??? Even living in a house in “Track Houses” no one had a clue I dropping them, until the buzzards showed up. They didnt hear a thing…

I have killed more crows, squirrells, chipmunks, ducks and coyotes than you can imagine with this gun.. I have a blast doing.

Bounce dryer sheets. The OG Orange ones. Need to remove the nest first, clean engine with gunk/simple green/ cleaner of choice.

Put 8-10 around engine compartment, tie single loop onto hoses/wires etc, staying away from radiator/fan area.

Change MONTHLY.

The only times they are not successful is when the above is not done (nest removed, cleaned) or NOT CHANGED MONTHLY.

When customers come in and claim "They don't work!" I point out the entirely black sheets and say, "So tell me again you've changed them monthly?"

I do thousands of dollars in rat repairs yearly, love the little bastards!

Had this happen once with rats or mice, not sure which, chewed main engine harness. Dealer recommended fox/coyote urine. Spray around tires after you park and other nearby things they might piss on. Seemed to work, but might have just been lucky. It’s sold in hunting supply stores for covering up your people scent when hunting. The idea is the critters think predators are in the area so not a good place to nest. I sprayed before the car returned and then a couple times more and never again.

Som brown rat ate 5 out of 6 injector pigtails last year right after Christmas in my wife’s 4Runner.

The spray above seems to keep them at bay. I would spray it around my car stored on the side of the house, no real issue if I kept up on it every 6 weeks or so.
