So at lunch yesterday, my 88 year old Pops announces that he's interested in an '04 Chevy SSR. He saw a pretty red one with 7X,000 miles with 4 previous owners (?) sitting at a used car lot in Kingman for $20K.

Thinks his '02 Grand Cherokee will bring $6-7 in trade.

He doesn't drive much (52K on the 13 year old Cherokee).

Ever owned one? Gimme the good, the bad and the ugly on this little red rocket.

Thanx!

Good cruisers....super under powered with the 5.3. Not sure what year that put the 6.0 but it was night and day.

If you get one, make sure it's a later model that has the 6.0 motor - the 5.3 was pretty wimpy.

7X,000 = Greater than 70,000 miles.

If your 88 year old pops wants one, then you get him what he wants.

Yep.

I think they are pretty cool for what they are. If it has the 5.3 so what he's 88. :thumbsup

Put on a loud exhaust system and run it. The thing will probably never break.

SSR's had a 5.3 liter and 6.0 liter motor? Aren't they those little things that compete with the pt cruisers?

You are thinking of the HHR.

The Chevy SSR is like an El Camino.

Test drove the 6.0 one some time back, and I actually liked it.

I had one. the electric top got stuck half way up on mine like 20 times. they are pretty fun to drive though, if you get a 6.0

mine had 22's and was lowered a bit, all of the silver shit was painted black to match the truck.

used it one day to do a lil shake down run on my old flatty, my buddy backed it a little too far down the ramp when we were loading up the boat. when I made it up to the trailer the truck was up to the dash in water.
