So I noticed that my Rhino's CVT didn't seem to be "shifting" right.
My top speed had dropped considerably as well.
Thought all of this was odd, since I have less than 700 miles on it.

Took the sheave apart this weekend, and it was completely packed with hard, dirty grease. And the rollers were hardly moving.

Also noticed that my belt was about 1/10th of an inch worn, so I replaced that as well.

I think the lesson is:
You can't just go by mileage for some services.
So from here on out, I'll be checking my sheave and belt every season :thumbsup

did you use your old sheave or go all new?

If mine hasn't gernaded yet can I just change out the weights and belt for improved performance?

I need to do this/adjust valves before the season starts.

I just cleaned up my sheave/rollers.

When you regrease it, you don't need to use a lot of grease. A small tub of $15 Yamaha Ultramatic grease is enough to regrease your sheave about 100 times.

Measure your belt and replace it if it's worn. Buy a new belt - you can use it as a spare - and measure the width with a micrometer. Then just compare to your old belt. I'll now use my old belt as a spare...

There are new sheaves and belts that can give you different type of performance gains. I've got a KMS sheave with their duner's kit...the sheave gives you top-end speed, and the duner's kit replaces the weights and spring to allow the engine to rev higher at lower speeds - think of it as a higher-stall torque converter.

I think everyone should get a new sheave, the duner's kit or any of hte other spring/weight kits are personal preference, depending on what you're looking for.

Where did you guys buy the belt from? I really need to pull my sheave apart and regrease and put a new belt on. I haven't had any issues with it but I'd rather do preventitive maintenance then wait until it breaks.

My sheave was ok. After you clean it you'll have to inspect it well and make sure there's no cracks in it. I know what to look for now so when you do it let me know. Yes you can just change the weights and install a stiffere spring and it'll help a bunch. Also your gonna have to take your cage off to get to the valves.

You can adjust the valves by leaving the cage on, but it's not easy to do... I think it's one of those "six of one, half dozen of the other" dealios if you want to remove the cage or not...my cage is a complete PITA to take off.

Either way will add time to adjusting your valves, which is a simple operation.

Everything I've read says the foactory Yamaha belt is the best, BTW.

I have about 3000 miles on mine and I agree that the Yamaha belt works the best. I have tried a couple of supposedly better aftermarket and they don't work as well as the factory belt. I also have the Kms sheeve and my stock 06 rhino did 60 mph yesterday.

I had my rollers go to shit and have since upgraded to Hunterworks.com greaseless rollers and am happy and would recommend them. 2007 and older requires a new outer plate, but the entire upgrade was about $100 bucks and I fell it was money well spent. I haven't noticed any increased noise from the clutch and now there is no grease inside to collect dust.
