Lots of big boats hanging in the channel today. Magic looks like a 16 footer.

Starting to think that is the way to go. Small ocean style boat, probabky stock it up and spend the weekend on the water . No hotel cost and cuts through the Havasu waves fairly efficiently.

My buddy drug his sport cruiser (full ocean boat) out there for desert storm one year. Probably the coolest trip we ever did. Hanging off the rear deck while under way and having drinks. Full head, two state rooms, kitchen, microwave lounge seating. It's the way to go.

you can actually get a lot of boat out of a 28' cruiser. It's not a bad way to go.

This is what we were on but it was blue hull. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1459028018.229582.jpg

Looks like the same group that was tied up in the channel outside of the Heat hotel over Valentines weekend.

Magic34 on the boards....doesn't have a magic any more. He moved to a gigantic cruiser and I don't think he's looking back.

A small cruiser would be nice to use on the lake. No wind in your face, air conditioning down below and cool place to hang out.

I'm old. We used to have fun in Havasu with a 16 ft outboard and it was an almost flatbottom boat, a Regatta for those who remember those boats.

I also remember my first car. 65 Ford Van with no power steering. My first boat was a 72 Kona Jet Boat that would beat the shit out of you when you would cross a wake. I will stick to the modern boats it is easier on the body.

Sounding like a bunch of old farts in here! Lol. Air conditioning really?? Enjoy that back at the pad.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :champagne:

These floating motorhomes are boring as fuck. The pussification of this country is truly disappointing... :thumbsdown

Stay in the Ocean with those please!!!
Already hate the roll bar boats wake I couldn't imagine the wake from these!!!
I'm sure they are nice but not for a small Lake like Havasu! Maybe Mead or Powell for sure!!

Why don't you just go to Parker and boat in the river instead of Havasu? The river is a better fit for your boat than Havasu

My name jetboatmatt was when I had my old Southwind jet boat!!
I now have a 24ft Renegade (Caliber 1) I/O
And man on Saturdays it's pretty crazy on Havasu.
I have had a boat now for 23 years and really know how to drive across wakes. But when they are three feet high there is not much driving that's going to help!!
On Big Lakes like Mead and Powell or Lake of the Ozark's I can see having a huge ocean going Yacht but not on Havasu with River assess

I brought a 38 scarab to havasu back in the late 80's. Havasu is plenty big for an ocean boat. 40' is the new 30. Remember you can take an ocean boat to the lake but you can't take a lake boat to the ocean. I remember two years ago I brought my partners 51 outerlimits cat to the Billy B show at needles. Now mind you I never took it off the trailer, I was asked to bring it there to display a different kind of boat. Yet some v drive people absoulty had a fit. No different than sailboaters arguing with powerboaters. All boat lives matter, can't we all get along.

I always made fun of AC on a boat until I bought a boat in the late 90's with gen and A/C. It makes things nice when you go below and a fun thing when I would pull into the channel and beach the A/C would piss water like a bilge pump. So when I stopped, someone next to me would say Hey your bilge pump is still on. I would look at them with surprise and say shit my holding tank is pumping out. Always good for a laugh.

The people that rode on the Midnight Express last Desert Storm weekend can attest to the smooth ride of a large boat at havasu. everyone on the boat were smaller lake boat owners ranging from Eliminator to DCB owners. They all were very impressed by the smooth ride even at 300pm in the middle of the lake. Why get beat up?

The express cruisers don't put out much wake at all... My 290 has a very flat wake. Twin screws with genset ac, never leave the water... Nothing beats the afternoon, evening and night when all the crowds head back into the city and you have the whole place to yourself! It's just like home and watching a little tv before you go to bed after popping a bag of popcorn is not bad either. I don't understand how hanging out on a fully loaded boat is any more boring than standing in the channel all day. We love ours and will never go back. They are pretty average lengthwise compared to everything on the lake, just a lot taller... Put it on the hook for the night and I am pretty sure you can eat and drink as much as you like without endangering yourself or others, priceless!

Cruising the wakes are not that bad. When they get on plane and off they throw a hugs wake. Magic34's old 40SS was a great Havasu chill and relax boat.

My boat is 34'. I grew up boating and have been a boat owner for 21 years starting with a 21' Hallett. I boat in the ocean, at Lake Pleasant, Lake Powell, Mead, Havasu, the Delta, and other places. Should I be required to buy another, smaller boat to use when I go to Havasu because my boat offends you and doesn't fit in with the other boats in Havasu?

Big boats matter, there is space for all of them on the water. :)

My previous post was mostly sarcastic. Big boats will be there. I try to be considerate, but if I'm out running in the middle of the lake I don't feel like I should need to worry about the guy in the potato chip boat who decides that he can tough it out in the whitecaps.

I live and bleed Eliminator but I'm afraid our next boat might be a Formula 330 SS....Unless I can talk the wife into a 28' Eliminator Fundeck.

Lots of big cruisers on the Delta. I have seen as big as 70'. It is worse when you come up on 5 or 6 of them plowing along with giant roller after roller after roller.

Bullshit. All that's needed is a little experience and something that's rare in this crowd -sobriety. :skull

Sign me up for a 36 Tiara any time - man would I love that boat in Havasu, plenty of room for guest, stay on the boat for the weekend, remotely drop anchor in a nice cove and head Into the aircon cabin that's nice and cool for lunch ;-)

Ya - I could get used to that real easy... Then have a nice little 20-24 ft go fast of some sort for sun rise/set runs!

those cruiser are all over the place up here on the delta from 24-70 ft they displace a ton of water and sometime there's 3-4 together talk about a messed up ride, it takes few times to figure out how to make it thru them. havi isnt as big as the delta so i could see how they could stir the chit out of the water for traffic, it is a sight watching the don't knows air it out thinking they were just gonna keep on cruising threw the rollers!:yikes they are definitely cool shit iv spent a few nights on a inlaws 290 larson

There's shore power down there??

I highly doubt there's a 30amp 125volt (twist lock) connection.

However I'm sure there is a 15/20amp 120volt outlet somewhere close by.

You couldn't run the entire AC Panel at once, but it would be enough for the battery chargers overnight.

..... I set my heater at 72 on my boat friday and saturday night, pretty much just because I can... It turned on twice in the early morning hours for about 5 minutes each run. I bet I could have gutted it out and used a blanket if I had to. I bet they could have easily made it off the 12v side over night with a couple genny hours during the day to keep things real.

Magic34 on the boards....doesn't have a magic any more. He moved to a gigantic cruiser and I don't think he's looking back.

It was the way to go for me. Having a generator and a/c in Havasu was the best, when it was 120 outside, I had a cabin on the water at 77 degrees. Satellite TV and full radar didn't suck either for being on the lake. I could cruise safely from Havasu Springs to Thompson in night conditions. Not following a snail trail but real time conditions with radar. If my kids got hot, they could go in the cabin, watch a movie and I would not have to stress about them falling in the water. So we'd chill in the cockpit, kids in the cabin and the stress level as WAY down. They had to pass us to get to the water. Don't forget... a windlass is a push button anchor, that was awesome for out there. 200' of chain and anchor that I never had to lift. I loved all my fast performance boats, but everything the Formula gave me made it my favorite.

In my last 34' Magic cat, I installed A/C also and ran it off a Honda EU2000 off the back when at anchor. It worked great, but I got to the point of who was I kidding, I needed to step up to a cruiser. Got the Formula in 2007 and just sold it last July, we're in a different boat in a slip now in San Diego. No turning back now... we're ocean people. If I lived in So Cal, maybe I'd still be a lake guy. But leaving the 115 degree heat of Phoenix to go to the 120 degree heat of Havasu for the weekend and back to the heat in Phx... We discovered boating in San Diego and it's our favorite yet. It's at least 30-35 degrees cooler than Phoenix any day of the week. We are there often.
