I hear Israel makes some good ones. I had school teachers asking for them until I found out that they are illegal. They can fit in your pocket now so you can be your own bubble.

Though I think for the legal issues you are better off putting a faraday cage in instead.

Not hard to find, but highly illegal. They also vary in strength/range. Depending on location of use the trouble could range from FCC fines to federal indictment type stuff due to Homeland Security type stuff.

It’s not just “illegal”, it’s a FEDERAL crime to buy, use, market, advertise, import, distribute, or sell a jammer in the USA.

Although unlikely, anyone even telling you where to buy one could be complicit.
Are you sure you want to solicit this on an open source internet site?

Have they always been illegal? I got one years ago off the internet and used to carry it in my pocket when riding a motorcycle so pain-in-the-ass cars wouldn't call in your plate number to the cops.

Lol
You likely got a thing that did nothing?
Did you check it against your own phone?

You can buy the pocket ones if you travel abroad and bring them back, the bigger units good luck. If you have any friends in HAM radio try them.

Not saying there aren't some guys out there willing to do it, but it is highly frowned upon in the HAM community.

Mine was a pocket one with 3 little antennas coming out the top. I would switch it on/off. Great for playing pranks on friends with those evel cell phones. They would think that the cell phone dropped their call.

I've learned in life, if you look hard enough you can find anything. Especially with the Internet. The dark web would be your friend in this endeavor. I'm sure they can custom make whatever you want in China, or get an off the shelf unit.

Might not be a bad idea for a doomsday scenario actually.. But otherwise too much risk. Remember the FAA tips someone shared here a while ago? Same thing for the FCC, they're not ones to fuck around with.

Yeah, but I’d bet most here would freak straight the fuck out if their phone got jammed anywhere anytime.
If you activate a jammer you’re interfering with everyone else’s “freedom” who’s phone is in range.
Life was better before the answering machine

It would be funny to turn on a dozen or so of those things at the US Open of Surfing at the HB Pier this weekend !
Sit back and watch the chaos ensue ! 🤣 🤣 🤣
All the teeny-boppers with their phones stapled to their heads would have a complete meltdown ! 😄

I think I should be safe.
I'll try it out over the weekend.

Theoretically, that could lead to $38,000.00 in fines for each device, just from the FCC, not counting whatever individual liabilities are awarded for the ensuing personal lawsuits stemming from the hardships it caused people who possibly had emergencies or losses due to not being able to communicate.
But more likely it’d just be the standard $16K per day per device?
But you would be caught for sure.
Personally, I think I would find less costly ways of harassing people?😂

A jammer at a large event would go unfounded. Nobody would know who has what in their pocket. Our waiter in Phoenix bought one for his house so his kids can’t use their phones or go online. I think it cost close to 1200 bucks

I’d just take away the kids phones in the house. 🤷🏼‍♂️
😎

But the question stands, why would one want to do that at a “large event” unless they were either up to nefarious intentions, or vying to be the worlds biggest asshole?

My wife has told me several times that I'm the world's biggest asshole, this is proof that I'm not because I wouldn't go to that much trouble 🤣

I actually would t do it in that manner. My reasoning wouldn’t affect 99.9 pct of my area that I know of

Whatever happened to the "Cone of Silence?" Seems it worked pretty good.

Yup!

True story. HAMs will do the same thing too for people who are bleeding over freqs or breaking more serious rules.

I know a guy, he’s basically the blade runner of cellphone interference investigators.

^^^🖕🖕^^

its no secret once upon a time i worked for one of the big cell phone companies and the last 5 years i was there all i did was track down interference......especially jammers.

they are easy to spot, highly illegal, and while the cell phone company cant force you to shut it off........it was reported to the FCC who had the power to fine you and all sorts of things.

yes, we even had a case where we could see one being used on a freeway. the perp had one installed in his vehicle, and you could literally statistically watch it march up the 405 on a morning commute. once we had a pattern of this guys driving habbits, we were able to pinpoint the vehicle by having techs on the freeway with the right radio gear to track it down, get a license plate number and it went down the legal rathole from there. end of problem.

someone mentioned you cant jamn 5g this is total hogwash. ANYTHING in the radio spectrum can be jammed.
