Cattail Cove $10 to look?

Hadn’t been to Cattail Cove and wanted to check it out. Mind you was in my car coming back to Havasu from Parker. So no RV, boat, etc. told the woman at booth just want to see facilities and leave like 5 minutes.
Rudely says no can do, unless you give me $10 dollars. Is this now normal for AZ state parks?

I was staying at Sandpoint when it was still open and needed to retrieve my boat. It was a tight ramp and I had to use the motorhome so I went over to Cattail and they let me do it no charge. Maybe I was just lucky but they were pretty friendly back then.

Weird. Angela and I did the same thing at Buckskin a few years ago right about the time the restaurant moved across the river to big bend. I told the lady at the gate that we were there to just take a look and she let us right in. Gave us brochures as well...
The only reason I didn't go back was due to the steep slick ramp directly in the current.

Black Meadow won't let you drive in either without paying. But....

If you say you're going to eat at the restaurant, they will let you in for free.

I was riding my motorcycle and stopped and asked if I could take a break and have some water in the parking lot.
She had to ask someone and then asked more questions and asked someone again and i finally said f it and took off.
Sent them a nasty email for making such a big deal

Last weekend at Windsor, the guy didn't care that I used an expired annual pass. I just told him my wife will get a new one next week. Super nice. And there was a guy down at the ramp who reminded my dad that it is slippery and to be careful.

There was a husband and wife team running the place. It was dead cause it was a Thursday morning, so we had the run of the place! Service and food were great. Let's just say the place it's self is dated and leave it at that.

Had breakfast, watched the Poker Run from the beach and headed back to Big Bend. It was a relaxing day!

I think the raft up was straight across from us that day...

Tried the same a few months ago, just to check it out. Woman at the desk was very friendly and we went into it expecting the possibility of a no. Not sure why this would be a big surprise to anyone.

Did the same at a few parks on Parker(buckskin, castle rock, and river island), we were very friendly and were allowed in all of them to cruise through and check out.

I have the Az state park pass and was in the office/store at Cattail and saw the female ranger do the same thing to a couple who’s small son had to poop.

In the '60s we used to stay in a Trailer park-campground at Paradise Cove, north of Malibu. There was a sign at the entrance that said:

Was headed home many years ago and noticed the boat was off center a bit on the trailer. Pulled into Cattail and asked if I could float the boat to straighten it up with no problems. I'm sure it's all in who you get working and what kind of day they are having. They probably have dozens of people pull all kinds things for free access.

Humm did you have a TRUMP 2024 sticker on your rig ?

We were in Oregon last summer and checked out several St & NP parks just by asking to check it out with no charge, I did offer to leave one of my offspring behind in case we didn't return though

Watch the cleats and protrusions at the guest dock. Through the years the BML Cafe has gone from outstanding to not. Just depends on who is managing and cooking for any given year. Summers can be tough. Cafe is often dead on the weekends until about 8:30 pm, then they suddenly get slammed. Difficult for a small crew. It's CA. Believe masks may be required to enter the cafe.

Yes mask on to enter the store and dinner but not that big of a deal .

RD, if you do stop at the BML cafe, the store is worth checking out. Very well stocked. Can be a convenient stop when on the lake. No other store like it on the lake, that I know of. The lady who has ran it for years, Connie, is a sweetheart.

Instead of the guest dock, you can slide your bow onto the beach, then a sand spike. Short walk to the Cafe and Store.
