There were older threads that mentioned it.

But yes it’s this Saturday.

We won’t be in it, couldn’t find a skier willing to use my dad as their observer. So we left the boat in Havasu.

We will still go down there. I want to pick up some 75th Anniversary swag since we won’t be getting the free shirts for participating.

Went out to Practice this morning.

Kelly brought his boat down yesterday from Havasu.

Water was REALLLY nice today. If it is 1/2 that good, we'll be alright!

Here is a pod cast with Mike Avila and Chuck Stearns.
Chuck will be ridding with Mike for the race
There are some other great interviews that Joe has with Boating Icons.

I did one of the Power Boat Talk Podcasts a year or two ago. Joe is really easy to chat with.

When I get a chance, I want to listen to the one with Mike and Chuck!

Haven't gone in years to watch the race. I think the last time we went we got to watch from the queen mary and have a few drinks. Where is the best spot to watch from these days?

Home watching the live stream.

But if you can get on the Queen you have a shot at watching some of the start and all of the finish off the fantail.

Most Spectators watch from the Queen Mary. You can see all the boats start at once from the beach and 45+ minutes later, you see the 1st boat/skier come across the checkered flag that is right in front of the Queen Mary. Then everyone goes and parties at the Maya Hotel.

I was told the cruise ships block the view now..

They have a jumbo tron this year several drones and like eight cameras.. it will be on the beach near the start and you should be able to watch the whole race!

Sometimes the cruise ship is there and sometimes it’s not.

We just happen to be in California this weekend so we thought we’d go down there. Our 12yo son thinks he wants to ski race so we were going to see if we could talk to some people and get some info for the future.
Your view from the queen Mary may or not be obstructed from cruise ships. You can still see them come in. You just have to wait till they round the boats. If not boats, you can watch them come through the breakwater. Afterwards go down to tha Mayan Where the finish line is. Or as said, watch from the Mayan on the big screen.

Friday check in and all the sign up and boat inspection.

Jumbo tv right in front of the restaurant (El Fuego). That might be the hot ticket.

Boat pics from the ramp to come, I’ll be over there is a bit.

Cell service sucks down here.

So they are up to 64 teams today from the 37 they had on Tuesday. So far 16 Australians skiing, apparently the most they’ve had in awhile because ski racing is shut down in down under from the recent deaths they’ve had.

Boats in the launch ramp parking today.

Race starts tomorrow at 9am unless the weather delays it. It’s mostly overcast down here and pretty breezy.

People went out to practice this week. Said Tuesday was super nice, some were getting in under an hour. Then others went out on Thursday and said it was rougher and we’re over an hour. We will see tomorrow!

I heard that thing is so top secret Randy won’t discuss what they did to make it better than the prior boat. We will see how it works for Todd tomorrow and if it’s enough to beat Avila and his skier. I heard Todd couldn’t catch him at the worlds. And we’ll see if Avila maintains his driving style from last year.

His old boat is here too ( as in the picture) but don’t know what class or skier.
