The luxury brand will be making its upcoming high performance CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing sedans available with manual transmissions, something you can’t even get in the latest Corvette. :p

Full details on the compact and midsize four-doors have not been released, but Cadillac says they are faster than the ATS-V and CTS-V models that preceded them around a track.

@PHOTOGLOU took me for a ride in his black wing when my truck was getting some stuff done last week. I found the replacement for my wife’s car when the time comes. Holy shit that thing moves for a big sedan.

We have a fleet of 19 Camaros at the track for Academy27, four of them ZL1's. They do very well with 650HP, even though they are heavy pigs. The ZL1 runs 2:12 on the track that's very respectable. I'll be interested to see this Caddy on the track if someone will bring it.
Having a 66 CoupeDeVille in the past , it's still weird for me to see the Late model Cadillacs. I love the old land yachts like the 66 Caddy and my 64 Lincoln. Really interesting that GM actually created a manual. I think even the sporty XLR was auto only, I believe.
Cool pics of the XLR https://www.topspeed.com/cars/cadillac/2004-2009-cadillac-xlr-ar183926.html

Four men went golfing together one day; three headed to the first tee and one went into the club house to take care of the bill.

The three men started talking, bragging about their sons.

The first man told the others, "My son is a home builder and he's so successful that he gave a friend a new home - for free."

The second man said, "My son was a car salesman and now he owns a multi-line dealership. He's so successful that he gave a friend two Cadillacs."

The third man, not wanting to be outdone bragged, "My son is a stock broker and he's doing so well that he gave his friend an entire stock portfolio."

The fourth man joined them on the tee after a few minutes of taking care of business. The first man mentioned, "We were just talking about our sons. How is yours doing?"

The fourth man replied, "Well, my son is gay. I'm not totally thrilled about it, but he must be good. His last three boyfriends gave him a house, two cars, and a stock portfolio."

I got this from the comments in Blackwing link.

The one that jay took me for a ride in has 4 wheel steering. He flipped a I torn at speed and I was blown away.

My SIL has a CTS V wagon with a manual tranny. Guess only like a few hundred were made. Bought it back east and had it shipped to Riverside. Not my taste but it screams. He’s taken it to the drags a couple times

I hope they put that tranny in the Corvette. I wouldn't be looking at M3s and Porsches if I could get the Stingray in manual.

I don't think that will ever happen. The new Vette is a mid engine, not like the Caddy, front engine rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. It would need a transfer case designed for it. Most people now are happy with DTC, only some of us wants to row gears. Wouldn't be surprised if manual gearbox will be put out to pasture in 20 yrs or less.:(

That's true, the mid-engine deal would require a lot of new engineering.

I guess this means when the time is right I need to buy a nice GT3 in stick and hold on to it. They will be million dollars cars one day no doubt (mine won't be as it will be a driver, but still).

Yea, those are rare. If it is a manual hardtop wagon with no sunroof, super rare. I think only a few dozen made.

Sadly the auto is a faster car, but the manual is more fun.

To make sure the Blackwing version of the CT5 is up for the fight, Cadillac will fit an updated version of the CTS-V's 6.2-liter supercharged V-8, not the 550-hp twin-turbo 4.2-liter Blackwing V-8. We expect that engine to make 650 horsepower and it will be available with a 10-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. Here's a sentence we thought we'd never write: the Cadillac will be the only vehicle in its class with a manual. The availability of a three-pedal version not only warms our hearts, but it will also probably be more involving, engaging, and fun than the German competition. Fun counts.

I don’t know, Porsche seemed to have learned that lesson. The manual 911R went stupid after they said no more manuals in GT3s...And everyone revolted lol. now the manuals are back.

I think the manuals will always command more resale though.

Nice. If he wants to do a powered blower, I have a stock blower in my garage ready for porting.

If he got it that cheap, someone didn’t know what they had, or maybe he scored at Carmax.

My brother bought his V sedan at Carmax and it was below market because it had a manual and hardtop. The hardtops are pretty rare in general.

Yup! I just checked and they're listed for 350 lol.

I hope Porsche (and others) can figure out a way to keep making gasoline engines long into the future. Possibly by making a spin-off company of some sort.

Vette's are purchased by grey haired mid-life crisis old guys 😉😊

I’ll ask him about the blower. Bought it private party about 2 years ago. I remembered he was real nervous about wiring money. He bought off of pics and video from the guy. He’s a big gear head. Races his turbo oval window VW at the track.

If someone would have told me 30 years ago that there would be a day when you could get a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, an NSX or a Corvette only with an automatic, but that Cadillac would be offering cars with a stick, I would have believed that about as much as I would have believed that Donald Trump would be president, Bruce Jenner would be a woman and the world would be out of toilet paper.

^^ Best damn comment on the article

I had an 08 Z06 Vette, it only came with a manual. After being stuck in traffic for 3 hours to move only 2-½ miles I didn’t drive it for about a month then I sold it. If there wasn’t the traffic that there is here in SoCal a manual might have some attractiveness, but it’s only going to get worse. I have the auto in my 16 CTS V and love it, even if a manual was offered I’d still do the auto.

When people in the P&G and D&G sections talking about the populace “Rising up and taking our country back” again... I’m going to quote this post. :)

I prefer manuals, but with the growing traffic out here. I'm starting to see maybe an auto is better.

Of all the manual cars I had, none of them needed to be replaced ,ever. Of all the automatics, pretty much all of them, needed to be rebuilt, or replaced. 🤔 ;)

Damn, you're hard on autos man  Although with the exception of my current Camaro, all my performance vehicles have been sticks, I haven't blown an auto-trans since my 57' Ford Stabbin Wagon. 😂 When I told dad, he just grinned and said, well now you get to learn how to R&R a transmission, he was damned near giddy.

Saw a car yesterday I had to take a triple take on. Once I caught up to it at a light, I was surprised to see it was a Lotus Evora, now I see a lot of big dollar cars since we're adjacent to Rancho Santa Fe, in fact that's where this one was spotted. I recall seeing one at a car show years ago, loved the styling, but can't recall seeing one on the road.
That's a really exotic looking car and larger than the Exige. I understand it's running a solid turboed Toyota 3.5 V6, so not exactly an exotic engine package.

Anybody run one on your track ?

Automatics have their place ,ie; my 64 Lincoln, Twin Range cast iron transmission. the mot reliable. My 66 Caddy TH 400 needed rebuild, 68 Charger 383 727 Torqueflight, needed rebuild, 1980 Vette, 350 TH 350, junk tranny, until properly rebuilt,etc.....Having a sports car with auto defeats the purpose of being a sports car. :p
The Lotus Evora is a great car, member has one. But he's using a Exocet with Miata VVT train and in the process of turbo the car like me. There's a Lotus Elise and a Exege as well on or track. I like the Exige myself. If I didn't have the Viper, I'd probably get an exige for the track. Best car for the track is my son's 2001 AP1 Honda S2000. with 9K rpm range With proper slick tires it put hurt to Porsche guy's feelings, unless they have the more exotic versions like GT3 R GT2 Cup car etc....:D

No worries! The makers of these apps assure us that they don’t listen or track you digitally.

Leave the app open, take your phone and go talk to someone about some product that you’ve never talked about before.. it will pop up tomorrow :)

I've had good luck with both styles of transmissions. I'm in Langley now and all the people moving out here cause they can't afford Vancouver is staggering. Traffic getting real bad. For the street an auto is just easier.

I personally would never buy or drive one. My SIL gets pissed when I point out a Dodge Magnum and tell him “Hey is that the same car you have?” Lol
He likes that’s it’s fast, manual and not a lot of them built. To each there own I guess
