So I go to the local gun store the other day to buy ammo. They tell me I haven't bought any recently enough that I am in the database and so I have to get approved by the state. I'm in the process of filling out the form online and towards the end it's asking me for the date I purchased the gun. How in the world am I supposed to remember when I bought a gun 20 years ago? Is there a way to find this information?

It brings me to a secondary question. If I want to sell a gun do I need proper paperwork to go along with it? Do most people keep their purchase papers for decades? I'm not sure I have anything other than the manuals for most of my stuff.

I live in Havasu but was going to bird hunt with a buddy in CA. Went into Turner’s Outdoorsman in Torrance to buy my license and get steel shot (not required in AZ). First they didn’t want to sell me a license since I wasn’t a resident of CA. THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED A NON RESIDENT LICENSE!! finally got that figured out and then told me I need a background check for shotgun ammo….WTF?? Friend bought enough for 2

I tried to buy ammo but my guns are registered to my old address or something like that. I won’t buy it here now out of spite

Yeah I was planning on picking up at least a thousand rounds. I think I'm just going to drive to my sisters in Arizona so she can help me get a motorcycle registered. Once they told me about that additional 18% CA tax I'm out.

I thought the weather was so good in CA that it made most people forget about their constitutional rights.
It’s been a year or so since I bought ammo at LAX Ammo. Just showed ID. There is a new tax for 2024.

We passed it cause hood rats can't afford the extra tax and they'll obviously destroy their guns. Duh. They buy booolets like everyone else, right?

Plan ahead, order online and have it shipped. Quite a bit cheaper than the stores. This week there will be numerous Black Friday ammo sales. I've already seen 380 hollow point for 33c. Don't have one, but I know that's cheap for a defense round.

Every knows that just because you buy your guns illegally, that you have to buy your ammo legally. DUH…

It would be stupid to get a misdemeanor after committing a few felonys…

My local ace has a small section of ammo, mags and few magpul accs. Also some tannerite too. Prices ain’t bad either.

After paying you can grab a bag of popcorn on the way out.

But have a pretty good ammo seller 15 min away pretty much paying what online places sell for minus the shipping.

Are you not able to pass that question? Or make something up? What if you dont own a gun and taking a training course or something where you have to supply ammo? It's been a while since I bought ammo and I remember having to pay for and do their silly background check, dont recall answering questions about the gun

Don't buy ammo in California....I'm going to leave it at that. Definitely, don't fill out that document. Don't acknowledge on any medical form that you have anything in your home. The rest of the members will explain how to get what you need.

This^^

My kids doctor asks them if there are guns in the house on top of the paperwork that we have to fill out. Good thing is lost my guns in the unfortunate boating accident

You don’t need proper paperwork. The DOJ has a record of your purchase if you bought it from or through a dealer.

I saw those questions on a medical form and refused to answer them.

I thought they repealed the ammo bs and the 30rd mags etc?
Thanks to U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez this lasted about two weeks back in February until Commie Newscum got it rolled back by the 9th Circuit. In essence CA had a two week window to purchase online and have it shipped in. Yes, total BS but one can still purchase components and roll their own if they have the equipment.

Ha, I can go to rural king and by tannerite in 5 gallon buckets.

Hi neighbor, that’s my fiancée’s favorite coffee stand. The only thing she wants for Christmas is a few shirts from there🤣

I actually live in Gilbert but work for the home builder right down Meridian from there, I've been there a few years now. That area was ranch homes and farm land 18 years ago when i moved to Az.. Now it's tract homes as far as you can see.
