Right now is the perfect time of the year to go. The river is nice and high for the agricultural needs south of Davis. I’d be up for a trip as soon as i get my pos back together this week.

Question for the upriver ppl ... all the houses on the river in the bullhead area that have docks is there typically enough water that people leave their boats in all summer ?
No. People don't usually leave anything tied to the docks unless it's a PWC up on one of those plastic ramps that gets the whole thing out of the water. The water units released from Davis are completely dependent on what the farmers want and can range ~6' in a couple hours or more. In winter MANY of the docks in front of houses here are on dry land for a while with just a trickle of water in the center of the river. Basically we live and die by the release schedule of the dam which we check each morning. Needles and below is deep enough that Davis dam doesn't make much of a difference at all. That's why everyone in this thread is talking about their stories running North of Needles. I know the whole run from Davis to London Bridge like the back of my hand now...and it's not impossible for many boats most of the time...but you better know what you are doing, better not have a 40' Apache offshore race boat and better look at the Davis dam release schedule...otherwise $$$

Most people got it figured out in the comments before me, though. So I'm just being repetitive.

I have only gone past the needles bridge a handful of times. Lately I been launching from willow valley up river for some sunset cruises and I’m getting pretty comfortable cruising till right before the avi bridge.

@Matt Mead you want to show me the route next weekend? Just me and you on your boat. Pm me. Or if anyone is willing to show me pm. I’ll use my truck to launch your boat and I’ll pay for the gas.

Haha! I've only done it in our 21' Shockwave jet and I don't think I'll do it with my outboard Tahiti... yet, for several reasons. Shockwave is getting the motor rebuilt and the Tahiti has 15 minutes of testing time on it and is literally sinking (I'm patching holes right now). Like others have said, it's not a bad idea to rent a PWC or two and try the run out. Just make sure to stand up and look down at the water with polarized sunglasses to really see what's going on. Sometimes you can see the ripple of water over the shallow areas or just see the color change even at a bad angle. After a bit it doesn't seem so hard. Just gotta know the few spots to zig zag. TBH, Big Bend park is probably the biggest prop/impeller/hull killer on the whole run. When we sit on the beach on a busy day at least 5 people are going back to the trailer with damage from that area, lol.

I've done it many times in a direct drive ski Malibu, there's no tilting yore motor up in that.
3 units is minimum. 4 units is a breeze. 5 units is enough to float the Queen Mary.

I mainly use a 21' day cruiser, jet.
Don't follow me, you might not make it.😎

It's a buddy of mines 21' Bahner. I believe he is putting it up for sale soon or may have already, I was actually gonna buy it before I found my Daytona.
Could you PM me what you know about the power package and his contact info in case it’s a match for me. Thanks

Think the 230 is safe at 3 units?
Wasn’t planning on bringing it down but I will

Launch from Jack Smith...
Jack Smith to Pirates is like 8 miles? To the channel 25ish?

@ChrisV where would you stay? What time would we leave in the AM? Sat or Sun?

@Bullhead bully are you thinking about coming out? Is Jack SMith good place to launch?

I will know by 3 today. My boat is prepped and ready, I just need to see about my wife also.

With my twin 260's, I think I can run roughly 60-70miles, then fill up. Depends on the pace too. I am good with whatever.

Sounds good to me. @Duramax leggo
My wife and kids are supposed to go with her mom to see her brother later today and will get back Sunday night. One of the kids is not feeling well so they are in a holding pattern for a few hours. If they go, I am in 100%.

We launch at Windsor 8-9, run up to Needles and back? 120miles and I am good for roughly 60-70miles on full tanks. @Bullhead bully where can we get gas on the river?
@ChrisV can you make 120 on full tanks?

I'm fine with whatever tbh. My boat takes half a tank from springs to pirates. Whatever distance that is.

I don’t know if the Avi casino still has gas. For sure pirates and 66 are options for Fuel

My Nordic holds 110 gallons. And round-trip from Windsor to Davis dam and back I usually burn about 55.
