We have spent the last 6 years or so boating out of Willow Valley area, great homebase for boating and had some great neighbors. Enjoyed many fun days boating Needles, Topock, Pirates Cove some great parts of the river. Our kids are of the age where watersports really matter, and we wanted to get back to more of a mellow family boating lifestyle. So we moved to lower river... The shallow water and hostile natives make this area almost intolerable, hopefully it will all work out...

Our old Carrera 20.5 Elite has been a great boat, but due for a full makeover and had over 400hrs on her. Trailer was also ready for a makeover, so I weighed the options of fixing her up, vs. going used boat or new boat. A wakeboard boat would be a great for us but it really needed to be a Jet not wanting to be restricted to lower river water levels. Disclaimer if you have Jet Bote hatred to move along there is nothing of interest for you:D. Another thing most will hate is it will have a wakeboard tower. First, I looked at Yamaha’s, ugly and twin motors, nope. Chapparel Vortex, kinda cool, lot’s of features, twin Rotax, mixed reviews, nope. Scarab, nope.

Then I got back to business and focused on our west coast builders. First, the Tahiti Offshore 21 Skier, Todd is building some nice family custom boats and a couple people I spoke with speak highly of his builds. I also looked at the Cobra 210, again very nice boat and I have read nothing but good things from RDP about them. Lastly, Shockwave’s classic 21 Skier. I should note I would have looked at Ultra, but everything I have read about the "are they in business" shut that idea down. Thought you guys would like to guess who we chose and enjoy watching our build. So, Tahiti, Cobra or Shockwave…

X2 on Shockwave. They build a great boat. And they have a number of jet boat hulls to choose from. 21 LS, 21 Skier, 22 Lexus, 22 Deck

Water Wheel was the place to be 35-40 years ago. Had a blast down there for many years. They threw us out and made it a trailer park and that was the end for us. Wound up at McIntyre for the remainder of our "younger years". Most definitely Jet boat water at both places. Have a good time!!!!!

2018 Shockwave 21 Skier! LS3 (440hp), setback pump, inducer, shoe and ride, hyrdaulic diverter with trim on wheel. Doing something uncommon with the seat layout and I think it will turn out bitchen! Shockwave builds a pretty loaded boat, but open to any suggestions if you have been through the build process.

I’m interested to see the seat layout...when we looked at 21 ft jet boats, there was very little space between the rear bench and front seats in the shockwave. And little space I mean a child would have trouble with their legs between the rear and front seats.

We ultimately went with the Advantage 21 SR BR.

I would hardly call Water Wheel a "dumpy trailer park" it's one of the nicer spots along the lower river. As far as a 21' jet I would contact Todd Kelly with Tahiti Offshore, they are pumping out some nice family boats.

I think the Shockwave 21 Skier actually has quite abit of room in the cockpit area. It is one of the cab forward styles, same hull layout used by Ultra and a few others.

I have been a Water Wheel Resort resident for 24 years now. This is easily one of the nicest parks on the lower river and the community of members within are even nicer. A family resort if you will, not a "dumpy trailer park" at all.

Not trying to sound defensive or hostile, but long time residents like myself and others don't like when the park is falsely talked down. Don't be shy on making friends, us natives are always welcoming!! Feel free to stop by for a beer whenever! (SP.140) Front corner row.

As for building an open bow 21' jet. I would contact Todd Kelly over at Tahiti Boats, their 21' Offshore Skier is a beauty. Great family boat! Good luck with whatever you decide to build.

Cheers.

Yes joking aside we go way back to the camping days in the park.

I think the back seat areas bigger when everyone starting doing full set backs on the pumps. Now the motor sits close to where an outdrive motor goes. Its crazy but it works.
Congrats on the Shockwave. Nice boat. See you on the water this summer!!!!

Grew up as a kid at water wheel- now we are at Hidden Valley/ Rio Loco channel for the last 20 + years.
Watch out for the alligators, no joke. The sunken indian arrows destroy props so be careful!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats. Looks fantastic. You will enjoy working with and having a Shockwave. And IMO you are going with the right pump install (setback, inducer, rideplate/shoe, diverter, etc.)

Controller on the swimstep! Rollbar is on, real happy with the color match. I wanted a white steering wheel but blue is what I got.

I sold a Advantage 20.5 jet and bought a Shockwave Step Skier. Went from jet to 496 Mag Bravo. I can never say enough good about Bob and his crew. They are always available to help. I’ve called Bob twice while i was on Lake Mohave and he always has time to help. Next boat will be another Shockwave.

What kind of numbers do you see out of a 496 in the SR?

I don’t have a SR. Have a Step Skier. Bob said it should go 75. I have had it at 65 with the family. Still had more throttle.

Awesome looking boat congrats! You'll be very happy with Shockwave. A family friend of mine has an 02 step skier, we've put that boat through hell and back several times and still holds up great.

Love the colors, and Bob / Shockwave are great. White steering wheels are hard to keep clean anyway so you lucked out ---

I haven't been to water wheel in at least 20 years. I had friends who had a place there and it was awesome at the time. Everyone in there was super friendly and watched out for each other. Its sad to hear the park is dumpy now!

Shockwave nailed it, super happy with the boat. The interior is huge for this size of a boat and we love the cubbie storage everywhere. Pops out of the hole nice with the inducer, has been easy to tow kids at slow wakeboard speeds. Thanks Bob and Greg at Shockwave. Also Greg @ GS Marine for advice on pump setup for what I wanted.
