...can kiss my ass.

I have 3 of their inexpensive laser printers....one out in the shop (print only...pretty basic) that I use for printing shipping labels. It's about 3 months old and has had 2 reems of paper through it. About a month ago, I started getting notifications popping up to change the toner cartridge because it was low. I've printed another reem so far and it still prints perfectly....just the stupid pop-up every time. I wonder what sort of an environmental impact exists with throwing away 1/2 full toner cartridges? Maybe if the greenies came after 'em they'd calm the shenanigans?

Printer manufactures know laser printers last a long time, so they want you buying toner as often as possible.

I'm sure a lot of people just believe whatever the computer says and they spend a lot of money on toner.

Me I buy HPs printers, and only the ones that accept a high capacity X toner cartridge. I can do about a big box of paper on one toner. That lasts me probably 5+ years now as I hardly print anything now.

I have a Brother printer. It worked fine until I needed new ink cartridges. I made the mistake of buying non Brother ink. Now it prints blanks. I read that I may need to buy Brother ink products.? Is this true.?

I've been using aftermarket cartridges in my other printers and they work fine. Take the shipping cover off the cartridge before you install it

Brother Toner Reset Warning

When you replace a Brother toner cartridge and the printer continues to display the “Replace Toner” warning, you may need to reset the toner counter. Here are the steps to reset the toner counter for different Brother printer models:
  • Brother DCP, MFC, and HL Color Printers:
    1. Open the toner access door.
    2. Press the ‘Clear/Back’ button to access the ‘Reset Menu’.
    3. Scroll through the reset options for each toner cartridge color (BK, C, Y, M).
    4. Select the proper size and color of the toner cartridge you want to reset, then press OK.
    5. Press ‘1’ to reset.
    6. Press ‘Clear/Back’ to exit the menu, then close the door.

  • Brother HL Monochrome (Black and White) Printers:
    1. Open the front cover and leave it open.
    2. Turn the printer off.
    3. Hold the ‘Go’ button while turning the printer on. All panel lights should be on.
    4. Release the ‘Go’ button.
    5. Press the ‘Go’ button 2 times, pause, then press it 5 times.
    6. The toner light should be off, and the paper light should be on or flashing.
    7. Close the cover. The ready light should be the only light on.
  • Brother MFC Monochrome (Black and White) Printers:
    1. Open the front cover.
    2. Press the ‘Go’ button while turning the printer on.
    3. Press * and then 00, then press OK.
It’s important to use brand new, unused genuine Brother toner cartridges to ensure the reset lever is correctly positioned and the printer recognizes the new cartridge. If the issue persists, contact Brother Customer Support for further assistance.

We have seven different brother printers. They all look great and I use the inexpensive cartridges. I get off of eBay and a case at a time. They’re not many more you still might find some inexpensive black-and-white ones but the most reliable black-and-white only printer from an office was a MFC- 2710 DW. Look on eBay somewhere else maybe one for sale. One of the ones I have is six years old working like a workhorse every day.
