I have a Zamboni floor scrubber deal that was left unplugged for a while, battery’s are dead dead dead, and internal smart charger isn’t picking them up and charging. I read thread on here about being able to shock the battery’s back to life, how would you do that on 6 volt battery?

It’s wired up in series to make 24 volts, I don’t want to damage the charger of circuit board in this machine.

Any chance of not buying new battery’s?

Well you can treat it like two 12-volt batteries.

Try an old school 12-volt charger with a boost function on the two Banks treating them like 12 volts each for a start.
So if I take them out and zap them as a 12 volt series with some jumper cables for a few minutes then put them back in will that do it, maybe?

No need to take them out. Like the diagram posted if the negative is on One battery and the positive is on the battery next to it that's 12 volts.

The booster or charger won't see the batteries upstream or downstream of that connection.

You can connect a 12 volt charger to two batteries at a time. if the charger won't start charging you can jump start those two batteries while the charger is connected to get it going.

Checked the date on the battery’s and they were from 2020, figured fick it I’ll take them down to interstate and just go new and move on with life. Dude at battery shop was super cool, told me to go to Costco as the same battery’s was almost half the price. Was gonna spend $980.00 and ended up spending $471.00 for same battery’s at Costco. Score.

Clean floors in 3….2…..1….

Dead battery threads sux. Both @whiteworks and @RiverDave ask how to nurse batteries back then big time the thread by replacing them without any attempt.

Par for the course in my book, if batteries aren't working as intended they get replaced. Even if you get them back for a minute, they aren't going to last for long.

I left lights on In trailer found out 2-3 weeks later. Mine at wires In series to make 12v so I got the old school charger out and began charging them. Couple days later they were good again. This was 2 years ago and they are re still going.

Not just a few minutes. Once you get them to where the charger will accept them, they'll need some work.

They need a maximum current charge for 30-45 minutes. You'll need to monitor the electrolyte temperature, which means a hand on the side of the battery case or a look with a handheld infrared gun. Keep them under 80°. Pay attention to the electrolyte, if it begins to generate excessive hydrogen gas, reduce the charge rate.

Costco 6v for the win. Although those Trojans would probably have survived.

I really was gonna give it a go, but then I started thinking that this was a nickel holding up a dollar, my week is busy and I just don’t have the time to really dig in and monkey around with these. At $1000.00 I was thinking let’s see what the battery shop can do with them. Date was 4 years old on all of them, and one had a wonky terminal. Once dude said Costco had the deal it was clear that it was time to move on to more pressing tasks and fix the battery situation by throwing some money at it.

If this was a different week and I was watching dry paint dry more, I’d be all in for tinkering and trying to save the cash. Learned some stuff though so not a total waste.

Take em over to Interstate (right around the corner of the airport) and they can Accurately test them for you (charged or not).

When I need 6V batteries, I get em from the golf cart shops (they have take outs).

Done deal.

Battery Sales Unlimited has always done me right. Had a couple that were super shot in the ‘65 and at some point a consumer charger just won’t do it. Drop me off for a day and back as new.
