Have to pick up my step-daughter and her husband from the port tomorrow morning. Any decent restaurants that my wife and I can go grab breakfast at?

This place for breakfast from what I have heard. I made a post about the best breakfast in the Southbay and a lot of people replied Pacific diner in Pedro. If I get a few minute break this morning I will hit Rudy's in old Torrance. There was 1 in Wilmington not far from the port. I usually only go to Pedro for dinner at Think Prime.

100% The Chowder Barge! It's a dive on the water deep back in the marine, but its GOOD!

Thanks but they don't open until 11am. We planned to eat there before picking up the kids at 8am.

My Bad, Chowder Barge is more of a lunch spot too. I was just thinking about bomb places to eat in Pedro/Wilmington

No worries. I didnt specify time but will consider this place if we are ever in the area for lunch or dinner.

I'm at Rudy's now. Wife and I love it. Been to the one in Wilmington a few times, but old town location is better.

Thanks and will most likely go to Eat at Rudys or Pacific Diner. Doesn't appear to be far from the San Pedro Port.

My boss took me there 15yrs ago. Been in love with their biscuits and gravy ever since.
Rudy was the cook at Eat at Joe's in Redondo Beach. Followed him over to old Torrance which was much closer to MY house. He sold it years ago. When he was running it I could walk in and be eating within 2 minutes. Now you can't even get a seat majority of the time without waiting. One of the cooks recently opened the Nook in Lomita with a partner that owns the Chile Verdes. I would go there daily but the service is shit unless one of the owners is there. I don't have time to wait 10 minutes to put my order in when the place is empty. Food is great. I gave up trying to support them. Even with tipping $10 on my 18 bill it didn't help. Hot n tot is ok but great service.

Packed with old folks. 2 old Guys next to me today said there og customers from the 50s. Problem is they don't work and sit there taking up all the counter seats. Lol

A few of those ladies definitely catering to them. They at least are hustlers. I hadn't gone for 2 years or so as it got shitty during covid and after. The lady still recognized me and service was excellent and food was back to pre covid.

The bonanza next to terminal island freeway had a good breakfast but went south with new ownership. i use to pick up breakfast for all the guys with a 50% coupon I had, plus they would give mine free for bringing all the biz, truck driver special, 4 of everything.

Pacific diner has the best machaca and eggs!👍
Pacific Diner doesn't disappoint. One of my customers eats there a few times a week and has them open up for him every year for the shop Christmas party....great food.

The parking is terrible but a good place to have breakfast. Try parking along the curb facing north across the street from the restaurant.

… If that is the restaurant on Anaheim… I used to eat there all the time… when it was the Bonanza… Had a girlfriend that was the hostess when I lived aboard… She would bring bags of great food to all of us drunken idiots down on the dock… Late weekend evenings… when she got off work…
… 1978 to 1986. There were not really any great places to eat in San Pedro…. In Wilmington… there were three really good food restaurants… The Bonanza… Dorothys… Which we used to call Dirty Dorothy’s… which was truly a truckstop …And I can’t remember the name of the really good dinner house diagonally across the street from Dirty Dorothy’s🤷🏽‍♀️… Maybe The Red something or other???…
.., Man, I miss those days🔍

@Willie B I bet you remember the Pegasus in the LA/LB harbor area.
… I remember the name… But give me a clue🤷🏽‍♀️

… Had to Google it… I believe I ate there once in my yacht painting days…
… Another name I remember popped up in googling the Pegasus… Joe Biffs… Now I’m going to Google that and see what pops up… There were some really interesting restaurants, and bars In the LA Harbor area in the 70s and 80s🤷🏽‍♀️

… There was one place and it may have been a beer bar, but the waitresses were topless… I don’t know if that was the Pegasus or not???…

… There was a really really dive beer bar right next to the old Henry Ford assembly line and virtually right under the terminal island bridge… Was in there one night drinking beer with my buddy…two boats over …Albert… We were warming up for our next stop …which who knows where a night in those days would take us … So I’m talking to a guy that was sitting next to me and I noticed a big ring on his finger… I probably said something stupid like what’s up with the ring… Well, he told me it was a World Series ring… Of course I didn’t believe him…A barmaid steps up and says…that’s the real deal… I think his name was Mickey Lolitch???… this probably would’ve been about 1980… Wish I could remember the name of that place… The place was such a dive even the hard-core fishermen wouldn’t go there…🤷🏽‍♀️

Lingerie was the uniform. Most wore sheer babydoll dresses that were short and see through enough to have the goods on display. Great food as well.
