You can hear the lawyers getting queued up as we speak. The 14th Amendment says otherwise.

This isn't their first rodeo, they're ready to rock and roll. Buckle up snowflakes!!!! 🤣

Granting citizenship to the spawn of law breaking illegals is not quite what the 14th was written for. Come in legally and yes the children you birth should be citizens.

And the second amendment wasn't for weapons of war.... It either all applies as written or none of it does, IMHO.

I would like to see an SCOTUS opinion upholding that meme. It is my understanding that clause allows for children born to US citizens outside of the US to retain natural citizenship. I could be wrong, I often am. If people don't like the law as written then change it, the Constitution tells you how to accomplish that.

This is where I was going with it....we cant say its ok to change one amendment but then bitch and moan when they talk about changing a different one....we are either for the constitution or not....

What is equally interesting is does such an executive order then strip citizenship
from the millions historically granted citizenship under the 14th.

And further, their children, believing they were born to US citizens were now not, invalidating their citizenship.

The INS and state department are going to need a big budget boost to sort this stuff out.

Good time to be a lawyer. Going to be plenty of business going forward.

just turn those 80,000 IRS agents into INS agents. That's where we really need more federal employees to take care of the migrant crisis the idiots you support created.

Exactly. If they can just change the 14th, what stops the next blue president from changing the 2nd..?

It's amazing to me to have American citizens fight so hard for those who illegally crossed our boarder and shouldn't be here. Our own Government helping those that crossed illegally. It's mind-blowing actually.. Let's help everyone out except the tax paying citizens of America. I just don't understand the logic. And it's gotta be more than just getting votes.

We’ve been here at work the last few day marveling at that very thing.
The lib talking heads literally cry at the thought of putting America and its citizens first…then wail about how that is the death of democracy.
It seems that they conflate global fairness and equality with the rights of the United States Citizens.
No surprise I guess, this is exactly what Obama forwarded via his anti colonialism agenda.
Their brains are so fucked up from a lifetime of irrational thought that they can no longer process reality.
They contradict themselves with every breath…then they just scream.
It’s bizarre.

If we allow the government to ignore the constitution and the rule of law to accomplish what we agree with, we can’t really bitch when the government ignores the constitution and rule of law to accomplish what we disagree with.

And go after the employers.
100%, but who does someone call when an employer gets and obvious fake SS card? I tried reporting someone years ago when I lived in SoCa and was an employer and got nowhere.

We also need to update the SS card. It seems ridiculous to me that we don't have a modern SS card with some security behind it.

You mean like fix the whole broken social security system that is probably in reality insolvent after all these years. How about if you didn't pay in funds, you don't get to take out funds.

But why are some of my liberal friends hell bent on taking care of Illegal immigrants? It's like they are rewarded for crossing the boarder illegally. Please answer this and help me understand.

Be honest, are you willing to house a family that illegally crossed the border and take care of them financially? As in move in to your house?

No you wouldn't...

Taking care of people that don't pay taxes or contribute is a way to sink an economy, and the middle class.

The vote of the States, if I’m not mistaken.

I don’t claim to be super well versed in constitutional law outside things that pertain to my job, but that whole thing is such a slippery slope.

People crawl under barbed wire and risk drowning just to try for a piece of the American Dream™️.. but there’s got to be a better way to handle the whole thing.

Actually, it was written specifically for weapons of war to be used against a tyrannical government at a time that the founding fathers feared a standing army. Self protection against crime and shooting sports were an added benefit. Later through SCOTUS cases, military weapons were excluded such as machine guns. That said, in many states like Louisiana, you can get a permit to own just about anything without "de-militarizing" it.

Merit based immigration as it used to be.

Not sure if people remember this, but Trump was laser focused on that and ICE was tough on overstaying VISAS. Nice TM on the American Dream. 😝

As for those of you who question why our nation helps illegals not only get here, but support once they do, it is because they are whores for cheap labor and whores for votes. Both sides also love the talking point every 4 years when elections come around.

Trump will be fighting both sides and a fight is what it will be. I understand the Constitutional argument and the slippery slope it exposes, but it is a conversation that this country needs to have. It will be EPIC!!!! 🤣

100% securing the border and it's loopholes needs to be priority #1.

I don't think this is a wise thing to prioritize and vocalize RIGHT NOW, before the election has even been digested and he has taken office.

Changing our policies (federal and state) to make receiving financial support or benefits of any kind impossible or extremely limited for illegals, will naturally make alot of these people leave, and reduce the influx of people trying to come here in the first place.

Figuring out what to do with the ones that are left (and most importantly, the ones who have been here illegally for a long time, with natural born children who are established) will be something that is not easy to figure out. I honestly cant see them being deported. There's gonna be some serious red tape and strong public scrutiny on how this is figured out and handled. He needs to tread carefully.

My idea: A stature of limitations (cutoff), with requirements.

If you have been here before Biden / February 2020, you are qualified to stay, but must complete the process of being vetted and go thru the process of gaining citizenship, by a deadline.

If you came here under Biden's absolute shitshow lax border security (After January '20) you gotta go.
You must come into America as a legal immigrant, or not at all.
If you have birthed a child while you are here within the last 4 years - You can be considered to stay, but must go thru the process of being thoroughly vetted and obtaining citizenship by a deadline.

And then . . . for the illegals (and children) who would be allowed to stay - Assign them an "illegal immigrant ID" of sorts (separate from our normal system) to track them, and force them (and allow them) to immediately pay taxes on earnings and pay into the recources that they are using. Make them pay their money, same as US citizens. Then, systematically make these illegals go thru the process of citizenship, and set a deadline. If they don't complete the process by the deadline - you gotta leave. Of course, we would need to streamline that process and take a hard look at how to do that with millions of people. Part of that process is extensive backround vetting. If they are found to have ties to criminal activity, terrorist activity, drug cartels, red flag issues, etc - You are disqualified and deported.

MOVING FORWARD - No illegals can stay, receive any support while here, and are subject to immediate deportation to their country of origen. AND . . . that company of origin will either pay, rack up a bill with us if they can't pay, or have their foreign aid from us deducted accordingly if they are receiving aid from us. Make these countries control their own borders as well!

Well all weapons used when the constitution was written have been used in war and no there was no exceptions of weapons when written.

I don't see the same connection.

I've never supported illegal immigration and have no interest in supporting any illegal immigrants. I don't even have any interest in supporting US citizens who are perfectly capable of working but want to live off the dole because they can't find a job they "like". All those fuckers during covid taking 600 bucks a week off the federal government when there were millions of unfilled jobs was ridiculous. Those Americans who were capable of working milking the system were worse than illegals, most of the illegals are willing to work.

I have however repeatedly supported cleaning up a 4 decade old law that is so complicated and convoluted that it is only second in number of pages to the Internal Revenue Code, but ironically people keep telling me my penchant for doing things consistent with the law makes me a liberal? Who would have known that liberals are now the ones who want to do shit right. 🤷‍♂️

So I have to agree with your comment. I too am tired of "Taking care of people that don't pay taxes or contribute is a way to sink an economy, and the middle class", but I can recognize it isn't just the illegals. If we thought about it, there are probably some illegals we would gladly swap for some of our own citizens if it was simply based upon merit.

People seem to have this misconception about immigration into the USA.
We as a nation have had all kinds of restrictions, quotas, limits, qualifications and even race based bans on immigration for well over 100 years.
Trump is not the devil closing our borders.
It will be a miracle if he can even plug the hole a little bit after the complete disaster of the last 4 years.

In 1882 we outright banned Chinese immigrants, and the 1920’s had several big laws enacted in the wake of WWI and we implemented all kinds of low skilled bans.
We have ALWAYS been sort of tight and careful about who comes here, comparatively speaking, and even how many from various countries.
The last 4 years have pretty much been a total free for all violating over a centuries worth of immigration standards.

But for some reason, Trump is Hitler for even TRYING to get it back on historical track.

Having said that, again, he should not attempt this EO.
It’s clearly not possible and will be a total waste of resources. He will have to do it another way.

Nice try dickhead.

So having paid unemployment insurance for over 30 years without a claim, then drawing it for 4 months until another drilling job came open makes me a pos freeloader?
Milking the system, worse than an illegal?
Fuck you.
I’ve paid in my entire life. Both taxes AND UI.
Remember that next time you have a vehicle repaired with an insurance claim…or use your home insurance for something. Will that also be milking the system??
Conflating an insurance claim and a handout seems about right for your purposes though…and I never asked for the $600

I remember how you lost your mind when I built my model airplanes. 😂
That was funny shit.

Your passive aggressive tilt at martyrdom is laughable.
You do see I’m agreeing with you about the EO?

Doing an EO like this is simply strategy, it's "The Big Ask"... If/When invalidated it will force all the people against it to take a public stance(popular sentiment in the country is against birthright citizenship as it has been greatly abused), it also puts the issue under a spot light for the republicans in congress to do something about it from a legislative standpoint.

There is much debate over the "and subject to the jurisdiction of" sentence in the 14th amendment, because the rulings happened well over 100 years ago before there was a problem with 'anchor babies' the interpretation has been left rather open.

I get that society is in information overload, but how many times do we have to be reminded of Trump's strategies/tactics of negotiation, which he literally has spelled out plainly in many of his books going back 30-40 years....

This is why we voted for Trump, we are done with the days where politicians just say "That Can't Be Done" so they never even try... and we are just left with the status quo circling the drain.

Will National Security trump the 14th because I thought the 14th stated that people need to be treated fair and even to the law? I believe that there is a loophole regarding national security versus migrant invasion however I have been wrong before. I think He will get Elon to review a lot of our current systems and workings to evade the typical hand out and free loading and can't wait to see it happen.

Nothing pisses me off more than people taking advantage of the system (not only taking from it but those regulating it).

Americans should be taken care of before illegal immigrants, period.. Hurricane victims, Fire victims, Flood victims, the elderly, Veterans etc.. Should get the priority over people who cross our border. It's absolutely nuts that the left is so against that border wall, Harris deserves to lose just off the border issue and how they failed at it. Absolutely no accountability.. And it's not a race thing.

Try getting into Australia.... Not gonna happen until you prove to that government that you can contribute. I see nothing wrong with that.

I was my employer for many years.
We went through this back during Covid when he called me a freeloader.

He thought I should go do yard work or whatever.
Like he would ever do that.

After 4 months of unemployment (6 weeks only of the stipend) I got a drilling job at a big water well outfit.
So I went from a Directional Drilling consultant at >$1200 a day to hanging on the back of a drilling truck for $28 an hour (a job usually performed by 20 and 30 year olds) and he calls me a freeloader.
It took a full year of that job to get back to a DD job.
But I did it, and am now 23 months from retirement.

We need to stop the flow of people from our southern border first and foremost. If people know that they cannot get in, they will stop coming. The Mexican government needs to be dealt with for allowing the flow and support of these migrating peoples, the cartels need to be dealt with, and the money behind the effort needs to be penalized/eliminated. This isn't just a bunch of people fleeing mexico dirt shanties, there is a coordinated, organized, & highly funded effort to support the flow of immigrants from all over the world. It truly is an invasion. The invasion needs to be stopped and then the folks that were shuttled into our country illegally need to be dealt with on an as needed basis. End up in prison? deported immediately.

Wrong. The consumer does. Employers add those costs into their product or service and the consumer pays for it.
It’s always been that way. It’s required. No different than any other business overhead.
I calculated into my day rates as a consultant, and W2 employers calculated against my hourly earnings as an employee.
So, at least in my line of work, whenever I’ve been a W2 worker, UI is absolutely addressed at the negotiating table.
And when I’m a consultant, it goes the other way.
Doesn’t matter who’s paying it, it’s a business overhead.

How about paying back all the money that's been taken out of by the government. Plus any interest that money would have made

With that logic I guess the consumer pays the fuel bill for every company that has a vehicle. I was merely pointing out that an employee doesn't pay it the contributions come from the employer to EDD etc

Technically speaking.
But in my case it was always negotiated and offset in my net compensation package whenever I was W2 or 1099.
I realize that’s usually not the case in workaday jobs, but since being a DD it’s always been a factor and I’ve always paid it myself…one way or another.
Nothing about my job is normal…😂😂🤷🏼‍♂️

These days most DD companies offer either W2 or 1099 options.
The problem is that now they all go through consulting firms to manage the 1099 option. Which costs me money, and creates an entire middleman scenario.
They never used to do that, but it’s cheaper for them now.
