I will hold back my comments until this thread gets going.

This is a man overboard video, from start to finish. Just take a look.

Comments?

How often is that inlet that treacherous? I see many videos but always wonders if that’s a common occurrence

Surfer deserves a good dinner from that crew. Unfortunately, adds to the chaos, and risks there being 2 recoveries...but did good.

That’s just a typical windy day in SoFlo………

Here‘s the deal about inlets……..

It really doesn’t matter how windy it is, because what you are seeing at both Haulover and Boca Inlet, is the outgoing tide stacking up, against a counter current or wind. That’s what makes for fun videos. Once the tide reverses…… all the cameramen go home.

I have been in many situations in which the conditions in the above video would be considered very mild in comparison. I once spent approx 3 hours in which all I could do is concentrate on the wave in front of me…… not the 10,000 waves behind it. I was so fatigued……. Absolutely exhausted from the never ending pressure to keep making good decisions, for endless hours.

BTW……. Are any of you familiar with the term: Snap Roll?

The passenger was caught in a “Snap Roll” that ejected him from the boat.

I am aware of deaths occurring from snap rolling. One in particular, a Licensed Captain being Snap Rolled off the flybridge of a Sportfisher, while entering Jupiter Inlet. It is an awful video to watch, because I know the outcome. You can see it too, with a simple google search…….. but I won’t post it.

The short time we lived in FL, there were numerous incidents at the inlets, particularly with open bow boats.

It happens to Center Consoles also. If I posted all the stupid in SoFlo on a daily basis, I’d wouldn’t have a life.

This video is a prime example of what not to do……
