I’m in a position where I can redo my interior. No one is answering their phones in Havasu. Is everyone still on vacation!?

I’d say that is the case. I made a few calls last week to contractors and not one call back. Will have to try again this week. Best of luck to the challenge. Communication is spotty and you have pull them along for the ride. Kind of happened with our Bimini last month. Unless you have someone that can pull some strings for you. 👍

Take it outside of Havasu if you can. I highly recommend Rene at Riverside Boat Upholstery. He is spot on with details, timing and pricing. Very nice guy to work with. He did my interior this summer and we couldn’t be happier.

I have many options in cali but no desire to drag the boat back blind with no quotes. I’ll pay for convenience but don’t wanna get focked around either. Definitely a double edged sword

I hear that and that’s a legit concern.

Rene was able to quote me without seeing it. It’s a 21’ open bow so I’m sure they’re all somewhat cookie cutter in general layout. I did the entire thing including all new wood and carpet. He gave me price options for just interior, with or without wood, carpet etc.

The guy knows his stuff and is super humble and he knew exactly what I was going after. Had it done in two weeks and kept his word on everything. He didn’t take it until he had the space (it’s locked up inside his warehouse) and delivered it exactly on time and budget.

Who in the hell declared yesterday MONDAY a holiday??? No mail, no bank, no doctor or lab was open? These are all places I tried to utilize yesterday. I even saw Football games being played during the day. Since when does everyone get a second New Year's Day off from work???

When the holiday falls on a weekend, its normal to have it observed the following work day.

Most companies follow if the holiday falls on a Sat. Friday is the Day off. If the holiday falls on a Sunday then Monday is the day off.

Really have been wanting to give him a call/go down there. Everyone else wants an arm and a leg and I am just not sure I want to part with either just yet!
It’s a chunk of money for sure. Prices increased over the year I was talking to him and before I was ready to commit. But we’re really happy with it and his quality was top notch.

We used Rene last year and he was awesome. Towed the boat down, spent about two hours going over materials / colors / design and immediately towed the boat right home. About 2-3 weeks later he was ready and I brought the boat back to him and left it overnight while he installed everything. Fortunately it's only about an hour from our place to his but an out of towner might have an issue with his process. He has just enough room to store one boat indoors during the final install.

I talked to Rene about 3 weeks ago and he was heading out on vacation. I was trying to get a buddy setup for an appointment and Rene said the soonest he's open is mid-March. That's probably April or May by now.

Rene speaks very good English but my hunch is he prefers to TEXT. When he and his team are cranking out work that guy is so busy that I think a phone call probably pisses him off as it takes him away from what he was doing.

Aloha

Who are you calling? Main Stich? In Stitches? Upholstery Specialties?

I know Main Stitch is a month or more out as I was looking to just redo my cover and my Bimini top. Upholstery Specialties actually referred me out, I guess he’s busy.

@McRib did you call Nordic? I was in there today and they were working. Someone always answers the phone. What about Interceptor, Cheetah or Conquest??

Tick tock.....if you want it done before the season.

I just had the upholstery done and my ski Natique. I got prices all over the board. I ended up going to Stream Dreams. They did an excellent job and did it on time when they said they would. Almost all the other companies in Havasu were way more money. I paid 5,600 and I had prices up to 15,000. So yes do your homework.

After a week of research I’ve narrowed it down to 2 out of 4. Not gonna throw names.

I had a quote 2 yrs ago from 1. Reached out and haven’t heard a revised quote but they are like august till I can be got at.

Had a second go look at the boat and they are VERY proud of their prices and not shooting out that warm and fuzzy feeling. Almost felt like they thought they were doing me a favor. ZERO customer service feeling.

3rd is the cheapest (by cheap I mean within my budget) and is the MOST convenient. Almost all in house where my boat is but idk much about the guy but have seen his work and it looks good.

Number 4 is 2k more than 3 but the person I dealt with had customer service skills that were awesome.

The difference between 3 and 4 is I haven’t verbally spoke to 3. It been all text but he’s had hands on the boat.

I’m leaning towards 3 for cost, location, and convenience.

Both 3 and 4 will have me done before DS.

3 is a late feb start with early apr finish.
4 can get me in next week but they 2k more and not leaving me much oh shit room for surprises. 3 I have room for surprises.

I can only imagine all involved are getting supplies from all the same vendors so it comes down to detail/fit and finish. All these upholstery guys have likely all worked for the same companies at some point.

What say y’all?

Would go with 3 and use the $2k saved and do some other upgrades like stereo components??

Or use the $2k saved for a ceramic coating or something like that.

That is the plan and there is wiggle room for the oh shit factor with my budget. Stereo stuff already purchased.

It would be nice to find a good shop down south of the border that could be trusted and safe. Drop off upholstery and get your teeth fixed and stock up on Ivermectin and Viagra for a fraction of the cost.
