Tonight I treed my first black bear, with assistance of neighbors.

Game and fish are darting him/her as I write. He’s going to get a new home.

He’ll be back, my cowboy buddys in Wyoming told me you have to educate problem bears or they will just keep coming back.

First thing you do is rope it, then you drag it around for a while, then you hog tie it and let the boxing guy take a few pokes at it, then you drag it around some more and let it loose.

It won’t come back, according to the cowboys 😂

Should have called me. I would have taken him for ya. ☺

Excellent job on getting him tree'ed up.

Did you use dogs?
4 people. Keeping him up in the tree, until the dart arrived was nerve racking for us, and the bear.

That little bear laying between the 2 guys looks like a 75 lb bear if that. I wouldn't be concerned about that little guy. A red Ryder bb gun would haze him.
Bad for kids and pets, that's for sure. Flagstaff is a bit more...refined?...than my area. Most guys down here would have shooed it away with a broom if around the house. If it were bothering pets or livestock, dispatched with sidearm and Deputies called. (Oddly, then deputies call animal park, and it becomes lion chow)

He didn’t concern me much at all but he kept coming back day after day. It’s been a month and a half now he’s been wandering up and down my street. As the OP says lots people out walking and kids playing in the neighborhood. My concern was my kid walking around a corner and surprising it, or zipping around a corner on a scooter and coming face to face with it. Otherwise they will typically leave you alone.

Its almost guaranteed if i forget to bring my trash cans in at night the bears hit them.
They

have broke into my garage and wife's car.
Blasting them with rubber buck works pretty good to detour them. And it's kinda fun.

Black Bears are unpredictable wild animals. Prescott AZ, mid June, a healthy, unprovoked black bear attacks and kills a man.

It's a juvenile. Probably just getting its bearings and range. You sure showed him the boundary. I get a ton of bears at my cabin. He definitely learned a hard lesson. Btw you don't want to see a 300 lb bear. That cub just got to wander on its own.

Was camping in eastern sierras last year and one came by 3x in one night. 1st time he was on our table checking for scraps. Scared off pretty easy. 2nd time camp next to us didnt secure their bear box correctly and he got it open and ice chest out. Hadnt got the ice chest open or he probably would have stayed a while. Was able to get him to run off. 3rd time, i hear the sound of my tailgate unlatching. Truck parked next to tent. I get out, cautiously, to see him walking away. I have a shell on truck which locks with rest of truck with key fob, or so i thought. While the doors and shell lock, tailgate doesnt. He actually got his paw to unlatch the tailgate but it wouldnt open because of shell. When i unlocked and opened shell, tailgate fell open. Paw prints on all the shell windows from him standing up to look inside. They are smart animals
