My oldest is turning 4 on the 21st and he’s been wanting a bike like daddy, so we went and got him one; The 2025 KTM SX-E2. He couldn’t touch the ground on a 50 so he’ll learn on this. He’s mastered the balance bike so this is the next logical step without wasting money on the STACYC.

No there is a 12 and a 16” model. They would normally be between a non powered balance bike and the SX-E2, but we skipped it.

This is a good review. This guy doesn’t live too far from me and his son is riding at the now defunct canyon motorcross track at 2 years old!

Look for a used stacyc. Bought one from a member here and a small electric dirtbike from Sam's club for 300. Nieces and Nephews started on the electric dirtbike then stacyc. Few rides and they were ready for a 50.

They can ride the stacyc around the neighborhood or in our Park at the river.

Kenny's Son can probably ride the KTM anywhere where he lives and no need for the stacyc.

Good call on the Ktm my son and daughter have training wheels on their dirt bikes because they’re to tall. I wish I would have went with a pw 50 for both instead of the crf. As far as the stacyc bikes my kids love them around the house my son rips on his and my daughter has started to take a liking and is getting good at it too.

My daughter was just 6 on her ktm electric.
The one you have looks more like the electric Honda which is a little smaller, that must be new. Hers was a mini race bike like the pro senior 50 . Both my kids had staycyc bikes, for anyone saying they are even close to each other, they are not. Suspension alone vs. none is a huge difference in the dirt.

Yeah we tried him on that 50 Electric and it was even taller than the regular 50 so he couldn’t touch the ground. He’ll move to that one next and then his brother will get the SX-E2 he’s on now.

These strider things are weird for me i know kids that scoot them around but cant even ride a bike! Guess im old. Isnt that how you learn to balance by creating your own momentum by pedaling?

thats my problem, i want my kid to learn to ride a bike (hes ok at it) then get him something with power. but all the kids have e bikes in one fashion or another. so he cant keep up

I went the cheap route, bought the razor scooter brand electric 350 for 200$ at Walmart to help the boy figure it out. He got on and blasted right away on it i was surprised. Got on a CRF50 about 6 weeks later and hasn’t looked back.

I went expensive because he’s got 2 brothers who will adopt it after he moves up to a 50. Right now he just can’t touch the ground on the 50 but I’m sure in a year or so he’ll be able to. We’re not done having kids so, God willing, if we have more brothers, or even a sister, they’ll keep the tradition going.

Yes that makes sense there with more to keep it around. Hell i ended up giving his away to a guy i know who had a 4 month old lol. Knowing he’d get it fired up for his guy.

I like them all and think they each have their place. My son started on the strider before he was even 2. We had the rocking pad for it just so he could get used to it. Took him a minute to get the hang of it once we took it off the rocker but once he figured it out he was solid. He started on the stacyc right when he turned 2 and never looked back. Rips that thing hard. We go to glen helen every now and then and do the races. He's finally starting to figure out the racing aspect and the gate drops. He was able to get a podium last weekend in the 12" class. I got him a PW last year for xmas. We had the training wheels on it and he rode it maybe once or twice. We didn't do much riding all summer but started getting back into it this month. I've been taking his PW to the track with us and hes now starting to cruise around on it. Still cant touch the ground though so I have to catch him if he wants to stop. Its all baby steps but these kids are going to be such good riders when they are older. I like the KTM electric bikes but I'm also going to start him in go karts soon so don't know if I want to drop the coin on another bike. The wife says no real dirtbike racing so I think go karts is going to be the route we start heading down very soon
