Best Stacker Trailer Builder?

Looking for some real world experience from you guys. Who do you think builds the best quality stacker trailer right now? Main thing is it has to be 102" wide inside the trailer which will knock a few builders off the list. Over the years we've had quite a few different trailers from various builders. I currently have a TPD and absolutely love it and the build quality is top notch. We are thinking about building a new stacker for my dad. He currently has a renegade stacker which is the best quality out there in my opinion. I have yet to see another manufacturer match it. I would say its nicer than my TPD. Now the only reason we aren't going to renegade to build a new one is because I don't believe they will build one 102" wide inside because that would make the overall width 106" ish. Universal had a new 106" wide stacker at the SSSS which was a nice trailer and a good price but we didn't love the finish of it. They missed the mark with a few things. We currently have an Ultra Hauler that we built for our river house last year and its alright but again not as high of quality as we are looking for. Anyone have any other builders that they recommend?

Progressive trailers in Phoenix will build to your specs within reason. I know of a few of them that are 102 inside that they built. Quality in my opinion is close to renegade and the options are endless. I believe they can do a 102 wide and it will be about 104.5 over all width with 1" thick walls

What the government don't know won't hurt them lol Alot of guys have them. The registration process is a little different but the trailer only gets used about 10 times per year. skip the banners and permit process and just roll the dice. We've only been pulled over 1 time and the cop actually brought out a tape measure because we were over length.

Pretty sure he is locked up. My dad has one of his trailers and they absolutely destroyed it when he took it in for some little issues. When the trailer was new it was solid as a rock and a gray trailer.

It’s actually pretty common in the sandrail world because some cars are 100” wide or more. My stacker is 106” wide.

I suppose if it's absolutely necessary, then go for it. Pretty big risk though. Get one CHP who feels like being a dick and that thing will get parked on the side of the road until you get a hauler big enough to put it on (and then probably have to pay for over-height permits with a special towing route) or buy wide-load permits and deal with any compliance needs involved with that.

I guess for some guys 4" makes all the difference though.

Not a stacker but this here is a 1991 TPD.

Few trailers will outlast their owners. I doubt I’ll be here in 30 years. There is no reason this 32 year old trailer won’t go another 32.
TPD will build ya anything ya want

The intec I had was hands down the nicest fit and finish I have seen. Don’t know if they do that wide but a damn nice trailer.

Universal is not as nice as renegade. But they will build to any spec you want. Dimensions are not an issue for them. If you want to add bling and bells n whistles just show them pics and say build it. Kevin is retiring soon, I’m sure he’d love to have a nice build to do before he bounces to Florida, Tom will be taking over.

If Jack Sprier still has his Brown it’s been for sale for last couple years. He‘s never listed it. As far as I know. But it’s a pretty dope trailer. Bagged axles to adjust ride height, cartridge awning. Front and rear lifts. Wide body 106” The list goes on….

Steel frame, I’d check out trailers unlimited… and then ultra / santek.

I have a pace American… we’ll built trailer, but I don’t think they do custom builds like all the others mentioned.

Yeah that was a good time. 2 different Renagades. The black one had a ramp door and interior 4 post lift. Could fit 3 cars. The gray one with the turbo on the lift, had a real hydraulic lift gate. Nicer, bigger, better, but still only hauled 3 cars. A couple of the old beater cars...

How do you get 102” inside when that is the max legal width of a trailer.


It’s not a Cali rule it’s a DOT rule. It requires an oversized permit for each state. A lot at risk and if you have a cdl and fly dirty like that you are gonna get loved special by the local state dot enforcement

Seems like all the chp guys look for is over length, I’ve never seen them measure width. I had Brown build me a 30’ that was 106” wide to fit my buckshot and chp never looked at width.

My TPD stacker is 27' plus 2' tongue. Steel frame and they don't use sheet metal for the sides, they use some other material but it is heavy. I'm easily close to 18k loaded. I would assume its probably around 10k empty

Got it. Yup thats heavy. LOL. We are going to be upgrading to a diesel pusher soon and once I do I am going to upgrade my trailer soon after.

They are heavy but behind a pusher its not bad. I've had stackers behind both a 330 and a 400hp. Yes the 400 is obviously better but the 330 did just fine. The biggest thing i would recommend to any buying a stacker is upgrading your hitch. Everytime I buy a motorhome I take the hitch off and give it to a buddy of mine who is a steel contractor. He builds me the exact same hitch using wayyyyyy thicker metal. My motorhome frame would probably break before my hitch does. We have had a few guys in our group snap their hitch driving home from glamis

10k isn’t as much as I thought. I had a 32 Haulmark race trailer (non stacker) and it was 8500lbs empty. It was a pig lol but nice as hell.

I worked at TPD from 92-95. I have a 24' and a 28' that I actually built while I worked there. Ive put 40k on the 24' easy in the 7 years I've had it and it's ready for a lot more.

same with mine. Wind gusts side to side suck. The heavier the trailer, the less it moves.
Headwinds suck as well, but trailer acts like a brake. If windy, I run a sway control setup as extra security with my 350DRW.

Intech trailers are for sure in the top 3 of quality enclosed trailers if not the #1, but I might be a little biased. Renegade and ATC make a similar quality trailer but I preferred the Intech for the total customization that was offered when ordering. I have a friend that just took delivery of an Intech stacker that was 102in wide on the inside. His Funco sand car can drive right in with out changing out his paddle tires for some skinny dirt tires like you have to do in a narrower stacker trailer. Intech did make him sign some sort of waiver in order to build it that wide.
