Getting ready to do tires and wheels on my ‘17 XP4 1000. Don’t want to reclutch, or stress out the belt / stock suspension components (more than they already are!)

We ride desert, not a lot of rocks but we do crawl up trails littered with small jagged stuff occasionally.

I’ve heard it’s best to stay with a 30” tire on the non-turbo cars, and have also heard that a tire with a rounded tread profile is easier on the car from a durability standpoint, compared to say a tensor with a flat, square profile.

Also - 14” vs 15”, and offset?

What say he? Have a few friends running motohammers, without issue. I was looking at motohammers, mongrels and tensor regulators mainly.

Just ran the Arizona Peace Trail last week with a group of 7 RZRs. Over 700 miles the four RZRs with the BFG Rzr tires and Tensor Regulators were the only ones that did not have a flat. All those cars were running 13 PSI and we weren't going slow.

The four with ITP, Maxxis Liberty, and even Toyo open country truck tires all flatted multiple times.

Think weight, if you'd like to avoid driveline and suspension stress.

The consensus is that the more rounded profile is a little easier on the car.

14s or 15s both work fine, i would personally do the lighter overall package.

Keep your offset closest to 0 as possible. Think scrub radius, driver feedback, and minimizing leverage on components such as wheel bearings.

ITP Ultra Cross. Murrays run them and just did the Baja 1000 (860 miles) on the same set of tires. They have done this on several occasions.

We have a group that is setting up a trip to do the whole APT in your opinion was it fun, would you do it again? Any tips would be appreciated.

This... I did the ITP Ultra-Cross on 14” Methods on my 18’ non-turbo. Least stress as possible and a great tire.

My buddy does the Baja Tour Packages. Basically Rosarito to Cabo all by dirt twice a month in RZR’s and this is what he recommended.

Tensor regulators.

4 cars, thousands of miles each and no flats. I attribute it to the tires.

Been running the 14”x31” Chicanes for the last 18 months with zero issues over approx 1500 miles. They are a DOT tire so the compound is a little harder, they still look like new and show no wear :D Just an FYI - I run the between 15#-18# psi to soften up the ride. With the 14” wheels it gives a little more cushion over 15”

Like mentioned by others I would watch total weight . Secondly good thing about a 15 inch rim it gives more clearance to the brake caliber in case a rock gets in the rim .

I’m getting ready to change out on the wheels on my Ranger..

Currently running the M28 Ambush in 14’s with 30” Mongrels.

I think I’m going to end up going with the M26 Vibe or the Diesel at the bottom.

Also going to try the new EFX tires but not sure which model is best for Havasu?

Ran the 30" Tensor Regulator's on a 14" rim for multiple years and they were great. Just switched to the 32" Tensor on 15". Running a non-turbo XP4 1000.

The 32" weigh about 4.5 lbs less per tire compared to the 30". Also, the car handles WAY better with the 32's over the 30's....night and day difference.

There are a lot of good tires on the market, but I would definitely go with the 32's right from the get-go. Also, what c-land stated about the tires has also been true in our group rides. Most everyone is either on Tensor's or BFG KR2's...

Did you lose any noticeable power loss with the 32’s? I want to jump up to a 32” tensor as well. (2016 rzr4 non turbo)

15" wheels with Arisun Aftershocks. I have been happy with them so far. Good ride, good traction and decent wear.
Don't do 0 offset, go with 5-2 offset with 7" wheels.

Not that I noticed at all. The car just handles way better and goes through the big stuff significantly faster. If anything, the car might feel faster because it's easier to drive

I ran the BFG’s for a year or two, they were without a doubt strong, durable and very reliable, however I will add they were heavy.

I have been running the Tensor regulator lately and can’t say anything negative about them. I run them on the street, dirt, rocks and washes in havasu and sometimes Parker. They have far exceeded my expectations!

Stick with 14x7s Try to go for a light wheel. Go with a 6+1 offset if you want the same width you have now. 5+2 still works well and will widen the car but don’t go for any more offset than that.

30 in is the dial in size for the non turbos.

I just put on Maxxis Liberty 30x10x14 on mine, they are awesome, ride well, are quiet, and are wearing great.

The STI HD9 is about the same weight as a Method beadlock, and just over half the price.

STI Chicane and ITP Ultra Cross are both supposed to be very good as well.

How are those Liberty (ies)? in the sand?
That's what I was leaning towards until I was able to get five Racelines and Aftershocks for $1k.
