When we were first married we lived in Belmont Shore. Our duplex was on Ocean Blvd near the basketball courts. Nearby was an infamous Corner, very well known in the area. Well, per Google Maps, the name is now official - Horny Corner.

Great memories from that area. My wife (then girlfriend) and I lived on BayShore in the last duplex before the marine stadium. I could not count the number of nights we putted the dingy around Naples etc with a cooler.

At that time my boat was slipped behind Rusty Pelican & Scooner or Later.

Loved it -

We lived at 5391 Ocean. Here’s a recent photo of the front. The place looked exactly the same when we lived there nearly 50 years ago. We had the entire ground floor and dedicated parking.

Step daughter lives there, we throw boat in at Marine stadium swing by and pick her up on beach, pizza in hand and cruise around. Place is super busy on weekends and 10 minute drive time versus 10 hours to and from river.

Family had a house at Ravenna and 2nd. It was a good spot for Halloween going into the canals but other than that… parking sucked.

Pretty cool area with a lot of great memories for me as well. I’m not sure if I posted this before or not, but the park at the end of Marine Stadium was named after my dad about 2 years ago.

That’s outstanding. A remarkable and very fitting tribute to your Dad. Recall photos of his beautiful trawler/cruiser in the Marina.

Play hard and ski hard. Inside the breakwater or in Marine Stadium. Then dinner at Noel’s. If we were fat on $$, maybe even the Chart House in the Marina. Salad was made at your table. But, Noel’s was THE place to go. Hell, we’d been getting served there since we were teenagers. And their food was outstanding and cheaper than the other locals.

Spent lots of time at the pool down there. Big year round swimming events, as well as CIF stuff. Big time for me to get to go...wife won Div 1 a time or two when she was my high-school sweetheart....that's also where I proposed about 25 years ago:oops:

Hamburger Henry’s, No Name Omelette and that great little Chinese place on 2nd St. Our front yard was the ocean and our backyard was the bay. The night of my bachelor party we ended up trying to drive golf balls from the Ocean Blvd grassy median in front of our place, out into the ocean. Not likely. But, we were more than willing to try. Lol

Aunt lived at the corner of Bayshore and 2nd and had bbq's every Wednesday with all of the neighbors on the bay. Worked at Bobby McGees in college and knew all of the bartenders on 2nd street. What a great way to grow up..

Lived in Seal Beach half a block from the pier from 1980-84. 2nd Street was our hangout for most part. A lot of fond memories there...

Anyone know if you can bring motorhome into Marine stadium parking lot for day use? Can't find anything on it.

Dated a girl in Belmont Shores in the 90's. She and her room mate's danced at Captain Creams in Lake Forest. I used to pick them up at 2am in my 1991 regular cab chevy truck and had nothing but boobs across the bench seat. We would go to Dennys in Irvine after then back to their Apartment and spent many nights sleeping on the couch and enjoying the view of them walking around in the am in their undies. The good old days!!!

I have pics somewhere of that madness, I need to go dig them up!!!

Brings back memories when stationed in the ship yards in early 1980's. Lots of partying at Cherry Beach & Belmont.

My brother-in-law lived down there and had a house off of Corona Street. We used to go down there all the time during the summer time and enjoy the beach and go bar hopping, lots of cool bars and restaurants.
It was also super cool to go down there during Christmas time to see the parade of lights

Saw this recent photo of the beach at Horny Corner. Hard to imagine it ever being that crowded. It wasn't. But, there were also no EZ Ups back then. Rarely saw beach umbrellas. Not the cool thing to do, unless you had little ones.

You know jason Beebe?

I know Jason, just saw him the other day at Joe's. Our daughters swam together at Wilson and either his dad or uncle was our kids pediatrician when they were little.
Ironically his long time girl friends ex bought one of my parents lots in Marina View and he also bought Roger Weiman's old shop in Bellflower.

Crazy how much skiing we'd do back in the day, stadium, hot water channel and the L.A. River. Lotta fun.
Hot water channel was the best place to ski in the winter. First time I went was with CJ Baker and my brother. Good times!

Domenico's special, the best pizza on earth!!!!!
Agreed. They have on down in Mission Viejo now on the lake. Same great food and AMAZING service. There was an unusually long delay on one of our entrees and the owner came over and apologized then tried to comp us some free desserts. We had a nice chat about our 4 generation history going to Domenico's. Great food, great owners.

The Tea Garden, they didn't serve alcohol so we would buy beer at the corner liquor store and bring it in to enjoy with our Chinese food.

been meaning to try Dominico's. i was really bummed when Peppino's closed, good food, good people there. we had my rehearsal dinner for my wedding 6 years ago. went there a couple years ago when my daughter was 2, the waiter and the manager both got a little tweaked at me because i was under the table cleaning up everything she dropped before we left. they both said its our job, not yours. we appreciate the thought and effort but stop. my understanding is that they kept the manager from Peppino's.

Grew up on it in Hawaiian Gardens. (Husband's location after divorce) My mom and dad's first date was there. They ultimately sold that location and it failed, I was bummed. I thought I had found one in Pasadena, but it was different. I went 7 years without it until my brother found the Belmont shore location.

I could eat cold Domenico's pizza every day if I had too. The dressing's pretty damn good also!!!!

Extra onions and garlic!!!!

Mom lived on First street between Molino and Temple from 83’ to 90’ and would go down there for the summer and the Bayshore summer camp. Had a blast riding all over from Belmont Shore to Shoreline Village. Enjoyed going to the LB Gran Prix.

… Something just dawned on me… Had a girlfriend that lived close by there… There evolved a story that started there… The story I used to tell but made people know that it was highley exagersted…The story was about a 65 mile long BJ I got from my girlfriend… it was probably closer to a 5 mile deal… from there to my boat in the LA harbor…
… I had no idea that that corner was famous???
… Told that story to Roseanne Barr… she said wow who did that for you???..,
… Was about a week into Tom Arnold, stealing her away from her first husband… May have given her ideas???…
