So We Keep extra food , canned goods etc in the garage in a cabinet, while rearranging discovered this 2011 dated , unopened , untapped Coors light party ball (still in its original box) , looks clear (not cloudy) no leaks, suspect the little CO2 charger is still good , chilled it today , consume or not ?? party ball.jpg

Hmmmm. I was told (during the tour in Golden) Coors Light should never get warm. And not sure if it would last 5 years.

But since you chilled it, give it a try and report back :thumbsup

America's Test Kitchen did a study regarding "skunking" and found that repeated warming and chilling did nothing to the taste. Light had the biggest effect.

I used to be really ambitious and make homebrew Beer (various types) , bottled it in amber and blue Grolsh type flip caps and then in cardboard cases, I must still have a couple dozen cases in the garage , unfortunately however I always preferred cheap store bought so the homebrew was more for the "experience and entertainment" , that said I've read extensively on the net about how it (beer) unlike wine supposedly gets nasty and skunky, that said because I hate to toss it (or anything else out) occasionally I chill one and even after seven years or so it still drinks pretty well , will see if the Party Ball has survived as well ...

Coors light does not taste the same once its been warmed up for say 3-4 days of warm days after being cold.Pull a couple out of the cooler when you get to river leave in truck or wherever end of weekend go home, drop them into a cooler put 5 new cold ones in there too mix them up you will know what ones were left behind.

I know bud lights arent as sensitive but whatever the beer is i will buy warm 36 packs for a trip and chill as needed vs buying all colds then letting some get warm.

I can tell you that beers that go to the river, get iced, and return home hot and put back in the fridge after a 600 mile round trip taste like ass! I drink them anyways - those are the "after midnight" stash

Those I save for friends who need an extra beer. That's if I let them get warm though.

It doesn't go bad, it will just taste very stale. I went over to a buddies house one time and grabbed a beer from his garage fridge. Didn't look at the date on it and it was 4 years old. Took one sip and knew something wasn't right. Ended up pouring it out.

Only certain beers are brewed to be aged and many of the beers sold at the grocery store are really only good for about a year at most.
