Went to the Irvine Lake Hotboat regatta this past weekend and confirmed what I have known for many years, I want a v-drive flat bottom project. I have found several that I need to look at this weekend, all dont have engines, otherwise they are complete. Trying to get an idea on my budget for this for a big block chevy engine. Anybody know of anything sitting in someones garage corner collecting dust? My preference would be something not to extreme so I can get out and get alot of seat time before taking it up a notch to higher hp or blower motor.

LOL, yeah I keep going back and forth. For close to 30 years I have wanted a Daytona 19 jet, but vdrive flatbottoms are gaining fast on my list. So much more efficient of a design for mph per hp then a jet.

You should buy the all white 66' Schaida for sale on here. It's all redone and just needs a motor and motor mounts. Have Barry build you something out of that 600hp potential short block he has and run the shit out of it!! The you'll have a flat, a Schiada, and an Obnoxious motor. You'd be a RDP all-star!!!

Have you ridden/driven in a true flat and a runner bottom?...night and day difference. I have both the flat is fun but not real efficient or safe after 80MPH imho, although it is a Hell of a lot of fun...Think big block, 4-speed and bias ply tires.

Hopefully just offering some decent input.:hmm

Either one is a bucket load of fun, good luck.

Don't categorize all true flats together because they can vary greatly. ;)

Terrible terrible advice. Let me tell you why. I've fallen in love with that boat and been hoping it's still up for sale after my union contract negotiation the beginning of next year. So like I said terrible suggestion. Haha!

Sorry, I am all over the place on this, and my meds dont really help. Rented a toon a few weeks back because we had a shit ton of house guests for the weekend and we really enjoyed it, so wife is big on the toon thing now, for having more room and something she can take out. So if we go that route that will be two boats, and my 80's revival boat will be on hold. Gonna check out a bunch at the LA boat show, and decide on the game plan for 2012 season then.

Then driving to Pomona to the Grand National Roadster Show for the week-end.
Then driving back to Phoenix the 30th or 31st.

So if You stumble across a good 70's Biesemeyer that You pass on I would be interested.

Thxs.
Sincerely Appreciated.
