What's the deal with Bayon boats, were they a splash of another boat or were they there own design? Never even heard of them before I ran across this add today.

Probably a typo. It looks like a a Spectra splash, so maybe a Baron?

Its definitely possible, l searched the net a bit and found the name attached to a video of a flat bottom and a thread about a outboard boat with the same name on PB could be typo's though for sure. I don't know much about these old boats. Looks like it could be a fun river boat for the price though :thumbsup

Bayon's were built up around Redding in the 70's the boat in the pic looks like a splash of a Cambell

We had a 21- daycruiser in the late 70's 455 olds jacuzzi jet, fun boat, gas hog. Not the best of quality, similar to Tahiti, Hawaian?, Shuster... I thought they were made around Fresno somewhere in central Cali...

Hello River Dave's Place.
I am new to the forum but have first hand intimate knowledge about Bayon Boats.
To late tonight to go into detail but if folks are interested I can share more at a later time.
BASICS:
Bill Bayon started the company in So CA and moved to Redding CA around 1969 or 70.
He built wood boats in So CA and fiberglass boats of his own design in Redding.
I am sure he was friends with Billy Campbell and actually built at least 1 wood hull for him in 1964. There is a reference to this boat on the web.
Bayon Boats were built in Redding Ca from the early 70's until 1989 when the molds and inventory were sold to Marlin Boats of White City OR .
Bayon Custom Boats built !6'6" low profile outboard and IO models and some jets. A 19' Bubble deck mostly jet powered. A 20'2' Mini daycruiser with IO, Jet and some outboard models. The boats were all hand laid fiberglass built to order.
Bayon Boats also designed and built a 20'2" Bass boat for Outboard or IO power.
Bayon Boats also designed a 20'2" V nose tunnel bottom for the Bass Boat and Mini Daycruiser decks.
I will ad more later if interest is there.
Thanks,
Bill,
P.S. I owned and operated the Company from late 1981 until we sold out to Marlin Boats in 1989.

These are pictures of the last Bayon ever built. It was a 20'2" Mini daycruiser with the tunnel bottom we designed and had the King Cobra BB Ford Sterndrive. It was for sale in Washington a couple of yeras ago and I tried to buy it but my offer was not accepted.
I lost all the picture albums I had from the 80's and have no digital pics except these. You could go to Craigslist Redding and type Bayon in the search box and some forsale will come up.

New to the forum, just purchased this 77 Bayon 20.5 mini day cruiser. This post is the most information I have been able to find in regards to Bayon boats. 396 BBC, Berkley pump, Lounge seating unlike anything else I've seen. Pump is anodized black & Jefferson Starship cover air brushed on the bow.

With that being said, @COCA COLA COWBOY sounds like he knows a guy in Nor Cal that might have all the info you seek.

Good luck with the new boat!!

This is the boat I got pictures of the other day parked at Daves shop! Does it run? We're gonna be doing jet boat things this week in the river, you should join. Probably launch at Wallace and head towards Independence.

That seating layout is pretty cool!

Kind of funny how the interior style of the 70’s has come full circle and diamonds are back in style!

I work for Dave. My name is Bryan Leach. I work along side Henry running the front/boat side. Boat runs good. It hasn't seen the water in 10+ years per the previous owner. We started it last week, has a cam etc in it. I started replacing the fuel lines (brittle) Friday after work and installing a fuel/water sep.

Perfect. Tell Dave that you need Wednesday afternoon off. Get that thing ready by then, and we'll go run the river. Hell, bring Dave with you. Better yet, tell him to go get the Miller and bring it back to town. Same with Henry, tell him to get his ready too. Warm days are running thin around here!

My name is John Green. Not sure we've met, but we will. Dave will know the name. Justwannarace is also from Salem. I'm near certain hes gay, but his wife is hot, and they have a nice river boat, so we keep him around.

I remember driving by the shop on Twin View Blvd in Redding just off I-5 back in the 70's. Couple of our friends growing up had Bayon Day Cruisers. Now the building is a boat storage.

I just found this forum today by looking up Bayon Boats. I just purchased a really nice little 1978 --16.6 with the 115 Tower of Power and looking for other "Tower" owners in the NorthWest. I'm in Roseburg Oregon.

I don't know how to navigate a "forum" yet. I tried a reply but was only allowed 420 characters so had to shorten it a lot.........but I don't know where it went. I have friends in Redding, I'll drag the boat down there sometime and look up the old shop it was built in. It was ordered from the Portland Boat show in 1978 and has been well taken care of.......still looks new. I'm hoping to meet other tall Merc. owners and meet up in the N.W.
In the past I've had a 22ft Lavey Craft V-drive, a 20ft. Phantom Pump and various other I/O's and outboards not worth mentioning. Bluewater for one totally Sucked except the Mercruiser I/O. Good Forum.

Have you ever heard of Columbia Boat Builders? I have a 74 jet with 455 oldsmobile. It looks identical to a 70ish Bayon with the cutout hatch behind the motor compartment. Thanks for you knowledge.

Post more pics of your boat. This is the thread you want to be in. I am assuming you are in the PNW somewhere?

I own one of those boats and I don't know what to do with it. it is a 1981 Bayon day cruiser. A guy in my small town was going to take it to a landfill to be demolished. I could not let him do it. I felt it had a history and so I took it home. It is not in prime condition and could use new seats but the guy said it still ran. My husband had the motor going but we are not boat people. Someone who wanted to fix up this vintage baby could have a nice boat. Do you have any suggestions as to where I could sell it to someone who would love her. I'm not sure what it is worth but Id make someone a killer deal just to see it live on. I know your post is 10 years old but this is a long shot that maybe you will see it and share advice.
Thanks,

Where do you live?

Man, lots of history here. This was started before the fires torched the valley here in OR. Several of the boats talked about here burned up. My river place burned up in that same fire!

Regardless, @JUSTWANNARACE is still a homo!

Thanks,
