Hi all,
I spent many a summer during the 80's at Bass Lake. Loved it up there. Just bought my own boat this past summer and want to take a trip back up there this coming summer 2016. I've been on the local webcams and half the lake appears to be dried up! All the docks at Pines Marina are dry. And it was August that I was looking at the webcams.

I've done some reading online, and some say drought and some say the water was purposely kept low due to extensive work on the dam. And now that the work is done, it's supposedly going to back to its former glory this summer. But man, it sure looked low in August.

Thought maybe some of you here might know more about the situation up there. Thanks!

100+ views and no comments. I guess I'm the only here that likes Bass Lake? 😉

Its always drawn down late in the Summer but was lower than normal due to the drought.

If the winter continues to be wet, it should at least be higher than the last two summers if not full by early summer.

Some info on the water level:

"The Lake was held to a lower level for construction the Dam from 2009 - 2012"

http://www.basslakeca.com/lake.html

It is an interesting read. They have target water levels throughout the year.

Been going to Bass Lake and surrounding lakes for many years. My brother got married on the Bass Lake Queen back in 2013, the lake level was down from the dam work, docks on the northern tip of the lake were dry but the lake was still usable. As far as I know the dam work is complete, but there has not been enough water to refill the lake. You can call the Ranger Station at the lake to get an accurate lake level, I called them last year to get the level of another lake up there before we drug the boats and RV's up there for a week, they were very helpful. The picture in my sig. is Bass Lake 2013

Never been that far up, but close. We were up that way for a week last summer, I towed our 38' 5th wheel and my wife towed our boat 10 miles down a steep, winding road to the lake we go to. If you are familiar with the area, you probably know the lake.

I can neither confirm nor deny :D been going for close to 20 yrs. This last trip was the first with my 5th wheel, it was a little nerve wracking to say the least, then add the fact that my wife was towing the boat, :eek . normally we stay at a friends house in the town of north fork, or his cabin in Bass Lake, but the 1hr+ drive down to the lake and back every day gets old real quick. Cant beat staying at the lake.

I found this same graph a month or so ago. Problem is, 2014 and 2015 look real bad. And I think the dam work has been done for a couple years now. I'll probably call the ranger station and ask. I sure hope it fills back up.
