Cut the wrap and shoot some pics of the Mandella and post them already! What year? 1965? Love the moon caps, does it also have a wood light bar on the back of the trailer?

I didn't fish around for labels, I recognize the shape having grown up around the Mandella shop.

Because I'm often browsing RDP with my kids around, I have my settings so that all pictures and etc show up as links. I have to click on the link (which said mandella_OG) to see the pic. So...I was already thinking it was a mandella before seeing the pic. I wish I could find my old mandella, I'd love to buy it back.

If you have the CF numbers there is a certain someone on here that can help you find it.

Sorry about the wait...no pics at home...

A little back story, this is a 1969 Mandella long deck Lou Brummett built it for a friend of his and after he was killed the oroginal owner couldn't bring himself to drive it and sold it. Well it ended up in North Carolina and this guy drove it a couple of times and parked it. It is 100% original down to the tires and had a 427 highrise Ford. It has 4 oroginal hours on it.

So my old man bouth this trailer and drove back to NC to pick up the boat. In the 2nd pic you can see a little idea he had to 1 get teh boat on the trailer with a removable winch and 2 hook the boat so it would be secure for the tow home.

Plans are to just put a good cleaning on it, go through the motor and leave her be.

This boat is almost identical to a 18" long deck he had in the early 70s that he crashed...those of you who have been to the Parker house have seen a pic on the wall.

As you know, there were more than one "Rawhide", but the one being restored has some special history.

Why does the boat your dad just bought have the number 99 on it? Respect to Lou?

Could have been a deal where the owner called Carson or something. Lynch family has long standing ties with Carson Brummett, and Carson would want the boat to go to a good home. Just a wild guess, haven't talked to John about it yet.

Yes I know on both accounts. It has had 99 on it since day 1 so I assume thats why. I know it was a really good friend of Lou's that Lou built the boat for.

Lynch thanks for showing us this. You and your Dad are saving history, and when I finished reading what you guys are going to do with it a smile lit my face up.
Boats, hot rods, all the stuff we love...built by the hero's of the past, or even just the hero next door... are special, and only a few of them are left that are unmolested from the original plan.. They tell us a story of a simpler time, and simpler machines. A time when the craftsmen who's shoulders we all stand on laid the foundation for the culture of speed in this country.
Thanks for sharing, and please keep us if to speed.
And tell your Father I said thanks.
