Balloon Festival

Debating going out next weekend for the Balloon Festival. Is it worth the drive to check it out? Last few times I attempted to go the wind was blowing so it was a waste of a drive. How many balloons usually are involved? What time do they start?

Here is the schedule. They moved it up a week earlier. Looks like Friday-Sat winds 5-10. https://havasuballoonfestival.com/schedule-of-events/. You can watch from the channel around 8ish if you do not want to go to the event. Or fun to follow them around town. Looks like 57 are signed up.

its only worth it if there is no wind..... we too have gone out several times times to only wake up to wind the morning of......

They did fly last year. I was up there flying one of my weight shift trikes all around them I got a bunch of video of it all.

I have enjoyed it each year we are in town. But it does suck the years with too much wind. Last year we went to the bridge and watched. There were two touch downs to water.

Took my mom last year. It was cold but pretty awesom. One of the balloons did a touch down the flew directly over us. We had my daughter’s old jet boat out. We are going again this year in one of my boats with mom again. Should be better for her. Mom is going to be 89 Jan. 14th

We went last year and spent 4-days in the motorhome, had a great time. We did the early morning canal deal and the big burn Sat. night was cool. Mother in law is coming for a visit this year and no room for 3, in the RV, so we're going on Friday to see as much as we can.

For those of you guys that have taken your boats during the festival I have to ask if it's worth putting the boat in the water or not.

I have done it in the past. Made homemade breakfast burritos, mimosas for the girls and bloody's for the guys. Good times if the wind isn't blowing and they're in the air. You won't know until early in the morning.

It's a fun, low key weekend.

Towing back balloons that have floated over the water is a great time. They drop lines in the hope you will grab it and tow them back to shore where someone can grab the line.

Is it worth buying a ticket to the event or just head to the bridge or Bison Road to watch?

I have seen pictures of the night glow and it looks cool but is it worth the hassle?

The wife went last year with friends. She said that she enjoyed the light up at night. I’d be willing to give it a try one of these years.
