They aren't coming after ME, they are going after the companies that produce the tuners. Even if they got rid of all the companies making tuners, that isn't going to stop trucks from being deleted and tuned.

The government would need cause and a subpoena to get a list of customers from the manufacture.
Since most of these devices were not sold direct (sold through retailers), that is not going to occur.
Oh , you think that’s gonna be a problem for the EPA ?

I deleted mine when we moved to Alabama, $3000. Picked up about 3 mpg, but honestly i won’t do it on my new truck. It was so loud, had a bit of reaonnance in the cab at certain speeds, etc. $3000 for 3 mph I dont think pencil out over time, when diesel is right around $4. My new dually is whisper quiet and gets 19 mpg on the highway, and pulls like a freight train, I’m good with that.

Yes. Going after the manufacture is one thing. EPA starts going after citizens without knowing if they used a product a certain has some huge legality impacts.
It's the government they lie and mandate where have you been lol 😆

Seems that only started when O got elected. Before that, I had more faith the government agencies actually did good. Now, I can’t name one that goes good (no matter who is in power).

You are forgetting the high idle and 9th injector in re-gen pumping fuel and the cow piss. $3000 is a bargain

They will probably send out threatening letter's and some people will be dumb enough to play along and bust themselves

I did. He gave a cryptic example of the “government” getting a list of some unknown customers of some unknown company and nothing else. The feds will not crack down on individuals and no EPA people do not carry guns. They EPA will require states with non attainment areas to curb this. In most (but not all) parts of California and even some parts of Arizona, Texas Nevada and Alaska to name a few, that crackdown is done through Smog Check Programs. As I’ve stated many times in the past, Roadside Inspections are voluntary and not one citation or correction notice had ever been issued as a result of the program. They gather raw data in numbers and report that data to the EPA as part of their State Implementation plan (SIP). Done only to measure the effectiveness of the programs. Nearly all states with smog check programs do this. Bottom line is that the EPA has bigger fish to fry than your deleted truck. These violations are enumerated in state law and are handled as such.

Let’s not forget that another alphabet agency - ATF - is going door to door to confiscate binary triggers, which was once a legal product.

I wonder if Calif will begin requiring smog checks when a title is transferred to a new owner? That'd throw a wrench in selling a deleted pickup!

Don’t you just buy diesel at truck stops? They usually have DEF pumps, makes it easier to deal with.
Unfortunately we don’t have very many options in LA city/county area.

I get it every now and then at the pump but I usually buy the boxes 6 at a time and throw half in the shop so I can refill relatively easily

title transfer smog tests have been required for as long as I can remember.
So what are people doing. If all the Def stuff and exhaust sensors, and the EGR valve are all gone, it'd take thousands to reinstall, then returned to recognize the devices. Are the buyers spending the thousands, or returning the pickups to the sellers ?

Nobody actually does that. Seller gets an illegal smog, sells the truck, and then the buyer finds a guy to do illegal smogs and keeps his mouth shut.

I didn't like how well it drove with no check engine light....( cool now what do you do when it's time to get it smogged...... fuck the epa... and their clean air... So it's a victimless crime right? Wrong. I had a complaint on a Dodge dealer who sold a diesel truck five years prior. Diesel smogs started up and this truck needed a $2200.00 cat. They owners called the dealer they bought the truck from and were told to pound sand. They had moved 400 miles away. I got the complaint, ran the plate and found the prior owner who had traded it in. He gave me a statement saying that he removed the Cat when he bought the truck new and traded it in that way. I went to the dealer and spoke with the service manager (whom I had a good working relationship with). He told me that those people can fuck off, it had been five years. I laid the written statement on him. He was a little pissed. He asked me why I had to go all CSI on him. I told him it was because I knew he would tell me to tell the customers to fuck off. I then told him to pull the jacket and check and see if they put a Cat on in the used car recon. Two days later he called me and said they did. I said "No Shit"!!!. Then he said no I'm just fucking with you, what do we need to do? I told him to order a cat at their cost and ship it with $100.00 (for install labor) to them. It's better than paying the $2200.00 to someone else. This happens all the time. I've literally investigated hundreds of situations like this. Got lucky like this on a lot of them but some people (who couldn't afford it) just had to eat it.

Why didn't you ding the dealer for failing to perform a smog for the change of ownership?

I never said it was a victimless crime. All my shit is bone stock and it'll stay that way. I like my life easy. Pulling cats off of modern vehicles doesn't make any sense to me, especially considering the stock power numbers that manufacturers are turning out. I typically support the smog program.

That being said, there are a lot of instances where I think CARB should fuck right off. This diesel thing is not one of them though.

The problem with CARB is nobody oversees CARB. Years ago when CARB started diesel regulations the person that was writing the regulations had no background or experience with diesel motors. CARB was called out on this and even admitted the person was not qualified but his recommendations and requirements still passed the CARB board.

No diesel smog requirement at that time. Still illegal for them to sell it like that. Believe me there are more instances than you even know where CARB should fuck right on off. About ten years ago they tried to take the program out of the hands of BAR. I was on the committee that formulated a game plan to stop it. Had they gotten the program it would have been an absolute disaster.

When they put 10k plus worth of emission equipment on a diesel and cut the mileage in half, That was the first sign they don't really give a shit about emissions. You cant tell me burning less fuel (better mileage) is better than burning more fuel. The fucktards at Carb are trying to clean the worlds air through the pocket books of US citizens. When I see freighters with cats and urea tanks then I might believe their cause.

Exactly, I've browsed PDS forums and guy's with 6.4l that did a full delete were seeing 23-26mpg, saw one guy that pulled the fuel down to the point that his truck didn't roll coal (that's just unburned fuel) and was seeing 28mpg. Huge improvement over 8mpg and 98% of the 6.4 issues went away.

Looks like NJ doesn't like deleted trucks either.

Talk about government overreach, I think I’d have to stick to the line “they’ll get my truck when they pry it from my cold dead hands”.

To clarify, I’m not a big fan of the guys going around rolling coal on people whether it be a pick up truck or a semi truck it’s just a waste of fuel, but to tell me I can’t make modifications for better performance is a bunch of bullshit, I guess that’s why I just drive old shit.😡
