Some are crazy expensive when I priced them . Turns out trex is middle of the row price and quality wise . The cheap stuff sucks . Park would not approve my deck so I never purchased any brand

I built a Timbertech deck last year for a customer. It was expensive. Lots of defects in the material. Quality control was off. But they sent me all new material and I was to trash the old. Few months of headaches.

Hey Dave, I did TREX on my decks in Havasu. Its been there about a year and I have not had any issues. Yes it is hot during the summer but so it the paver driveway, the asphalt street, the concrete areas and the outside air temp. Its not hotter than anything else and cools down just the same. No warpage or discoloration yet after one year. One deck is in the direct sun all day and one is partial shade and partial sun and they look the same.

We have Timbertech on our Gazebo deck and will probably put it on our big house deck later this year. No issue that was not installation-related (learning). The stuff sure is nice to clean and never have to paint.

Just keep in mind you can’t ever paint the composite TREX stuff. It traps all the moisture in and breaks apart like particle board if it gets wet when painted. There were entire tracts of homes that had decks coming apart around 2010-12 because they bought one color and painted them depending on the house.

I have a front deck made with gen1 Trex and it sucks bad.

It’s been a while, but a friend had his original Trex gen1 deck go to crap and Trex supplied all new decking free of charge. Warranty for material only not labor. Maybe worth a phone call to Trex???

Hasnt technically failed at least from what Ive pulled apart so far - just look like ass.

It was based on how it looked not structural integrity. Faded to a different color if I remember correctly? Worth a call. All they can say is Yes, or No!

I did Trex at my prior house. Held up great. Did a Trex specific re-coat after 10 years as was good as can be. SoCal west facing. Only pic I could find on my phone.

thats " kind" of how mine looks id say mine weathered a bit less elegantly.
