I bought an Arizona car and am trying to get it registered in my name in AZ. So I signed up for the new "MVD Now" and tried to do it on line, and it didn't work. So I try to set up an appointment and I guess you have to call in to do that. So I called in and the computer said "There are 300 people ahead of you". I m not waiting on phone that long. Next I call an authorized third party place in BHC and they are not open to the public. I have insurance on the car and the current registration is good till April, at least according to tags. What is the next step?

300 ahead of u is about a 30 minute wait. Was like 301 caller twice now! They will walk you through process.

Call Action auto title in Scottsdale, she does a lot of work for dealers and might be able to get you done via mail.

I have felt with the process several times, vehicle transfer, vehicle registration and AZ ID. Here is the low down on the inside track.

If you are out of state of AZ you can’t do it on line. Don’t bother even trying.
Call and make an appointment

When you call the number call 7:58 and continue until you get on hold. There will be less people in front of you.

Ask about any other locations that you are willing to travel to. I was able to get an appointment within a week by going to Parker from Kingman.

Make an appointment for the morning. They are on time first part of the day and go off schedule through out the day. Up to an hour or more. Once it was 2 hours late.

When you go into the location, if they don’t greet you at the door they will periodically call names and give you a number.

Once you have the AZ ID that will open the possibility doing transactions on line. Good luck!!!!

Call the number and then dial 758? I need to call in. Just switched license and truck reg to AZ but they would not except my bank info that holds my loan. Needed to upload correct document and now call in to get pen plates issued. They issues 90 day temp. Very easy process overall

Those of you that have an AZ ID card, did it cancel your drivers license in the state that you live in?

No, call the number that I posted. I called 2 minutes before 8 and just kept hitting redial when I got the message that they were not opened yet. I wanted to be one of the first that went into the system, that is why I did it two minutes before. I did not ever have to wait longer than 10minutes doing it. Just picking up the phone to dial in the middle of the day it could take time just to have them dump you. This allows you to get in line before the rest of the population does it too. I’d have to dial 15-20 times until it hit 8am and then on to the hold for 10 minutes until someone answers.
Inform them you are out of state can’t do the on-line and need an appointment. Then search the areas that you are willing to travel to and which one has the morning appointment available.

It is just an ID card. Not a driver’s license. I have not received mine yet but it shouldn’t make your DL invalid. I sure hope not. LOL I will let you know in a few weeks.

I called the AZ MVD today to schedule an appointment to get an id card only. The lady on the phone said it would automatically cancel my driver's license in my home state. She said it's an automatic computer generated deal. Has anybody that has an AZ ID card had this happen to them?

Got it. That makes sense. The MVD girl said rest can be done over phone after I download document. Real ID license and temp registration done already. I did mine in Parker and they ran about a hour behind for anyone looking to book. Overall good experience

I just got off the phone with them. The 300 callers ahead of me took about a half hour. They didn’t have any appointments that lined up with my schedule in the next few weeks so I tried for late September but he said they can’t book that far in advance. No mention of the ID card canceling my drivers license…

I am gonna call again and see if someone else tells me the same story. I read online last night because of the new travel real id's that you cannot have a legal ID or driver's license in two different states. Don't know how true that is.

I finally did it. I followed HNL2LHC directions called exactly 8am sat on hold for 10 minutes and downloaded all documents, printed new paper license plate and finished everything by 8:30. Very easy. You need to have an AZnow account before you call.

ID card is completely different than a DL, so it won’t cancel your DL from another state.
Mine is still good.
You will need all the paperwork so plan ahead, my wife needed a copy of our marriage cert (ownership papers) to connect to my last name

Just walk into the mvd you dont need an appointment.

I have an appointment today, all i did was go on mvdnow and chose a location and time

Things are screwed up there since the new mvdnow thing started. I need one account for me and a separate one for my trust and the web services dont work the same between the accounts. Sold notices on the trust account have to be done on the phone. wtf

I bought 2 dirt bikes. Later I got a paper title in the mail for one and nothing for the other. The guy says, well I dont think you should have gotten the paper title for the first one. I asked so am I getting an etitle for the second dirt bike or are you sending a paper tilte…..uh Im not sure. Im going down today to get it settled and reg a new trailer-should be a slice of heaven

I'm pretty sure that unless both parties are present (Buyer & Seller) at the AZDOT, that the seller must have the back of the title notarized with his/her signature before you take it in to do a title transfer.
