Haven’t heard of it. Is that the correct spelling? Or do you want me to edit the thread title?

Pretty sure those are the cousin to the airstream...right? I’ve seen a few older ones and they’re solid compared to the rubber roof OSB garbage everyone sells today.

2FF, the price of a new Airstream is nuts. If I was going to buy one, this would be the ticket, fraction of the cost of new. $22k cdn, sounds too good to be true. They're taking cryptocurrencyo_Oo_O

The Airstream will hold its value far longer than the "New" potato chip trailers we see manufactured now. At least that is my opinion.

:D
I bet percentage wise it won't. Airstreams are beyond stupid expensive for their size and features.

The lack of slideouts kills the Airstream. They are cool, as long as you're looking at photos of a freshly polished example. Owning own, probably not so much.

Airstreams won't rot, they don't leak and the phylon (sp?) won't delaminate. Keeping one show quality polished is a pain, but everyday bare aluminum isn't difficult to take care of.

Lack of a slide is made up for by the above features. They also tend to be lighter than conventional TT's.

For two people they would be ideal, and have a loyal following.

Well, here's the deal....gonna do a hard money loan....it's to my brother....as history plays,... it's more like a borrow of no return....he has a balloon payment on his house in Oregon,... what happened is,... he's going through a pretty rough divorce.....at first, his wife wanted the house....and she had the money to pay the balloon....as time went... neither had it....house doesn't have enough equity to sell with a realtor, and is in need of a remodel....I don't know why,.... guess cause it's my little bro.... but feel the need to give a hand up..I don't want his trailer... but feel he needs to pay me back..... LOL.... like that's gonna happen.... so he say's....you can hold my trailer till I pay you back...I have no need or want for the trailer... and don't wanna store it at my house....he thinks it worth over 12k....guess there's a little cult like following for these...and ralleys where they get together...any way, his divorce is none contested,..and she is giving him the house...but she is dragging her feet on signing the papers... was supposed to be yesterday ,..she moved out a month ago and went to cal...the payment was due on the 30th,... with no late terms,... pretty sure that dodd frank doesn't allow it but, the note holder is saying the whole note is due now....balloon payments can't be with in the first 5 yrs.....of coarse, you can put it in the note.... but you can't enforce it....any way.... he has one ballon payment left.... then only 680 a month to end of term.. there's a real shortage of homes in Oregon right now...and most are real old in the area he's in...like 1940 old...my thought is to loan him the money so he has a place for him and his dog.... pretty much all he's got.....when they split at first... he was stay'n at a friends ranch , and sleeping in the trailer.... then she vacated the house so he moved back in.....pretty big mess from what I've heard....

the one my bro has is painted, and he has an old Tahoe painted to match...kinda has a classic type following, and rare to find one for sale..

so more the question....what to do...seems like no matter what...I'll end up the bad guy from what family I have left....the loan would only be about 8k...he's backed to the wall right now,... and if I loan the money...it'll be more of a give....and there'll be hard feelings involved...he says I can just take the trailer..... but then, i'll be the ass for doing that....I think he should just sell it and pay what he owes...he's pretty much screwed right now.... and knows his chance of ever owning a home in the rest of his life is pretty much gone if he looses the house.....so getting this payment made has become a big hill to climb at short notice

I've never heard of that make/model but what I can tell you is that vintage trailers like these, the "canned hams", fiberglass scamps, Santa fe's, etc etc are fucking IN right now. The ol lady wants a project santa fe for her mobile spray tanning business and the cheapest one I've come across in the last couple of months was 1k. No paper work, not registered, completely unusable for rving purposes and needed a full gut and remodel. 1k Sold in 6 hours. I wouldn't doubt if it has a cult following and he may be right in terms of what he values it depending on the condition it's in.

So what I'm thinking is this,... send him the money, and have him send me the title...make him pay 100 bucks a month...till paid... then he keeps his trailer...and his house...and pays the money back...

Good move, everyone wins, you most likely won’t get repaid. But, you’ve capped your losses and you helped out family.

Its never about the money until someone runs out and wants yours, then the part of the family that didn't contribute so much as a $1 to the cause when you did, craps on you for how you lent the money.

I would tell him: you have no equity in the house so walk or fire sale the trailer to a dealer today. Its about time you learn how to get yourself out of your own troubles.

Been there done it

Send the BANK (loan source) the money.
Still have him send you a hundred bux a month till paid.

It's just business.
Good luck Steve.

I don’t understand why he is asking you for money when he has toys he can sell. Not sure if the Tahoe that matches the trailer is his only vehicle but if not he should sell the Tahoe and trailer to pay his bill. If it’s not enough and you want to help a brother out that would be cool. But to just ask you for the money and say hold onto the trailer until I can pay you seems like BS. Why not just sell it.

there's a lot more going on about the house....current status worth about 140k, owes 129k, but fixed up it'll bring 220k... the balloon was due jun.30th...he's on 2500.00 per mon. fixed income... so no problem making bills with extra left....he also just got divorce papers filled today....as with always, each side claims the other one drained all the money and split..I think he has about 3k in cash....his reg. payment is only 680.... and to reeeet a place it would be double to live in an apt....and that would mean losing his dog...him and his dog have been together a long time, do ever thing together...so... even though he never asked to borrow the money,... he did ask for me to help sell it...I think it worth the most to him.... if I can help with putting a loan against the trailer.... that gives him some breathing room...maybe say give both titles...

my relationship with my brother is kinda strange, but I am his big bro,.. and my other 2 passed.... to me life is way too short not to help out someone in need... I donate way more to strangers,... I like that because I never see them again, and feel good knowing I helped out...I'm sure with out getting involved , he'd figure it out....kinda like giving a ride to the gas station to someone walking down the road with a gas can...they still have to go through it... just don't have to walk as far...

Once your family sees your kindness by lending and not pursuing the pay back they'll never ask for anything again :D

Family is family. I just gave it away and said if you can pay it back great. What gets me pissed is when others that call me cheap and don't even offer to lift a finger just because I have more to give

LOL I never saw the money again despite the house being sold and I didn't bother to bring it up.
