I use mine for golf, time and messages mainly, it did catch me in AFIB twice which is nice health feature, the day I passed out I didn't have it on, wish I would have, my Gf could of found me, lucky dog stayed with me and had my phone number on it.

Wife HAD an Apple watch.
Based on what she does, she moved to a Garmin solar powered watch. Thoughts Apple was expensive before I had to purchase that garmin

I have the SE I love it. Only complaint is the battery isn’t as good as the 10. I’m charging it almost daily.

I use it for offroading switching songs or telling my elevation.

I use smart home features on it too. Turn on/off AC lights even tv

I was just going to post a photo of the "suicide nets." but the article from 2011 seemed to put context with the photo so I posted the article that I did. After being called out I "fact checked" myself and there are a lot more recent articles. If someone cares they can look it up, if not "carry on"...

If she's gonna use it with her cell phone nearby (at least for the texting / phonecall / internet capabilities) - you don't need one that has cell / data service.
The watch is available without a cell chip inside and there's no monthly service fee from your carrier. Just buy it anywhere. The functions lke apple fitness, HRM, etc will all work and sync up when the phone is back within range. Anything like GPS / find my friend etc will not work without the phone nearby however.

If she wants to use it stand-alone, and without her phone nearby in the room (get texts or calls on the watch while out jogging, etc) - You're gonna need to get one from your cell phone carrier, and pay the monthly access charge to add it to your plan.

Regarding the watch features / options - Theres a few models and sizes available. The more expensive ones have bigger screen, more memory, more battery life, and im sure more "HEY LAM" features. They will all do 99% of the same stuff, probably all will fit the bill for what you wife would do with it.

We have 3 in our household....I do not have one, because the thought of having yet another device letting me know something 24/7 terrifies me...

I don’t support Apple. I support digging a little deeper.

Apple isn’t responsible for Foxconn’s transgressions, or at least no more so than other company that uses their manufacturing capabilities. A few examples:
Nvidia
Google
Sony
Microsoft
Nintendo

I used to say the exact same thing until I got one. I really like how it tracks my exercise, heart rate, oxygen level, ECG, etc. Because of the watch I was able to ask Siri how many miles did I jog/walk in 2023. 1600
