Eat 2000-2200 calories a day and get some exercise 20-30 minutes a day and see what happens.

The consumption of fat intake is off the charts and most people don't have a clue what they are eating. .

1 gram of carb = 4 calories
1 gram of protein = 4 calories
1 gram of fat =9 calories

2% milk is 37% fat
90% lean ground beef is 55% fat.
LOL going healthily? A grilled Chik-filet sandwich is almost 30% fat, or maybe one of their salads..... 65% fat.

I would get asked quite often from people when I was a personal trainer about how to lose weight quickly for a wedding or some other event. I would tell them to stop eating bread every day and you should be able to drop 15-20 pounds in one month. Many didn't believe me until they did it.

Need to eat everything in moderation and drink plenty of water. Our bodies do not know the difference between hunger and thirst.

I travel a lot for work mainly now in Asia and Europe. When I traveled more to poor countries they were thinner for obvious economic reasons.

In the developed countries they all have fast food and all the other trappings of America. But they do smoke more and seem to enjoy life more.

It’s certainly a conundrum on why America is more overweight.

No, it's not.

Have you been to grocery store lately?

Isles and isles of unhealthy crap. Do you ever see anything Healthy on the shelves? Fuck no, cause it's hidden behind the pop tarts, white bread, sugar puffs and 100 different kinds of soda and chips. Everything in the produce section looks bland and wilted. And none of it actually tastes good.

Beings I'm retired...

I have time to go to Whole Foods for halfway decent produce. To Sprouts for nuts and stuff. To The Corner Butcher Shop for good meat. To Costco to save a few bucks and Stator Brothers for necessities.

Does any normal person with a job and kids have time for all that? Fuck no. You buy what Vons has on the shelf and take in the ass at the cashier, for crap food that's trying to kill you.

How many have non working wife that WANTS to do what I do? Shop smart, cook awesome meals and keep the house spotless?

Don't everyone speak all at once! 🤣

My daughter spent some time with a family in Mexico awhile back...

The mom got up in the morning, went straight to (what we might call) the farmers market, and bought all the food she was gonna cook THAT DAY.

All fresh. No preservatives. Nothing unhealthy. And then she did it again the next day.

We are So busy trying to make a dime. Trying to get ahead, we have forgotten how to actually live.

This country is fucked and there is no turning back.

Make the best of everyday people.

YOLO.

I was in vons last night getting stuff for tonights cook. There was a "family" in the drinks isle. Cart had half the items from the bakery department in it and loading up on soda. Looked to be a young teen about obese with a mask on and mom was probably pushin 300lbs also. The problem was literally right in there cart. amazes me people can let themselves go that bad. My sister and her kids are just as bad. My mom asked if I could order some larger shirts next time. How big? 6xl say what???? damn. And we wonder why health insurance and the whole medical situation is so screwed up.

Japan does eat the shit out of fast food. I love their MacDonalds & Shake Shacks because it's always fresh from so many people in there day & night, it never slows down. There's tons of restaurants, 20 times more than here, but the food is noodles, rice, grilled meats & soups. I lost 8 lbs from being there 2 weeks but we burned a shitload of calories trying to see everything.

In the defense of people have you ever looked at the matrix for this "standard". Ill be honest im no where near meeting this standard, however when i was at my best shape in highschool when i joined the army i wasnt even close to making it. I am 5' 11" and at the time i weighed 200lbs i wasn't ripped but i wasnt soft. I had to be measured because off of my height and weight my BMI was too high. I agree with the statistic of 75% being over weight but that includes a lot people who are athletic as well. Im willing to bet if most of you look at this standard you will realize you haven't meet it your whole adult life. Its pretty ridiculous to be honest.
I was flagged all the time when I was in the Army. Max weight for me height (5’10”) was 168. I was lifting a couple hours a day and was about 190. The weight standards were ridiculous.

Fat is not your enemy. It’s sugar, carbs and processed foods.

Good grief! If I spent half the time you do shopping for food, I'd never be able to exercise! 🤣😄:p

At most grocery stores, all the good healthy stuff is on the outer rows/aisles. All the crap is in the middle rows/aisles.

We get fruits, veggies and some meat from Sprouts, Most protein (chicken, beef, pork and fish) comes from Costco. All other necessities from from Stater Brothers.

A lot depends on your metabolism of your body to balance. I was 172 lbs while in the army, Right weight for 6' tall. I'll be 77 yr old in May, about 165 lbs now, lost some height, possibly due to some bone loss [ shrinkage, lol ] . Never over eat, beer is not on my list either. Most of my friends who drink beer has the typical beer belly, I've none. Most of my friends couldn't get in my Formula racecar, let alone trying to get out of. 🤣

One thing I recommend any of you with overweight, ask your family doc to do the blood test for thyroid function. If you checked out for hypo, there could very well be your overweight issue. Friend of mine had a supermodel body, One day I spotted her with her husband at a RV show. She was like 300 lbs. Turned out, she wasn't caught . having hypothyroid in time. Her number shot up to 500, nearly died. She spent 8 months in hospital, vital organs shutting down. Took her years to get back to her normal weight with Synthroid meds daily.

What does 1500-2000 calories a day while building concrete forms, finishing concrete and going to the gym get you? The results aren't the same for everyone. That gets me nothing, I have to be under 1500 calories a day to lose weight. 2200 calories is a bad day for me, I'm usually 1800ish, but I will tell you eating dinner no later than 5:30 has stabilized my weight, I don't fluctuate more than a couple lbs over a 2-3 week period now. I only drink a couple beers a month.

At six foot three and 215 I was considered “overweight” when I played a lot of basketball in the 80’s and 90’s as 200 pounds was the borderline.

I think the more realistic number is that half are overweight. The 74 percent number needs a little more parsing.

I'm 6'3 and one of my dr's wanted me down to 185lbs, that would make me a walking stick. I just laughed at him!

I've bounced around over the years from 215 to 230, with 215 being my "healthy" weight, which according to the chart above is still in the middle of the overweight category. I'm carrying about 15 extra lbs around right now, that puts me in the obese category. I am in no way obese, I think the standards/ideas today of what a "healthy" person in the eyes of the CDC should be adjusted, but not to the point of overweight being ok/the norm.

I shop the outer walls/aisles of the supermarket mostly, but even then you need to watch what you're getting. Stay away from the inside aisles as much as possible. No vegetable oils, no HFCS, limited sugar, limited carbs, as little processed food as possible. 50% of your plate should be veggies.

It’s a quick weight lose but not a sustainable diet.
what's not sustainable about protein and vegetables? which is basically what a keto diet is. Add in some healthy fats and you're GTG. Seems to work out pretty good in Asian cultures.

This ... and it's 100X more sustainable that the calorie cutting weight loss/gain yoyo that so many people think is the only way that weigh loss works.

I lifted this morning, then ate a 5 egg ham omelet after. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m usually starving after I workout, and I’m doing every day for month of April. I’m eating like crazy right now. Jerry is right, gainz……. I’ll bulk up and then change my workout to light weights and more cardio.

BMI charts and calculators are ridiculous. I weigh 204, I'm 6'2" tall. BMI is 26.6, thus I'm overweight.

I've lost a bunch of weight because of laryngological issues. Weight was around 240 for years, as high as 300 in 2010 and 2021. Right now my ribs are visible, I'm wearing 34" jeans and XL shirts.

That's not overweight.

Nope, sure isn't.

My son is just about 6'6 and weighs 180lbs. According to the BMI chart he's in the healthy category. While he is healthy, he's a bone rack and can't put on any weight.

Just to show I'm a man of my word, (and maybe an idiot) here's a photo from today. I never take pics in the gym since I'm obviously nothing to look at plus I always leave my phone in the truck. 57 years old/ 5' 10' - 190.

20 years ago, I had a little strength, but not so much anymore. My routine is 3 days a week mtn biking and 2 days sometimes 3 in the gym. My workouts are borderline lame with all of my dirt biking injuries, but I still try. Who else has the heuvos to post a "today" pic of themself? 😀

I was fluctuating 5-7lbs eating at 7 or later. A year ago I started having bad acid reflux issues so I started eating earlier, like 5 pretty regular and my fluctuations stabilized, I also have to take a prescription medication for my acid reflux.

Did you try apple cider vinegar for your acid reflux?
Seems to work for many people.

I actually had to have an endoscopy because I didn’t even realize I had acid reflux. I was used to it and it caused my esophagus to constrict.

I did, it made it worse, I had the endoscopy as well, they didn't find anything and no barrets esophagus either, I got it done at the same time as my colonoscopy.

Never had acid reflux (balogna burps) till I started Cialis , Cialis apparently relaxes your sphincter at the top of your stomach , one nite woke up in a panic to get Alka seltzer Now I keep it by my bed

I actually enjoyed the keto diet.

Meat, pork, fish, cheese and veggies.

No bread or carbs.

Lost 40lbs doing it.

Now I’m just watching my calories and working out 4 days a week.

Hahahahaha……………..yeah I got the twofer as well, same results.

I paid out of pocket for the procedures.
Second time I used a “direct care provider” (cash pay). Wanna guess the price I paid for both procedures? Was a brand new facility with a great staff.

wait for it

The BMI chart is useless if you carry any muscle mass at all. I'd be more concerned about percentage of body fat. Ten years ago I was 13%, now I'm 16 ish.

Definitely a lot of overweight people running around.
