Anyone regret having a lifted truck?

Lifted..our 05 Dodge 3500 has had a Carli 3” 2.5 King system for 18 years and wouldn’t have it any other way. With the Amp steps for easy enter/exit and the much improved ride I’d definitely do again.

What is the practical advantage to a lifted truck? If you actually offroad with it, then there's one, but it's kind of a bad idea to be offroading your main driver/transportation to the offroad area severely enough such that a lift would be required. Most guys who have a lift don't offroad them anyway, which I always find amusing. Those mall parking lots can be killer, though.

Beyond that, there is no practical advantage to it. Cool factor, maybe, but the negatives seem to outweigh that by far.

And most guys who do off road have the absolute minimal lift to clear the tires. Lifted trucks are dumb.

Needs to be tall enough to crawl under it to change the oil without a jack. Needs to be short enough to reach stuff in the bed without climbing in the bed or needing a ladder.

When I first got my truck i took it mudding. Never again. Spent two months cleaning underneath the truck.

End of the day no one needs anything. We all have it cause its nice to us. Don't need a lifted truck, don't need a 1000hp boat, don't need a 1500hp street car.

I love my lifted truck. Its not to hard on tires but a GM meaning the IFS when you have big tires it is hard on the steering parts.
Dont drive it as much as I used to. Never had to replace brake pads. Early 2000s gm truck guys will know.
I specially enjoy driving it in traffic. I can see what is ahead and when its time to merge if the person next to me is being an ass and wont let me I will slowly start o move over and they will back off. They dont do that in your commuter

I can’t leave anything stock, my trucks full long travel with 37s. I did UCAs and foxes on my wife’s 4runner with 33s. I get the appeal of lower maintenance, but every time I see either vehicle I love them.

Looking at buying a new truck and came across a lightly used 2024 Ford F250 with a full 5.5” Carli e-venture kit and 37’s. Upon initially looking at it I was thinking this would be killer but now am having second thoughts that 5 years from now I could wake and up wonder why I didn’t buy a stock truck. Price seems to be reasonable for what it has done to it but at the same time I could buy an equal trim new F250 or similar for the same cost. I plan to keep the truck 7-10 years. Truck won’t be used to tow heavy so that is not a concern. I’m 28 with no wife or kids if that plays into context as well.

That lift in my opinion is the best lift you can buy.. If this is your first lifted truck then go for it. You wont regret it. The feeling of looking cool and tough out weighs the negatives. Make sure the truck has amp steps. If not get them. Having good steps to get into the truck then hide away when not needed makes the biggest difference.

I had a big 12 inch lift with 38's and 40's back in the 2000's when it was the cool thing to do. Then I went stock cause hated buying tires and replacing joints. Now im back lifted but only a 3 1/4 lift with 37s.

If it is a slightly used truck don’t just shop for the price look at the interest rate vs buying new.

Used car interest rates are high and lots of manufacturers are starting to offer decent rates on new cars.

I know this is RDP so you are probably paying cash, but just incase lol…

my truck has the 11" cst kit on it. I bought it with it so it is what it is, but if i was to do it again i would go with a 4" kit on 37's. I dont daily this truck, i have a 1500 on 35's i daily drive so the big lift doesnt bother me since i rarely drive the dmax.

My F150 has a 6inch lift on 37’s. Love it but after 4 years I’m kinda getting sick of climbing into it. And getting shit in and out of the bed is a pain. Now I need tires…$$$$$. I think I’m going to put amp research steps on it and I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Since i'm on the older end of the peeps here on RDP my thoughts are. lifted trucks are harder to get into, harder to put stuff in the back, harder to work on the motor, just pain in the ass sometimes and absolutely totally worth it.

My AT4 came stock w/ the 2" lift and 33's
when the time comes for new tires, I plan on lifting the front another 2" or so, and tucking 35's w/ some new wheels. This is one reason I really like the raptors is that you can run a 37" tire without much lift.

My new truck is here. 9 months ordered.
I can level and keep my near new methods and nittos or leave it alone.
Pros, mpg, should tow better but I don't tow anything heavier than a SxS long distance. Will drive quieter and better.

Cons, I had a fucking nightmare last December with my new toyos. 2 months of bullshit. Balanced 6 times at least. Replaced a few. Finally toyo told me to go buy whatever I want at discount and they will pay. But it took months to get there. Got nittos, discount couldn't balance. Took it to my Ford guy, 3 days later they got it right
Maybe this a pro....
Either way, there's ALWAYS something when you lift. Might not be monthly, but it's gonna hapoen

2017 f250. 6” lift. Have had 37’s, 38’s and 40’s. Currently back on 37’s. Over the lift. My wife hates driving my truck cause of it. I work in LA from time to time and parking garages can’t accommodate it. I’ve also been in garages that advertise one height, only to find out they lied.

I plan on going down to a Carli 2.5 or 3.5 at some point in time, so I can still run 37‘s. Also looking at getting a new truck but don’t want to have a payment again, so not sure what to do.
