Anyone regret having a lifted truck?

Looking at buying a new truck and came across a lightly used 2024 Ford F250 with a full 5.5” Carli e-venture kit and 37’s. Upon initially looking at it I was thinking this would be killer but now am having second thoughts that 5 years from now I could wake and up wonder why I didn’t buy a stock truck. Price seems to be reasonable for what it has done to it but at the same time I could buy an equal trim new F250 or similar for the same cost. I plan to keep the truck 7-10 years. Truck won’t be used to tow heavy so that is not a concern. I’m 28 with no wife or kids if that plays into context as well.

I bought a truck brand new. Drove straight to the lift shop and Uber’d home. A week later I picked up the truck. Damn thing wouldn’t fit in the garage. Supposedly a 10” lift was too tall 😂

Sold that truck 6 weeks later after staring at it baking in the summer heat in the driveway lol

It wouldn’t be too hard to source the parts to lower back to stock height. I lifted my duramax last summer and I’m already contemplating taking the lift off. Imo it depends what you are using the truck for. If it’s your primary tow rig or daily driver I would go with a stock height truck.

Lifted trucks can become a pain in the ass. Cons I've found on lifted trucks is tires are expensive, alignments are challenging, loading and unloading is pain, they ride worse, lose braking power and just power. Pros are they can be a pussy magnet but the types it attracts don't have jobs or know how to cook.

Only when I have to go into a parking garage or my garage door isn’t tall enough

My biggest gripe is I can't fit in my work parking structure. I have a daily so it's not a huge deal but sometimes I have to take the truck to work and have to park 2 blocks away in an open lot. Other gripe is loading dirt bikes, ramp is at such a steep angle now it makes it harder to load. Go drive a stock truck, then drive a truck with a carli kit. You will see why people live with the hassle. Especially if you do any off-road, even if just fire roads.

I wouldn’t buy another lifted truck. My super duty has an Icon 4.5in lift with all the relocation brackets, adjustable track bar, springs, yada yada.

Inconveniences: Don’t fit in the auto wash, don’t fit in a standard garage door, steering is never quite as tight, fuel mileage suffers, the big wheels to make it look right tend to bump steer.

I love my truck, but when I drive a new stock truck it’s a nicer experience. Just doesn’t look quite as cool.

I could list all the 'Old Man Reasons' to not lift, or buy a lifted truck, but we've all heard them.
You're only young once, if it's Your thing and you're 'into it', go for it . . . it's not like you'll be welded to it.
. . . and yeah, I'm 54 and in an old stock height truck.

What is the practical advantage to a lifted truck? If you actually offroad with it, then there's one, but it's kind of a bad idea to be offroading your main driver/transportation to the offroad area severely enough such that a lift would be required. Most guys who have a lift don't offroad them anyway, which I always find amusing. Those mall parking lots can be killer, though.

Beyond that, there is no practical advantage to it. Cool factor, maybe, but the negatives seem to outweigh that by far.

Depends on what you will use the truck for. I've had a 6" lift and towed a 40ft 5th wheel. Not good in crosswinds, but looked pimp. The main bitch though, loading. Bikes are a pain, but you get creative. Loading sheets of plywood, even 5r's of gas, gets old.

A leveling kit on new super/heavy duties is plenty in my opinion. They are pretty high from the factory and most can fit 37's by just leveling the front.
This… my buddy has a 17’ F250 with 37s, all he did was remove the rear block so it would sit level and it looks great.

New trucks are tall as shit, my 2014 Ram has a 4.5” lift on 35s and my step dads 24’ GMC 2500 is 6” taller than my truck, his truck is stock…

Truck will mainly be used to shuttle dirt bikes and mountain bikes. Other than that it will be a grocery getter. This could be a great excuse to buy a moto trailer.

Since you're not towing anything heavy why not an F150?, they can tow about 11k LBS.. But I do like the idea of buying that barely used F250 that some guy dumped a lot of money into, that Carli E Venture kit with wheels and tires and labor was easily north of 10k. You'll probably get bored of a stock truck and want to lift it anyways. You're young, buy the barely used lifted truck and enjoy it. I don't think you'll regret it. Keep us posted.. Just my .02

I have a 10" lift on my dinosaur.

I've pulled up right next to a few brand new Ford trucks, and the hood level is almost the same height as mine!

Not sure exactly how that works?

I've needed the ground clearance a hand full of times. It came in ULTRA handy this summer when I had to change my steering gear box out on the trail! 🤣

Trailer works! Don't have to unload when you get home, just unhitch. The only time I was really unhappy having a lifted truck was after my wreck. Not the truck's problem, I was just wracked up too much to pull myself into the thing.

There is no practical advantage of owning a custom powerboat, when a little bayliner would do the job anyway....lol...

Costs seems to be damn near sixes on a loaded 1/2 ton and 3/4. I also feel a gas 3/4 ton setup will be more reliable than a half ton. Fuel mileage also seems too close to care.

My 2021 F250 Tremor is stock with 37's and I never regret having a lifted truck. If there is a parking garage, just valet it, it’s their problem now.

All trucks come from the factory looking all stink bug so just reverse level it. The stock ride never changes.

Yeah, I definitely don't want to load 3 Adventure bikes in the back of a lifted truck with 37's. But he's young, he can handle the torture.

When I went to Glamis every other weekend. Lifted truck was great. My crew would go 2 weeks early to get a spot on holiday weekends. I could pull up put it in 4 wheel low and pull right into camp. Arriving whenever. At the river with are shifty launch ramp. I could back in as far as needed no issues.

My newest truck does sit way higher stock. No issues launching. Or going down the embankment to the dirtbike track by upper sandbar.

I did swap my old lift when I quit going to Glamis. I originally had it set at 12" with 40" toyos on 22s. Had a tire hook up from a guy on GD.com. so burning through tires every 12-15k miles was no big deal. They always looked fresh. Veedriven is running that lift still.
