This is my wife’s 2012 Escape 3.0. It has a fuel leak where the fill tube goes into the side of the tank. To me, it looks like the yellow seal/grommet is what’s leaking, but I can’t find that part in any exploded diagram Ford parts website. Anyone here work at a dealer and have any insight? Thanks.

Check Dorman , Ford will probably make you buy the whole tank

I recall ford had issues with the capless fill spout and it was a pretty expensive piece for what it was

I'm gonna say that hose is leaking. It's all swollen up and has the wrong kinna clamp on it. I'd clean it all up and check carefully. Replace that hose and that clamp regardless.
Yeah the whole fill neck from Ford is only $150 or so with New hoses and Clamps. Might try that first. A new tank is $800 so I’d like to avoid that.

If it's straight hose, you can pick up the hose and clamps at Hose Man a LOT cheaper.

If it has bends in it, you can still use straight hose, and buy steel bends from https://www.ptbtubebending.com/

Might be more work, but might be less than 150 bucks too!

If you do need a tank, try this place...

I agree that the leak is coming from the hose and clamp area but Ford part # CL8Z-9034-B uses that same worm clamp, so I don't think the clamp is wrong. At least not according to Ford specs. The hose is definitely expired though.

Thanks guys. I ordered the whole fill tube assembly on Amazon. Hopefully that takes care of it. I’ll come back and update.

UPDATE: I ordered the fuel fill hose from Ford and replaced that. At the same time, I used this fuel tank repair epoxy around the outside of the yellow seal/grommet to help stop any leaks if they were coming from there.

Well a day later, the gas had eaten away that epoxy. Not sure how you’re supposed to repair a fuel tank with it if gas dissolves it...? Also tells me that the fuel wasn’t leaking from the hose, it was from here.

So I need a new tank 💩 But what I did find is that you can get an aftermarket steel tank for 2009-10 Escapes, which appeared to be no different than my 2012. $200 instead of $800+ From Ford was a welcome break. Now it’s got a nice new steel tank and should be good to go 👍🏻

Curious, did you replace the hose/clamp with new when you installed the new tank?

I replaced the hose and clamp first, it was part of the whole fill tube assembly. Then It was obvious it was leaking from the yellow part, so I changed the tank

Any idea what model you bought for the replacement tank? I'm in the exact same boat. Thanks!
