I've been using Pandora for a few years now and was very happy with it.

Was just getting ready to upgrade to get rid of commercials and get more features when they went and changed the whole format with no warning or instructions on how to use it.

I can no longer find the shuffle feature (plays random songs/artists) or even figure out how to add a new artist. Very frustrating.

On top of this, they made the change while I was in the middle of a road trip so I was stuck manually changes stations the whole trip.

Anyone else experiencing this? I use it on my I-phone.

I've had pandora for years. Paying the $3.99. I'm done with them. I use YouTube red now music. Yeah it's $12 a month but they have everything with music videos and I can down load anything for offline use. The format is much nicer. IMO

I got sick of pandora, specifically when you play random. It seems like there is a loop that plays the same songs on the same stations every time I hit random. I switched to Spotify, and it's pretty cool. You can select one artist, and hear just their music. But, I am detecting the same loop, where you hear the same songs everyday. It's such a struggle.

I used to use Pandora but I like Spotify much better. You have to take a few hours with it in the beginning to put in all the songs that you want into playlists like you would do for itunes. Once done though all of your music is a touch of a button. Their discover feature is awesome too. Their radio is on par with Pandora but I am adding 3-5 songs a week to my playlists with discover and I am well over 1000 songs now. Another thing I use is download as you can download any songs to the device and it will play when you don't have a cell signal. It has a built in equalizer that is decent so you can tune it to play on the boat sound system, in the car or at home.

I have Sirius and just bought the Pandora premium for 10 bucks a month. What I'm finding is some of the songs I listen to are remixed by either the original artists or close to it. Kinda like K-Tel back in the day. I hate that shit, yes, I can tell cheap-O Pandora!
What I'm looking for is a downloadable service so I can build a playlist to listen to on my boat.

I'm standing by for good info too, thanks.

One of the things I liked about Pandora is when you select an artist they will play other artists that are similar. I have found artists I never knew about before that are now on my list because of it. Does the discover feature do the same thing?

I also like that I can select an artist and it will play many different songs by that artist instead of having to type in every song manually. I have discovered great songs that I didn't know the artist recorded this way.

I have noticed this too. I have quite a few artists on my play list and they do tend to play the same stuff over and over and I occasionally check my list to see if an artist is still on there because they haven't played any songs by them. My thinking is they play the songs with the lowest royalty cost more frequently.

I do a lot of long road trips and will sometimes hear the same song several times a day.

Yes Discover will give you 50+/- songs a week that they think you will like. I usually pull down 4 or 5 each week. Then on top of that they give you 20 albums that they think you will like each week. Then they will look at the last 15 songs that you listened to and give you 5-15 albums that they think you will like based on that artist. I am constantly adding new songs to my playlist.

Don't ask me what algorithms Spotify uses to do this, but they take it to the next level by letting you open up a radio station based off the mood of individual songs. It's a little weird if you really think about it but awesome at the same time. They also have a TON of genres and podcasts to listen to

Looks like I'll give Spotify a try. Wonder if there is a way to transfer my playlist over from Pandora? Probably not but would be nice not to have to manually enter them all in again. Oh well, not that big a deal I guess.

Thanks.

I don't care about music in the boat any more.
When we are on a road trip in the 2012 Ram I have over 100 CDS recorded to the U Connect hard drive.
No sound compression or distortion. It sounds like I'm in my living room.

If I could have a U connect system installed in the Hallett without butchering the interior or any fiber glass I may consider.

UPDATE!

Just got an e-mail from Pandora. Seems they gave me a free one week upgrade to Pandora Plus. It would have been nice of them to inform me of this. :eek :D

The e-mail included instructions for all the issues i was having and now I am able to navigate my way through.

I'll see about the repetition of songs on shuffle though.

Anyway, I guess I'll stick it out with them for now as their was response was pretty positive.:thumbsup

just load those CDs onto a USB thumb drive for the boat

I've had Sirius/Xm for years and hate it, now I have had Pandora for a few years and I'm about to drop it too, their both like "Groundhog Day" playing the same loop with a few artists.
I still have a few IPod Classics and use them when I have no signal especially when out in the Desert in the JK, I have downloaded music on my JK's hard drive but Im unable to shuffle the songs :(
I have recently signed up for Spotify and I like the options & downloading Albums and it will take hours to set it up. So I think Spotify will win out the others.
