Those of you with Ravelco. Can you still use remote start on your trucks?

I assume no which is not to bad except when at the river in the summer.

I asked if I could order a truck with a key and they don't have a definite answer for me. Putting a boot on the wheel gets old.

Any other good options besides a kill switch.

The Ravelco I had on my F350 would not allow engine to start unless the plug was in. Remote start or not

No remote start with the ravelco. How about a swith for the fuel pump ground under the seat. Did that on a POS Honda i had to slow em down

My Viper is what allows me to have remote start on my dinosaur truck.

One of the trucks by me had the newest viper alarm. On camera they got it under 2 minutes. Dodge TRX and owner is a cop. He spent 10k on antitheft on the TRX that replaced it. He was out the pocket 30k on the loss.

I have viper on 2 of my work trucks. Looking to add kill switches or ravelco. Can't afford another 35k loss anytime soon.

But at the river you should be able to lrit in for remote start, we don't have as big a theft problem here.

Just like any tool in your toolbox...

It takes a certain amount of skill to, one, understand How it works, and two, to make the best use of it.

My Viper has a kill system built into it.

Why doesn't yours?

Maybe you should seek out a different installer? 🤷‍♂️

It does. But the thieves know how to disable it.

Need additional antitheft that the thieves can't easily bypass. That's why I am asking. What other options are there besides over the counter alarm systems that they can easily defeat.

Let's talk about this for a moment...

Are they able to "wirelessly" overcome the security of the Viper ECU? If so, that is definitely a problem that cannot be overcome.

Quick Google search reveals this Was possible, but the venerability was patched in 2019, so it's unlikely at this point, that a wireless attack could occur...

So at this point, it's all about how the ignition, start, fuel pump circuits are wired and concealed.

We are back to the installation at this point.

The by pass has to be well concealed and protected to be effective. If some half azz installer just cut and jumped the wires under the dash, right next to where they installed the alarm module, then sure, any thief worth his salt, could work around that I five minutes!

So you have to have a well concealed module, with all the wiring hidden so as not to be revealed in a five minute search.

There is a right and wrong way to accomplish pretty much anything, yes?

If they can't find the module that's provided the interrupt/by pass, they are going to be on their merry way.

No matter what brand of system you use, it HAS to be properly installed.

Properly installed meaning, buried.

To where?

Since mine got took. I have had friends of friends have them stolen in. Manhattan Beach, several on the hill, long Beach. Redondo Beach, Torrance, Norco and LA. One of my brothers coworkers had his raptor stolen out his garage.

They tried to get my Exs new Tesla out her driveway a block from the beach. And got a Tesla out the driveway of another in PV.

I am getting ready to submit my plans for my new garage. Working on building the steel gates and fences.

I got a VTT port lock for my 392 wrangler but i’ve never put it on. Mainly because it never leaves the garage.

I saw a video like this and thought of your situation. Cheaper and faster than a wall. The video I saw was a little more stout.

After 18 years to get my business where it's at it would be tough to start over.

My Moms house is 2 minutes away and She is always needs help.

I could hear my neighbor he just got home now. He has a keyed Cat battery disconnect on his Cummins. But he says lifting the hood gets old.

I am eating dinner and browsing trucks now. Keep telling myself to just buy the Tundra and not worry about it. But then the thieves win. And I have to drive across rice road at 2 am after working 12 hours in a old truck with my Nieces and Nephews with me. Might just say fuck it and buy a Diesel Denali. Found a few 10k off. Only 90k otd instead of a 100.

Put a hidden fuel shutoff switch. Very easy.

I hear pacific palisades recently opened up a ridiculous amount of ready to build lots. If only you knew a contractor that could build the house.
if your truck gets stolen there, you can bet it’s the actor or director that lives next door is buzzed and just needed a ride down to the local dive for another round.

get the damn gates in, that would have been call next day and done same week. And your neighborhood thieving tweaker , send an address and what’s it’s worth for him to get a city eviction notice.

My buddy got a DUII and lost his license for 10yrs. He is selling his '14 Denali crew cab short bed D-Max. But you probably dont want to drive to Oregon to get a truck.

😲 Guessing this wasn't his first issue with his licence? 10 years!
