We just got it a few weeks ago so I’m guessing the newest one?
If you can't push the button on ethernet cable end, then just pull. Some ends you need to push some you don't, at least on mine it is that way.

I just installed my new Standard unit and had the same concern, read this thread, then watched a video online, and like Stingray says, you just pull in out firmly, the design doesn’t need you to release the tab that is inaccessible once plugged in, it’s supposed to release on its own.

Are the speeds really sub 300mbps??
varies.. in our area lately haven’t seen anything below 100mbps, typically 2-300, sometimes over 400. Starlink is for underserved areas or mobile. Our local DSL is max at 25mbps so 2-300 is great….

About $100 off the mini/unlimited data on the Star link webpage until Dec 8
I clicked on buy and all my info including CC appeared, I guess from buying Tesla Solar.

It'll be here Monday.

If in an RV, it might be able to see through your roof.

Gonna shove mine in a cabinet over the microwave once I get back to my toy hauler.

Had it mounted on a flag pole from hitched4fun.com this past season.

The Starlink Mini order says the mini comes with "A pole mount."
Dunno what that includes.

We'll mount it on the RV ladder.
EZ on and off is essential and just outta reach of easy theft with other precautions.
Especially at Emerald Cove where anything is subject for theft.

Various RV mounting Kits available on AMAZON:

Our 5G data on our Verizon is fine hot spotting, then ok when 5G maxes out and defaults to 4G ONLY if in close range to a cell tower.
If on the fringes of service 4G is too weak.
We have the max allowed 5G from Verizon.

We had two days of freezing rain and high winds in the desert and stayed in of course.
Easily burned through all our 5G and even with a cell phone booster the 4G signal was weak and mostly unusable.
At Emerald Cove we can see the cell towers across the river and the 4G signal performs as well as 5G in our applications.

In the desert RV camping, locked-in sour weather two family members online with their work, me watching sports and movies, kids online gaming, wife on all kind'a different all day long Zoom meetings, time to move back up to satellite.

Pausing the service on months we don't us it is a BIG savings bonus to be considered.

yes....data is data
On our cellphone Jet Pac plan, data only includes a limited amount of streaming apart from text. Very little %.
There is small print concerning streaming on some data plans.

I get that but you are referring to Starlink in the OG post....data is data as far as that goes

It’s game changing, your gonna love it.
Glamis holiday weekends spotty service for text and calls at best, data I don’t care who you have for service is shit until 1am-6am

with Starlink our group will have tvs streaming, phones all online, video games being played all at the same time and no lag.

no more, hey can’t stay at cement flats it’s a dead zone for service
so Id say maybe it’s not always great, since you don’t have the excuse of no service anymore 😂

A while ago had a couple systems that would briefly lose connection, affected A/Ps and cameras. Used 3rd party router(bypass mode for starlink). Solved problems. But have not heard or seen it with gen 3...

I have had Starlink for a year now and I can say its awesome. It never fails to work. Every time Frontier fucks up and my office is down at work I pull it out of the motorhome and I am back at it.
Just got back from the desert where I had 24 devices on it two separate tvs out side playing football games for some family and not once was it interrupted or slow in the 5 days out there.

Here comes the village idiot….

We’d like to utilize starlink at home as our sole data source, and take it with us in the MH when we go on trips. Can I simply take the unit with me, or do I need a separate plan for each?

Everything has a trade off:

If you get a residential system, you would not be able to take it with you, but at home you’ll have better speeds and more reliable internet.

If you get a roam plan you can use it at home and mobile but you’ll have slightly slower and less reliable internet.

The lower reliability is only really an issue in highly congested areas.

If I want to cut the cable and stream TV, does the roam unlimited plan offer the bandwidth to support this With decent reliability? We live in a mid-size town suburb of Tacoma…. Not very congested.

The bandwidth will be fine. I use Starlink most every day, I’m posting this response using it, and have heard it can be slower in congested areas but haven’t experienced that issue yet.

I’m on a roam plan and have taken the unit with me everywhere from Seattle to Havasu to Cabo San Lucas and zero issues while supporting dozens of devices at varying times.

Only issues I’ve experienced is where a structure or trees is obscuring its line-of-sight to the sky.

It’s been flawless. I own two roam units and both have been great.

Is 50gb enough to stream a ball game?
And since the home plan is currently only $120/mo, and the 50gb roam is only $50/month. It seems like the best option for me would be to bite the bullet and buy the hardware for both a permanent home unit, and a small dishy for the Motorhome. Then toggle the Roam plan on and off for the MH for months that we use it. Yes?

streaming in HD is appx 2.5GB per hour. 4K can be 7-10.

You can toggle between the unlimited and 50gb plan month-to-month if you like.

For instance, Thanksgiving I used one of the two I have in the desert with the girlfriend, her two kids and my daughter. I switched it to the 50gb plan just to test how many gig I would actually use. So a total of five of us. All the kids were using it with their online shenanigans and I streamed NetFlixs on the tv and watched football games and only used something like 25gb of data so the 50gb plan made sense.

When I’m home and constantly streaming and using it for work or we’re racing and the entire team is using it I switch to the $150 unlimited package. It’s all done through the StarLink app on your phone. It also tells you how many gig you’re using in real time. StarLink will prorate your costs if you switch plans mid cycle depending on where you’re at in the billing cycle.

It seemed like HD was more like 1.5gb per hour when I do the math on my use versus time streaming but I’m sure that can vary. Granted we were in the desert and going on desert rides every other hour or and I was turning everything off each time we left camp.

The installer from Best Buy didn’t show up 2 weeks ago to do the install. No call, no show.
They rescheduled for today. I was given a 14 hour window of when they will show up. 7AM-9PM.
I’m not hopeful.
Buyer beware.
