Awesome Vid Tom...

Air Show of 97 I got to ride in Ed Shipley's P-51 Mustang big Beautiful Doll after the air show... Talk about awesome.... He took me over Doylestown and started cranking and banking, by the time we landed my stomach was in my throat for almost 3 hours... Was amazing. The only other one I wanted to fly in was an F4U Corsair...

The TBM-900 is the latest version of a bad ass airplane. It has a bunch of improvements over the -850, I think it's the nicest turboprop single in production. One sexy mofo...

The 350 is a better all around airplane, which is why it is still in production and most of the Starships got ran through a rock crusher.

Honestly, I'd be happy with a new engine for my Mouse. :D

The starship was way ahead of its time. The FAA almost killed that plane out of the gates because they didn't know how to certify a composite aircraft.

First all glass cockpit, aerodynamically impossibly to stall. You could almost hear a pin drop in that cabin with the pushers. It was a little in the pricy side compared to a jet but a damn fine airplane.

The starship had one off parts and that drove the cost up and led Raytheon to buy them back.

The autoclave used for the starship is now/was used for the premiere.

I'd bet if that plane came out now or around the 2000's it would be a totally different story.

The Starship's problem was Linden Blue. Not content to wait to roll out the airplane he had Rutan build the 85% scale POC aiframe. It was good looking and a great performer. If Beech management would have built the POC airplane it would have been a world beater.

Instead, Beech went off and built the Starship. It was big, comfortable, heavy, expensive, and slow. It also liked it's runway. The 2000A addressed most of these issues but the 350 was on the market by then and could out lift, out run, and had better runway performance for less cost. The only thing you can do in the Starship you can't in the King Air is stand up in it. :D

He kills commerce when he does this. I wonder if any presidents know what they do to the airspace when they fly.

Just call your self life guard, they won't give you any trouble. :)

I'd take either one...the PC-12 is great for hauling a bunch of stuff and it's a fine airplane. The TBM is smaller but cruises about 35 knots faster.

Was watching a show on Texas and they showed the President Johnson ranch, its now a museum. Johnson while president would travel on a Lockheed Jetstar, the museum has one on display. It was one of the first business jets out in the early 60's. Anyway cool plane but four engines makes it not very fuel efficient. Elvis also had one.

Here is a clip from the documentary one six right. I highly suggest it for anyone who has ever looked up at an airplane.

This just absolutely makes me sick.

I still can't believe the stupidity of Daley. What responsible mayor would close a tool for business, an asset that allowed people to get in and out of Chicago to do deals and boost the city's economy?

It was a typical arrogant liberal act, the belief that government has the right to do whatever it wants, to hell with the citizens. The government in California is the reason companies are moving to Texas...California thinks business exists to provide tax revenue. Texas wants business to grow and prosper. The state and the citizens benefit.

Executive Airport in south Dallas is getting a multimillion dollar runway expansion in an effort to attract more business aviation. The Commemorative Air Force just announced they are moving from Midland to Executive to increase the number of people that will see their airplanes and the annual Wings Over Texas air show.

Addison Airport continues to grow. McKinney National just finished construction of a new tower and runway. Meacham Airport in Fort Worth has large corporate aircraft maintenance facilities and they are expanding.

I think access for business aviation is a key factor in determining the location of corporate headquarters. With these airports surrounding the DFW area, big companies will see that as an advantage to being located here.

Another bad ass turboprop...The Piaggio P180 Avanti II. It cruises at 440 MPH, just a bit slower than similar sized jets and the operating costs are much less. Nicknamed The Catfish. :D

They have a very distinct sound because the engine exhaust passes through the propellers. When I hear one passing over I run outside to check it out. I'm a total airplane geek.

The Avanti... wouldn't mind having one of those in the stable.

Daley closed Miegs because his wife didn't like looking at the airfield from their residence. That and he wanted to put a Casino on the island.

What really pisses you off is the city has completely earased any mention of the airportfrom it's archives. I was walking around O'Hare one day waiting for a flight and there was an aviation in Chicago exhibit it one of the concourses. There was a picture of "Northerly Island" and a brief note that it was used as a GA airport for a short time. Meigs was in operation over 60 years and the island was created for the airport. Fuck Richard Daley.

Here's another aircraft that flies over my house on approach to its home base at Addison Airport. FiFi is the only B-29 in the world still flying. When it passes over the four Wright R-3350 Cyclone engines make an unmistakable sound, and I'm out the door again to see it go by. If you get a chance to see it on tour, don't miss it. There's only one, and it won't be flying forever. Rides are available, they cost between $600 and $1,500 depending where you sit. The $1,500 seat is at the bombardier's station, and it's a bad ass view. The aircraft will be in Napa between Monday and Thursday, so if you're in the Bay Area be looking for it.

What pisses me off the most is how they went in the middle of the night and bulldozed the Xs in there, totally chicken shit.

I hope Santa Monica doesn't end up like this.

The same sort of people are leading the charge against the Santa Monica Airport. They are militant assholes that won't be satisfied until the airport is closed.

C-124 Flight Engineer's station...the aircraft was also known as "Old Shaky". :D

Take a look at the fuel control panel. You thought fuel management in a Cessna 310 was a pain in the ass... :p
