Didn't wanna jump in other thread.......Daughter is fresh outta Army and enrolled full time in college starting in January ....part time job. She needs new shoes on her Jeep JK wrangler. Currently has BFG. KO2 275/70/18r. She would like to stay the same as she plans on using her new spare as one of the swap outs. She will need 3 new ones for now (she'll throw one of the better used ones back to the spare). Will need em shipped to East TN......so far best I see online is $341 w/ free shipping. Any members with deals? Thanks

How old is the spare? I'm not sure I'd want one 10 year old tire with 3 new ones. Especially for the price of BFGs. You can get a set of 4 Toyos for less than 3 BFGs, and they're not pieces of shit like BFGs. The spare doesn't need the same tread as the other tires.

The Pathfinders are (or were) made by Hankook....an excellent tire. but, they don't look as "bro" as the BFGs.

I'm a fan. I had them on 3 different vehicles. They don't seem to wear, excellent traction on road and in dirt...where 99% of folks use their trucks. Never had 'em in mud because I avoid mud.

Walmart will install Coopers, $185. each plus tax/install fees, they look pretty good:

No shit. I’ve been running Coopers on both trucks and are happy with them.
We got coopers on some of our vehicles and the price and quality has been excellent. Especially their 14 ply steel trailer tire.

We get better service at Walmart than Costco. Costco is like going to the DMV or the Post Office.
Costco will fuck you if you go back there with a tire issue. They inspect the car and then weasel out of supporting you. I don't use a lot of Costcos services but tires is definitely not one of them.

I know people gripe about Americas Tire but they are all over and if you do your own tire research on tire rack and order what you want th4ough Tire Rack or Americas, its really not that bad. And I've never had AT fight about the certificates, they have fixed or replaced every time.

FYI, Tire rack got bought by Americas Tire so AT is an installer.

Them certificates have done well for me and never had an issue with them. Last tire was pretty worn guy looks at it and ask if I have certificates I say yup says we’ll just put a new tires on it. Checks computer I’m good.
I ended up paying for the other side tire as that was worn too. Basically two tires for price of one.

Think I’m on my first time I will need to buy a set of tires coming up in years.

I quit buying the certificates from Discount/Americas Tire after taking the wife's car in there with a nail near the outer sidewall. I had bought the tires and certificates from them on those and the manager looked at me and said "oh the inner tread of the tire looks a little worn we can't warranty the tire" Tires had very few miles on them. We had a spirited conversation after that. Finally got them to replace the tire under warranty after quite a few fuck you's in the showroom. Maybe that manager was just being a cocksucker that day but those things burn in your brain.

My most recent tire purchase for my Silverado, Falken WildPeak AT3's which are great by the way, was from Amazon, better price and took them to a local tire shop to get installed.

BFGs suck and Nitto and Toyos fucking suck. Try out a different brand tire. Don't be cheap and use an old spare that'll probably blow out and cause $2500+ worth of damage.

Buying tires based on looks alone probably isn't the most prudent idea...lol😊

A spare exists to get you to the next major town with a tire shop....old spares are fine...especially if they have air in em!

I have mentioned this before but I have tried several of the AT tires, mainly on 1500 Yukon platform. I've always been after snow and ice performance so I can't speak to other surfaces.

I've tried Bridgstone Revo’s, BFG KO2, General Grabber ATx, Toyo AT3 and Nitto Nomads.

While they are all good in the snow, some are better on ice and some have drawbacks on the pavement. The Revos wore horribly, the KO2s were squirrelly under hard braking, the Grabbers were decent all over, the Toyos even better all over. Jury is still out on the Nittos.

Know what you plan to put the tires through, research those qualities and read a bunch of forums. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, you just got to weed through for whats common. Some people just want to bitch and provide nothing positive. Tires are just super subjective.

I like Tire Rack for reviews and surveys, plus tire rack does some objective testing. There's also quite a few youtube videos out there testing AT tires back to back that are worth a look.

My daughter runs those Pathfinder tires from Discount Tires on her Lincoln MKX. They seem to do well for the money they cost.

@DarkHorseRacing has had a different experience than me, but I've been happy with Bridgestone on my truck. I bought the Revo 3's for another truck, but haven't put any miles on them yet. I'll run them until I find something I like better. I've had them in every condition except sand and have been happy. They're not the least expensive tire, but you can find a deal if you shop around online.

I know a guy here that will give you a smoking deal on Toyo’s.

Might have to front the money and wait a bit.

What's funny is ...

Toyo's Sucked hard on my old Durango. I got Maybe 20k out of them.

Their small size tires are useless. 👎

My girl has BFG Trail Terrains on her Taco. Seems a decent tire so far in the dry but haven't been in any inclement weather yet with it. They are decently rated on Tire Rack.

So while I've had good and bad experiences with certain brands, I wouldn't hold that against them when trying a different model tire if the reviews are solid.

I dont know what to do either. Bfgs on my older 2500 never wear down. Coopers mt or something like that on my newer 2500 there pretty loud but seem to be holding up. Thinking of the wild peaks for my sons older 2500 cause there the cheapest and think im going with the toyos on the wife’s Yukon! Shit 🤷‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️
