Adding/removing lower spacers, a boating question.

I am following a post on another forum, I guy with a Lavey with a -2 sc lower. He was told , and did add a 2” spacer to put it back down to factory spec. My question is, the vertical shaft, if you install a -2 lower and add a 2” spacer, isn’t the vertical shaft now not engaged correctly? I don’t recall when I put my drive back together, but if memory serves (and mine sucks) the splined vertical shaft wasn’t extra long.

Edit, answered my own question, you just install a longer coupler
