Since John West won?t return phone calls and fallow up like he said he would we have no choice but to start trying to part out our Ultra 27 Shadow.

The boat is a 2008 model with est. 40hrs that has delimitation problems. We have a complete marine survey that has been done. That boat hull has been considered a loss but some say they think that the right fiberglass person may be able to fix the problem. The boat is outfitted with the following:

Everything is in great shape and has estimated 40hrs of use. This boat was a one of a kind and nothing has been spared. Our loss is your gain.

Wow, very sorry to hear about this. I remember this boat from the LA Boat show in '08 or '09. It was also on the cover of Performance Boat magazine. It was a testament to Ultra and their attention to detail. Very sad to hear about the problems. Good luck

sat on the throne last night and read the mag again with this on the cover. Very bad deal, 65k, that thing wasnt cheap new. Did you at least get the insurance co. to work with you? Where is John West? still in SD, is he working? They made a huge impact on boats in the San Diego area for years. I liked him before the stupid TV show ( I liked Bubba Stewart also).The company is gone, not sure how that works, I know I sued weekend warrior just in time or Id probably stll have a pile of shit trailer.

I have a 2007 ultra shadow i purchased in pheonix 1 month ago. i just took it out for the first time this weekend to havasu. the boat delamed on the left side and could have sunk. im lucky i was near a beach and dock awy from havasu springs. this thing is bad. i dont even think it can be fixed. i am soooo pissed. did you have any luck at all with the insurance that john west had while it was in operation? i am call the insurance co on monday to file a claim. i've never filed anything before so i dont know the process. i would like to talk to you if its ok.

Sounds like Ultra has a problem with staff or their materials. This shouldn't happen, especially with custom built boats. :swear

There was obviously an issue with a new process that did not work properly. Remember ALL these custom boats are built by humans and we are not perfect. DCB, Eliminator etc. have all had issues with hulls delaminating. It is a shitty situation, but it happens. I hope both can get these situations resolved and get back to enjoying boating.
