While visiting my in laws for Christmas in the north woods of Cheeseland, we all piled into the car on Sunday and took a short drive down to a local distillery. The distillery is a cool little place that makes their own vodka out of wheat and barley grown on their own farm. The owner of the farm happens to be a fraternity brother of mine. Good guy and good farmer. His son started the distillery in 2014 and currently produce the American Yoeman vodka, and have a single malt whiskey planned for release in 2023.

While there, I picked up a bottle of their flagship booze and a bottle of Bloody Mary mix they sell as well. This isnt bottled there, but is bottled here in Cheeseland. Some of you may be way more versed on this brand of mix. My sil had a chipotle bloody while there. Pretty damn tasty. Being a first time visitor, they offer a complimentary shot, served in a neat stoneware shot glass. They also use the custom made stoneware glasses for certain cocktails on their drink list as well, all are for sale as well.

I‘m not Bloody Mary drinker, nor a big vodka guy, basically just a beer guy. But I think I can find the ability to enjoy some of this stuff. if you’re ever in the Rice Lake/Spooner WI area, I’d recommend a quick pit stop.

That’s pretty cool. I’m always a sucker for boutique type Vodka’s. That’s how Tito’s began in many ways.

I can make the shittiest Bloody Mary seem amazing if there’s a bottle of Bartenders Choice nearby.

I’m really into the traeger brand bloody mix. But while in Durango we stopped at the bee farm/distillery and they have a very good bloody mix as well as some good to me vodkas.

Some of the boutique brands Bloody mixes are so thick and pack a lot of flavor. Too much for me. My wife is always buying
some new mix and it is usually just overpowering. Ballast Point, Charleston, Zing Zang... kinda like drinking spicy gazpacho. LOL.

I still prefer Mr and Mrs T's Bold and Spicy mix. It is not thick.
If you find it too thin, add some of the fancy mixes to it.
Vodka of choice.
A dash of Worcestershire sauce
A splash of the juice the olives come in.
Some fresh ground pepper
Squeeze of lime wedge.

Garnish with things like
celery
carrot stick sliced very thin
pickled string beans aka green beans
bacon slice
baby corn
blue cheese stuffed green olives.

For morning golf sessions I make a plastic jug of it and take along cups and ice for my foursome.

Driven past Spooner I don't know how many times. Next time this will give me a reason to stop!

If you aren't using half Zing Zang and half Clamato as your bloody base, you're doing it wrong. You're welcome.
Give us your Bloody Mary recipe! Always looking to try something different.

Anyone have the recipe for the ones they made at the old Havasu Landing Casino? Those were good! Asked but they would never give up the recipe and the always served it out of a bottle they already had pre-mixed so you couldn't see them make it. The ones they serve at the new Casino just aren't the same thing anymore...or maybe it's just the atmosphere....

The key to a great bloody is to add some pepperoncini juice, green olive juice or even pickle juice....it wakes up the drink regardless of the bloody mix...Zing Zang is a great base to start with...

Mixed one up and only added a celery stick and a fresh made venison snack stick. The mix has some really nice flavor and zing. Definitely not a bland starter.

Zing Zang poured into a Coors light, no need for ice or cup.
