Coffee was on at 5am, trailer loaded and we left the house in havasu just after 6am. It was cold and daylight was just starting to break when we pulled into a gas station to top off. Back on the road and on way to the Pirate to hit some trails that we have not ever seen before.
The turnout was pretty good, hundreds of sxs’s and other off road vehicles filled the parking lots when we arrived.
Got checked in at registration as the tables in the bar filled up for a drivers meeting. Did I mention it was cold, the sun just barely noticeable yet over the ridge line, it was in the high 30’s. Thankfully they had the heaters on.
Excited to ride we were on our way soon thereafter. The course took us just over 50 miles and the scenery was pretty cool.
Enjoy some of the pics, it was a fun ride.

Looks like a good time, bummed I missed out this year,

In one of your pix looks like Sheriff was also enjoying the run. Surprised to see that, dont recall sing them last year. Puts a damper on having some roadies along the way.

Also what kind of drone are you using for these shots?

Great pics! Thanks.

Does that back road run all the way from Havasu up to Pirates? That is super cool.

I think thats the service road and starts at Topock where the white gas line is and heads back towards Needles. I could be wrong but I dont think that it goes to Havasu.

Thanks for posting, I paid but the car wasn't done so we didn't make it. Looks like a good time, looks like the dust wasn't to bad? Is it mostly pretty easy trails all day? How long did it take you?

They gave us maps and I didn’t look that closely at it. The course started from the north end of Moabi trailer park. We went north for a while and made a loop or big u turn, ran along side of the railroad and then ducked under highway 40 heading west to south west(?). Cutting across highway 95 someplace between needles and videl (?). Continued pretty far to the west before we looped back, in the chemehuevi mountains.

Smooth ride most of the way, except for the washboards in the 12 mile leg of the turtle habitat (that was slow and hard on our bladders).

All on CA side, had to follow the land of regulation rules. We made a few stops and had some delays at checkpoints/ card stops. The course was just over 50 miles. We also had a 30 mph speed limit and 20 mph in the turtle habitat (12 miles). I didn’t really pay attention to time but all done in about 4 hours.
They told us the turtles were hibernating but to keep our eyes open. Never saw one.

The 15 miles of Turtle habitat, at 20mph over washboard roads was brutal.....
Other than that I enjoyed it. Went thru some cool scenery and trails. Good times

The wash board is all or nothing lol. You either fly over it and tighten bolts and see a dentist for filling replacement later or you crawl over it at less than 5 mph

I always find it kind of funny when people go offroading and complain that its too rough!
