What a beautiful truck! They don’t make them like that anymore....the new trucks are Obama pussy trucks, no more 4.10 rear ends. I’d buy it tomorrow but in my HOA. I already have my 2500 he in storage.

Lol a truck with no big block option and 150 HP is a man truck?
It needs a 4.10 rear end because it has maybe 150 HP.
I like this truck a lot but late 70s-early 80s are THE WEAKEST trucks of the last 50 years.
The 454 was an option. I have one. It also has 4.56 gears and lockers front and rear, a factory option. Sm465/np205 combo.

You have a 1978 1 ton K30 4x4 DRW with a big block and 4.56s?
No. Biggest engine available was a 400 in a K30 in 1978.
Try again Dan’l

Mine isn't a pickup. Never was.
Originally ordered as a cab and chassis. It's been a wrecker for 42 years.

Exactly my point.. You don't have the truck.
I guess a '78 K30 4x4 big block dually isn't a '78 K30 4x4 big block dually.
My bad.

There is a huge following of square bodiesI will say if this was a 2wd with a big block. It would have huge potential. Bag it on 22’s and drop in a 502 crate motor and a 700R4.... sick!!
30k for a small block 4x4 dually? I don’t get it.

I posted this for a Havasu boat launch, desert shooting , hardware store, occasional classic car coffee in Havasu meet up ride.
Would I tow my toy hauler with it? No
It’s still has its place in history as a formidable tow rig.
I wouldn’t say weakest. That would be the 72- 78 F250/350 360’/390’s. I love dent sides but a 460 swap would be a mandatory requirement for me lol.

I predict this will sell around $23-25
this guy has found some nice stuff
I’ve learned the value of a lot of older vehicles rises and falls around middle age of a generation :
Case in point:
57’ chevy
15 years ago, still moved at good prices. That generation is now in their late 70’s , us Gen X’ers and most boomers could care less about a 57’.
Not saying a 57 is bad , but the demand ebbs when the generation of a “classic” (or desired ) car has passed on to retirement homes.
No doubt K series trucks will go down in price in ten years as well.
I never thought late 70’s trans am’s would be a thing with smog and all, but the guys who watched Burt drive one now want to pay big bucks to drive that car.
All cyclical
Everyones taste is different I suppose.I will say if this was a 2wd with a big block. It would have huge potential. Bag it on 22’s and drop in a 502 crate motor and a 700R4.... sick!!

Hmm
My parents had a 78 2 wheel drive 3+3 with 6 tires and the 454
It came with? 4:10 gears.
(On a side note he had a B&M mini blower on it with B&Ms recommended camshaft for towing, headers and some headwork. It pulled just fine, lol)
My Dodge 3500 with twice the hp of that small block truck but came with? 4:10 gears.
I admit it’s not a big block
Is only a 6 cylinder
I’ve sort of been under the assumption the low gear (while useful for pulling up the hill) was more about coming down it? Using engine breaking and lower gear torque multiplication to help slow the roll.
This small block 4x4 would probably be sweet with a 4:88 considering largish tires.
Yep. You should have seen how red the old mans face got when they changed the smog laws to include 10k gvw trucks. The smog era just made these things miserably slow.. the small block is fine, the 150 HP is easy to fix at least.
